http://www.unbase.com/n/5853623009

When you walk through a storm hold your head up high
And don't be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm is a golden sky
And the sweet silver song of a lark.
Walk on through the wind,
Walk on through the rain,
Tho' your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.

Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone,
You'll never, ever walk alone.

The History

1959 - Shankly appointed manager

user posted image

December 1st 1959 is a date that will forever be etched in the annals of Anfield history. For it was on this day that Liverpool Football Club announced Huddersfield Town boss Bill Shankly would be their new manager in succession to Phil Taylor.

On his appointment he released 24 players and began to reshape the team.Promotion to the First Division was achieved in 1961–62, and the club won the League for the first time in 17 years in 1963–64. Another League title followed in 1965–66, after the club had won their first FA Cup the previous season. The club won the League and UEFA Cup in 1972–73 and the FA Cup again a year later; after this, Shankly retired and was replaced by his assistant Bob Paisley.Paisley was even more successful than Shankly and the club won the League and UEFA Cup in 1975–76, his second season as manager. The following season they retained the League title, won the European Cup for the first time, but lost in the FA Cup final, narrowly missing out on a treble. Liverpool retained the European Cup the next season, and the season after won the League again with 68 points—a domestic record, conceding only 16 goals in 42 league matches.During the nine seasons Paisley managed the club, Liverpool won 21 trophies, including three European Cups, a UEFA Cup, six league titles and three consecutive League Cups. The only domestic trophy to elude him was the FA Cup.

Paisley retired in 1983 and (as Shankly had done) handed the reins to his assistant, veteran coach Joe Fagan. The succession of coaches came from the Anfield Boot Room where the Liverpool staff discussed strategy and allegedly stored gin.[10] Liverpool won three trophies in Fagan's first season in charge: the League, League Cup and European Cup, becoming the first English side to win three trophies in a season.Liverpool reached the European Cup final again in 1985. The match was against Juventus at the Heysel Stadium. Before kick-off, disaster struck: Liverpool fans breached a fence which separated the two groups of supporters and charged the Juventus fans. The resulting weight of people caused a retaining wall to collapse, killing 39 fans, mostly Italians. The match was played regardless and Liverpool lost 1–0 to Juventus. English clubs were consequently banned from participating in European competition for five years; Liverpool received a ten-year ban, which was later reduced to six years. Fourteen of their fans received convictions for involuntary manslaughter.

Fagan resigned after the disaster and Kenny Dalglish was appointed as player-manager.During his reign, the club won another three League Championships and two FA Cups, including a League and Cup "Double" in 1985–86. Liverpool's success was overshadowed by the Hillsborough Disaster: in an FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest on 15 April 1989, hundreds of Liverpool fans were crushed. 94 fans died that day; the 95th victim died in hospital from his injuries four days later, and the 96th died nearly four years later without regaining consciousness. After the Hillsborough tragedy there was a governmental review of stadium safety. Known as the Taylor Report, it paved the way for legislation which required top-division teams to have all-seater stadiums. The report ruled that the main reason for the disaster was overcrowding due to a failure of police control.Dalglish cited the Hillsborough Disaster and its repercussions as the reason for his resignation in 1991. He was replaced by former player Graeme Souness. Apart from winning the FA Cup in 1992, Souness achieved little success and was replaced by a former member of the "Boot Room", Roy Evans. Evans fared little better: a League Cup victory in 1995 was his only trophy. Gérard Houllier was appointed as co-manager in 1998–99, but was left in sole charge after Evans resigned in November 1998.

In his second season in charge Liverpool won a unique treble of the FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Cup.In the 2001-02 season, during which Houllier underwent major heart surgery, Liverpool finished second behind Arsenal. The following seasons failed to live up to expectations and Houllier was replaced by Rafael Benítez. The club finished fifth in his first season in charge but won the UEFA Champions League by beating Milan 3–2 in a penalty shootout after the match finished 3–3.The following season Liverpool finished third with 82 points—their highest total since 1988. They won the FA Cup as they had the Champions League victory the previous season, by beating West Ham United in penalty shootout after the match finished at 3–3. In 2006–07, the club's search for investment came to an end when American businessmen George Gillett and Tom Hicks became the owners of Liverpool in a deal which valued the club and its outstanding debts at £218.9 million. That season, the club reached another Champions League final, but this time lost 2–1 to Milan

When i come to think of it,we are playing the carling cup on the 26th which is one week after the FA cup 5th round.
I rather we play a lower division team now than any of arsenal, chelsea or spurs.I also hope two of those three get drawn against each other biggrin.gif

improve over the 2 games and then Wolves this weekend and we'll see.

Although I really enjoy the rivals thread of whiners and denials, it's like looking at a bunch of kids being robbed of their sweets which is to say looking like a bunch of cry babies. but then again were we ever surprised? biggrin.gif

Now jibes and jokes aside (at their expense naturally) we should be happy that the back 4 have held up, united having 60% possession and less chances at goal than us is a credit to Skrtel, Kelly, Agger and Enrique. SAF should be hitting his whisky nose on the work desk for making the mistake of taking out Scholes. And we should be giving credit to Kenny for taking out Gerrard. All in all tactics and determination won the night.

And many thanks to Evra, I'm sure he must be feeling on top of the world last night. biggrin.gif he should be so lucky if the boot miss his face from the dresser, LOL

and yes, although many little united men says they lost to a racist club and it was injustice, here is a tip:

STOP! LOOK AT THE SCOREBOARD! IT SHOWS 2-1 LIVERPOOL WINS!
Some one up there definitely do not agree with the lot of you, HAHAHA biggrin.gif

YNWA!

I seriously doubt that we did that. I mean, just a look at video and its obviously fake. Not to mention, risking 20mil based on a video? Downing has been playing in the prem and i am 100% sure that we know what we are doing when we signed him. IMHO this is just a mere fake news to take the attention away from our win.

If you are looking for scenarios where people spend a ridiculously huge amount of money, then I have a name for you.

I really doubt someone of John Henry's caliber would be that stupid. How do I know? Well he's won the World Series with the Red Sox and you don't achieve success and makes millions by being stupid.

Andy Carroll always vaguely remind me of somebody in the past. He was a great, prolific striker with the same physique, style and same ponytail too. Just now i remember his name and face; Dado Prso. This big man could emulate Prso in the future.

The team has to buck up against smaller clubs. This has been the issue this season.
I'm sure Kenny has his plans ready for Brighton match up.

QUOTE
The FA have awarded today’s FA Cup tie to Manchester United, accepting Patrice Evra's claim (after the referee had blown for full time) that his team had in fact scored at least ten goals and not just one.

The fact that no players, supporters or officials, nor TV cameras’ were able to confirm the other ten or more goals, did not mean that Mr. Evra's claim was false.

When interviewed (through an amateur interpreter) immediately after the game, the accused Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina admitted conceding one goal. This damning confession was enough to convince the FA panel that he must have conceded the other ten or more as claimed by Mr. Evra.

The FA found Mr. Evra to be a very convincing witness on account of the fact that he is such a lovely bloke, has never been in trouble before, and claims to be fluent in several languages.

Mr. Reina's testimony on the other hand was found to be totally unreliable in that he is Spanish (and we all know what they are like) and spoke mainly in Spanish through an interpreter.

As Mr. Reina had admitted to conceding one goal, the FA panel concluded that the probability was that he had conceded more than one. Mr. Evra would not have been so adamant if he hadn't.

The FA has therefore settled on Manchester United winning by a margin of 7 goals to 2 as the true final score.

Pepe Reina and Liverpool Football Club have the right to appeal the score within the next 24 hours, but not overturn the defeat.

If they do decide to appeal and lose the appeal, they will be immediately kicked out of all FA competitions for the next 50 years

Today touch lines

Liverpool's bid to swap $35m record signing Andy Carroll for Carlos Tevez has been turned down by Man city.

According to Sunday mirror, Carroll could still be involved in a swap deal for Newcastle United striker Demba Ba

Liverpool are prepareing a double swoop on Bundesliga with moves for Werder Bremen winger Marko Marin & Borussia Dortmund striker Lucas Barrios.

Now the kops on shopping spree?

I'm actually a bit shocked at news coming out that we tried to offload AC for Tevez. I've been critical of Andy but I always wanted him to stay on and improve.

Apparently Damien Comolli has flown to Santos yesterday night to further finalize the deal of Neymar transfer to Liverpool FC before the January transfer window closes. tongue.gif

I'm sure Maxi is willing to swap his no.11 with Neymar. blush.gif

Liverpool is nowhere close to City in the title race this season. Liverpool is aiming for 4th place finish, not 1st atm. It's the Manc City has to be worried about. Plus, it's only a loan, no a buy. If Liverpool DOES get that CL spot, they can just choose to call back Tevez and screw with his life longer

I have the same perception when C.ronaldo joined MU. thinking that he will not be able to cope with the physicality of the BPL games.

But look, he becomes a very complete attacking player and a successful one.

I believe if Neymar really come over to Liverpool, with the right care and advice and right training method. He could be the next big thing for us as well. Chances are slim though. hmm.gif

Liverpool have today secured the services of Wales U19 international goalkeeper Danny Ward.

The stopper joins the Reds from Wrexham, the club he signed for as a 14-year-old, and will be based with the reserve squad at the Academy.

Ward turned in a Man of the Match performance during his senior debut in a one-off loan game for Wrexham's Blue Square Bet Premier League rivals Tamworth last season.

Internationally, Ward has played at schoolboy, U17s and U19s level for his country and featured in a UEFA qualifying tournament based in Slovakia in September 2011.

McCarthy says Dalglish contacted him requesting to change the game to the following day due to Liverpool's potential business in the transfer market.

But the Wolves manager refused because he wanted more time to prepare for Saturday's trip to QPR.

He said: "I know Liverpool wanted to play the game on the Wednesday and asked me about it and I said 'no chance'.

"We are going down to QPR on Saturday so why would I play a day later? I want as much time to prepare for both games but I could understand Liverpool's request.

"Kenny just asked me because they might be doing something (in the transfer market) and I understood it - but he understand my reasons for not changing."

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has revealed that Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish wanted to delay Tuesday's Premier League meeting between the two sides to avoid a clash with transfer deadline day.

Dalglish on Monday insisted that he would not look to buy or sell any players before the January transfer window closes on Tuesday night (see below).

But McCarthy has suggested that the Scot could be - or at least was - looking to do some last-minute transfer business.

He said: "I know Liverpool wanted to play the game on the Wednesday and asked me about it and I said 'no chance'.

"We are going down to QPR on Saturday so why would I play a day later? I want as much time to prepare for both games but I could understand Liverpool's request.

"Kenny just asked me because they might be doing something [in the transfer market] and I understood it - but he understand my reasons for not changing."

We've been focusing on players coming in but what about players leaving? Martin Hansen wants to opt out after limited opportunities at the club. Can't say I blame him since Doni can't even get a sniff in. Gulasci is out on loan and looks to be above him in the pecking order.

Here's a question though. Do young keepers have a future at Anfield? I can't remember the last time we promoted someone from within the ranks. In fact I don't think we ever have. The bloke that came the closest was Tony Warner as far as I can remember. We've had heaps of young keepers come in over the years but non have amounted to anything.

Added on January 31, 2012, 8:48 amOur interest in Nathan Dyer seems to have cooled. I thought he'd be a good option to have being a wide right player. Scored a beauty against Arsenal the other day.

I don't subscribe to the notion of signing replacements. Gerrard is one of the best midfielders in the world. The fact that Pele said he's walk into any one of Brazil's national sides over the years speaks volumes of how much his talents are appreciated not just at Liverpool, but on a global scale. You will not find a replacement for him whether it be in the form of Jordan Henderson or in the shape of Charlie Adam. Over the years, we've had so much talk about "the next Zidane" or "the next whoever else", I think the search for individuals are in vain. These players are special because they are unique. Let's appreciate our lads as the individuals that they are, and not someone's replacement. Lucas for example has stamped his own mark and made a name for himself by neither emulation Alonso or Mascherano, the players he "replaced".

LIVERPOOL WOULD TAKE TEVEZ ON LOAN
The nice, altruistic souls that they are, Liverpool have apparently offered to take that troublesome Carlos Tevez on loan from Manchester City. Which is nice of them, we think you'll agree.

That's what The Daily Mirror says anyway. With a bid to swap Andy Carroll for Tevez from someone at least claiming to represent Liverpool laughed out of town, The Mirror reports the club have made a 'cheeky approach' for Tevez.

The paper claims: 'Tevez is currently in dispute with City and still pining for a move to AC Milan, but the Italian giants - and all other interested parties - are unwilling to commit to a full-time deal. So Liverpool have joined the queue of interested parties who would take Tevez on loan, paying his £200,000-a-week wages in the process at the cost of around £5million in rent.'

Meanwhile, if you want a little more on the Carroll/Tevez swap, The Independent reports on the phone call between this mystery Liverpool person and Brian Marwood, the City big cheese:

'One source suggested Marwood, who was surprised but not interested in acquiring Carroll, responded with a joke along the lines of "throw in Stevie G and we'll think about it,"which brought the brief conversation to a close.'

surprised how many fans would consider tevez in the team. even for loan. he's a good footballer i agree but shit personality. he's arrogant and selfish, will only disrupt the harmony of the team. with the likes of bellers in the dressing room i would think it doesn't take long before anything happen.

typical LFC to keep the transfer matters behind closed doors. whoever KD decide to buy or dont, i'll support because he knew better than us keyboard warriors

Carra coming to Kota Kinabalu

31st January, 2012
KOTA KINABALU: England’s international footballer, Jamie Carragher, is expected to be present to give his support to the Penampang District Under-12 Futsal Championship organised by the Sabah Sports Board (LSNS) on Feb 18 and 19.

The LSNS Sports Division Manager, Terrance Edward Pudin, said the Liverpool defender would meet football fans in Sabah besides contributing gifts in the form of Liverpool T-shirts and consolation prizes for the top players in the championship.

“The championship is to develop new talents from the early stage and will be the first programme to be held in the Penampang district after its successful implementation in Tambunan, Sandakan, Tamparuli, Keningau and Tawau,” he said in a statement, here yesterday.

Pudin said the carnival, in collaboration with several government agencies including the Sabah State Sports Council, Sabah State Education Department, Sabah Football Association (Sabah FA), the Jamie Carragher 23 Foundation and Kinabalu Reds, would be held at the Football Stadium at the Penampang Sports Complex.

The championship is expected to be opened by the Federal Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, who is also the Member of Parliament for Penampang while Sabah Deputy Finance Minister Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin would close the championship.

Further information could be obtained from Anthonneus Asbin (019-8724109 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 019-8724109 end_of_the_skype_highlighting), Safwan Samsir (016-3381087 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 016-3381087 end_of_the_skype_highlighting), Rainold Mokujin (013-8972801 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 013-8972801 end_of_the_skype_highlighting), William Sipaji (088718060, 013- 8785853 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 013- 8785853 end_of_the_skype_highlighting) or the LSNS office (088-221706 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting 088-221706 end_of_the_skype_highlighting

I'm sure even on loan (tevez, if loaned from city) would let's his football do the talking.

But to fork out 200k pounds a week for a gifted footballer who goes into headlines for wrong reasons, i don't think is worth it. but anyway i doubt this deal will ever materialize.

Henry & Werner wouldn't pay such wages for leasing purposes. Plus, it is only a short temporary solution, not a long term one, unless it comes with an option to purchase at a much lower fee. Anelka made a good impact when he was on loan to Pool, but too bad we didn't sign him when he was at his peak.

I agree with you. He isn't exactly the most loyal bloke isn't he? Bellamy may be a firecracker and a loud mouth but he's committed and he works hard. I can't think of too many nice things to say about Tevez other than he is a pretty good footballer. I get the feeling however that there are fans who only care about ability.

Not many clubs have done anything during the transfer window what with prices being inflated and all. I'm fine with us working with what we have. Far as I'm concerned, it's status quo for all teams given the lack of activity.

That's where management skills come in. If Kenny can handle Bellamy, why not Tevez? Suarez was (is) a problematic player as well. Remember the biting back in Ajax?

But it doesn't matter that much if it's a loan deal, right? And for what it's worth, he was the hardest worker in the team when he played for United and City.

In addition, if we're bringing him, I'd trust that KK and co are confident that they're able to control Tevez's volatile character. After all, we signed Bellamy, Suarez and Carroll; players who are no strangers to controversy outside the pitch.

Former Liverpool defender Sotirios Kyrgiakos is on his way to Sunderland to complete a loan move from Wolfsburg.

The 32-year-old Greece international, who played 49 games for the Anfield club, has been brought in by Martin O’Neill as centre-back cover for Wes Brown, Titus Bramble and Matt Kilgallon, who are all injured and out of tomorrow’s clash with Norwich City.

our bench looks thin, only jonjo and downing as attacking options. another way is to sub kelly in and push johnson a bit further as attacking right mid, hopefully we wont need to resort into that

Liverpool can confirm that goalkeeper Martin Hansen has tonight left the club after being transferred to Danish side Viborg FF.

The 21-year-old joined the Reds' Academy in the summer of 2006 from Brondby.

Liverpool Football Club wishes Martin all the best for his future.

Wolves play like crap in first half. Their passing was atrocious. But we had ourselves to blame for not having the cutting edge inside the box. If Wolves play like what they did for second half, and if we don't win the game, the Reds have themselves to blame. Carroll's positioning is good. Also chasing down lost cause balls. Adam is like lost sheep in the game. Hendo is running here n there without any sense of direction.

The Travelling Kop singing Fields of Anfield Road again. Been really frequent since the return of the King.

"All round the fields if Anfield Road, where once we saw that King Kenny play, and could he play!".

Carroll's growing in confidence, well pleased for him. Prove em all wrong Andy.

is there a player who is very very similar to david beckham? good in passing.. and extremely accurate in crossings and free kicks at this time?

so far i cant think of any excellent set piece taker.. and if there is, we should get him, preferably on right wing. it will be awesome. right side pumping in crosses, left side drifting into the box like a boss.. lols

dont go ahead of yrself, its our first bpl win for 2012. dont expect ucl spot to come easy with the likes of arsenal chelsea in the mix n possibly newcastle. spurs are doing really well. bale is on a good run of form and he's pretty scary to face.

is there a player who is very very similar to david beckham? good in passing.. and extremely accurate in crossings and free kicks at this time?

so far i cant think of any excellent set piece taker.. and if there is, we should get him, preferably on right wing. it will be awesome. right side pumping in crosses, left side drifting into the box like a boss.. lols

We used to have a song, I think. It went something like this.

David who?
We've got Xabi Alonso!
He scores with his left,
He scores with his right!
He can run, and he can pass!
Who needs David, when we've got Xabi!

or something like that.

Since arriving from Newcastle, much has been expected of Andy Carroll. By shelling out $35 million pounds for him, Liverpool effectively made him the most expensive British footballer of all time, and the 8th most expensive signing in the world. Comparisons with Alan Shearer were already rife on Tyneside and expectations were soaring high after Carroll was handed the famous no.9, worn by Anfield legends such as Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush and Ian St. John. A lot of pressure to dump on a budding 22 year old footballer indeed, especially since he was seen by some to be a direct replacement for one Fernando Torres who packed his bags to look for greener pastures at Stamford Bridge. Comparisons were drawn and unfairly so. While Fernando Torres was already an accomplished international who had just won the World Cup with Spain, Andy Carroll had very little experience in top flight football.

Just a few games into his Anfield career, fans grew restless. Carroll often looked sluggish, displayed poor touches and rarely displayed the aerial prowess he has become to be known for. Some attributed this to the fact that he had just retured from injury and wasn't fully fit, whilst others saw a player short of confidence, unable to deal with the pressures that came along with his price tag. Some quarters were going impatient, labelling him a flop and a panic buy to replace Torres who let despite pledging his future to the club just 3 weeks earlier. Indeed, he still has some ways to go but it is really too soon to label him a failure in my books. As Paul Tomkins noted, players who aren't blessed with raw physical abilities like blistering pace or sublime coordination need experience to hone their abilities. How many front men in his mould attained success as his age? Whilst he may be a huge physical presence, one needs to note that unlike in other leagues where you get smaller centrebacks like Cannavaro and Cardoba, Premier League defenders like Robert Huth, John Terry, Nemanja Vidic and Christopher Samba are all at least 6'1" with fair bit of Premiership experience under their belt. Carroll is blessed neither with pace nor lightning feet and therefore needs to work on maturing his game to get the better off savvy, seasoned defenders.

His performances against Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers suggests to me that all he needed was an injection of confidence. After creating the winning goal for Dirk Kuyt against Man Utd, he followed it up with a goal against Wolves. He showed great desire to win balls, held up play really well, got those around him involved and scored a poachers goal. Sure it was against a club in relegation trouble but it's during games like these that he needs to step up and continue to build his confidence.

Another boss performance from Daniel Agger. His failure to to spot Agger's obvious talent is if you ask me, another one of Hodgson's biggest failings. He is as good as any other centreback in the league at the moment and it isn't mere coincidence that we became a tight defensive unit when he returned from injury. Hope he stays well away from the injury table.

Now that a certain newly refreshed Luis is coming back in, what of an 'in form' Carroll?
Will Kenny play 2 strikers upfront or the single?
If single, whos it going to be?
We have seen the problem with playing Carroll and Luis together.
The understanding and style of play do not compliment each other.

A nice headache for the gaffer........ biggrin.gif

Whatever style we play, Spearing or another holding midfielder has to be there. Let Adam get forward and look what happened...2 assists! Not bad at all. Carroll seems to be getting some confidence back, is it just me or did I notice that his best two games so far have been with Kuyt around. Personally, I wouldn't like to see Suarez slot straight back in. I would prefer if Andy was given a bit more opportunity, but considering our next match is against Tottenham then MU, that might not happen.

He's not my favourite player la, that title goes to Jamie Carragher. I am however a fan of Carroll. Have been since he was making waves with Newcastle. I was happy we signed him though the amount caught me by surprise but I've never stopped backing him to justify his fee. I really want him to succeed and I do hope he's found his mojo and continues to ride this crest of confidence throughout the remainder of the season. We can't judge his contribution on goals alone. Bellamy's goal against Bolton came courtesy of an Andy Carroll assist as did Dirk Kuyt's against the mancs. When in imperious form as he was against Wolves, he draws defenders to him like a human magnet which is why those playing off him have acres of space to run into.

Just as one bad game doesn't define a player's season however, neither does one good game and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Carroll continues to deliver as I believe he will.

Good problem to have indeed. I see the possibility of playing both Suarez and Bellamy off Carroll who leads the line on his own. Suarez seems to favour attacking the goal from diagonal angles rather than straight on and could easily be played out further wide. This will allow Henderson to tuck into a more central role which favours him. Our width will be provided through Enrique and Johnson/Kelly.

-------------Reina--------------
Kelly----Skrtel--Agger----Enrique
-----------Spearing-------------
----Henderson---Gerrard--------
-Suarez----------------Bellamy-
-----------Carroll----------------

Suarez and Bellamy are both nippy forwards who can benefit from Carroll's knock-ons. Kuyt is an option we can use if we choose to adopt a more defensive approach, coming on for either Suarez or Bellamy. His work ethic is second to none and he's often seen tracking back to help out in defence. Henderson and Suarez can both interchange their positions when we're attacking with Suarez coming infield and Henderson going out wide to provide some width.

This formation can easily morph into a 4-5-1 with Suarez and Bellamy dropping deeper if required. Both have good pace and can apply ample pressure by pressing the ball the moment it crosses the halfway mark.

The last minute swap rumors revolving Carroll and Tevez certainly sparked some life in Carroll. If I have a choice between Tevez and Carroll, I'll certainly keep the latter just because the former is an ignorant troublemaker.

Given the chance if he starts against Spurs and Manure, hopefully the lad can replicate his form again and keep the momentum going.

There's still a lot of work to be done to convince the lot.

I think Spearing is vital to the team during the absence of Lucas. He provides defensive cover to the back four and also not bad in his passing. I noticed in yesterday's match that he always aware of teammate around him and quick to pass if he is closed down. His tackles is way much better than Adams and he senses the danger quickly. I noitced how quick he was to provide cover for defense. Yes he did make bad passes one or two ocassions.

Yes Adam did provide assist. That's what he is good at and he should be at the opponent's half more often. But before his second assist to Kuyt I was screaming for him to be subbed out cause he could have been easily given second yellow for tackle on Frimpong. He is a liability in defense. I think his best position is behind striker. DM should be left to Spearing Gerrard and Lucas.

over the year fans have gotten used to pacey and agile striker leading the line.Players like owen Cisse and then Torres and now Suarez. That's why the playing style of a typical targetmen are rarely seen and earns fewer recognition as it should be.

The fact is maybe most of us here has never watch Carroll playing week in week out for Newcaste b4.All we have are goal highlights which leaves us with the impression of what this striker is going to bring to us,'goals'.But then if we watched him at the moment his contribution doesn't only stop on goals scored.Thats why KK said any goals from carroll now is a bonus.

Anyone watch fanzone yesterday?one of the chelsea fan stressed AVB was appointed bcoz of his own unique playing style and his own philosophy, thats why we shouldn't expect himself to change and suit the teamplay.Whereas the team shud stick with why he was brought in in the 1st place.nd

Same things apply for Carroll. He was bought as a targetman.and we knows targetman isn't really prolific.especially when they are young.Trying asking suarez to play as targetman aswell.

Not long ago we used Emile Heskey as our target man with Michael Owen playing off him. Targetmen don't often end up being top scorers as they primarily are deployed to hold up play or to knock on the ball. This doesn't however mean they don't score goals. If you look at Carroll's movement against Wolves, he gets to the ball, holds it up for a supporting teammate, passes it back and then moves quickly to take up position in the box. Perfect play IMO. It's absurd to expect him to beat defenders with pace or fancy footwork.

We do know Kyrgiakos made his way back into the Premiership. It was mentioned a couple of days ago. He was my pick for player of the moment at one point in the season before he left and it's really good to see him back. Scored a couple of important headers for us.

I'm a little surprised at Saha's move to Spurs though. Didn't think they needed another striker what more one who has spent a lot of time on the injury list lately. Spurs already have the likes of Adebayor, Defoe, Crouch and Pavluchenko vying for starting berths.

I think QPR made a couple of really good signings. First they signed Taiwo who has World Cup experience with Nigeria. Now they've signed Bobby Zamora who is a streaky player. He has bags of experience and at one point was playing so well, he got an England call up. They have also signed the pacy Djibril Cisse which sees another former red return. Rafa inherited him but played him mainly as a winger meaning he was always going to replicate his goalscoring form for Auxerre.

Right about Crouch. My mistake. They have Dos Santos on the bench. Makes more sense now but last I check Pavlyuchenko was still in the squad.

Well, they did recoup most of the money they paid for Pav. Good deal imo. Good for him to be back in Russian too. Win-win situation for both parties.

QUOTE(Duke Red @ Feb 1 2012, 04:08 PM)

100% agree with ur opinion bro! thats exactly how targetmen should be played...he need to be given some form of respect in that regard! one of my fav player as well! this kind of player maybe a bit slow to 'up' but do remember since their game is not purely based on speed...he can have longer top flight striker career....dun want like what happen to m. owen by 27++ age speed already gone due to countless injury...his career oso kaput...

Former liverpool player D.Cisse scored in his return to BPL with 12minutes for QPR.
Well, sometimes certain player is just not meant to be for certain team. JINX maybe.
Anyway, welcome back to England Cisse. Champions League Winner with us back in 2005.

Good for Rafa. He's always wanted to manage Real Madrid and now he may become a reality. Managing the 'Galaticos' may be a challenge for him though. Rafa doesn't exactly stroke egos and he micro manages his players, something the big names may not appreciate. They may find themselves a little restricted. Anyway good luck to Rafa. Hope he gets the hot seat.

Yup I was corrected on Crouch earlier and already admitted to making a mistake. On Pavlyuchenko, he hasn't signed yet. Pending a medical.

On an unrelated note, Terry's trial has been pushed to 9th July after the Premiership season and more importantly after Euro. How nice. This is so that Chelsea's players will be available to testify in court. Does this mean our players have more time to spare? The FA conducted their investigation of Suarez during the season and called up players from both our team and Man Utd. Why should the court cater to the schedule of the players? If they have to appear in court, that's the end of it. What does it matter if it's during the season or not?

Don't actually think Rafa would enjoy working under that guy ... Perez, is it?

Anyways, it's just the typical FA wanting to protect an Englishman who happens to be the captain of the country. They want him to take part in the euro 2012 finals whereas we and Suarez got f*** all. Suarez was treated like a criminal and was called a racist by everyone in the world.

The FA are so showing double-standards that its unbelievable.

I still can't understand why Terry's case is on-going since October(?) when there was evidence that he racially abused Anton Ferdinand on camera and yet Suarez's decision was made sharpish even though it was based on Evra's word alone, without any evidence.

Seeing Suarez is a foreigner (fair enough he did play in Netherlands for a handful of years), he is still a foreigner to England and he only said a word common in his country but unacceptable in England, thus, making an innocent mistake, in my opinion. As for Terry, he's a born and bred Englishman and he knows the culture in England and yet his case isn't heavily looked into.

I expect nothing less than 40,000 pounds fine and 8 games ban but it should be more because of everything I've said above.

Aiya let's just forget it and move on la. We all feel hard done by it but all our collective moaning and complaining won't change it. He served his 8 matches. Without him we dumped out City and MU. Justice has been served smile.gif. We're not too far off 4th place and Carroll has found some rhythm (I hope). Let's keep moving!

yup. We now has passed the 8 banned game for Suarez. He will be back for next match. We trough some up and down, but for last 3 games we were superb. Indeed a moral boost for the team and Suarez.

It's time to unleash our 'new signing' again smile.gif

Just because Terry is Englishman and he is important to his national squad? So can we call this as "RACIST" as well? hmm...

District Judge Howard Riddle ordered that he should stand trial in the week beginning July 9 after hearing that a number of other Chelsea players would not be able to appear as witnesses until the end of the football season.

This is preposterous. The FA made an example of Suarez quickly but not JT. If JT is not English bred and part of the core of Three Lions team, I doubt he will receive similar treatment.

Look on the bright side. Suarez ban is over. Arsenal drew yesterday. Now it is time to play catch up with Chelski. 4 pts behind with 15 games remaining. Hopefully no more dropping pts at home. If we had converted 5 out of 7 home draw into win, we would be a point behind Spurs right now. But no point dwelling the past, have to look forward. In Kenny we trust.

I agree that we should move on but I disagree that we should forget it. Why do you think big cases involving important figures are often dragged on? Same with big cases in this country involving top politicians no? It's so people forget. What happens when the same thing happens again? We just forget about it again? It is exactly what those in power want to happen, for us to forget.

Like you've just mentioned, we're still pretty well placed despite losing Suarez for 8 games and we should look forward and put his case behind us, which we have. No one is asking for a retrial here. However I feel we should remember this case and use it as precedence for relative upcoming cases. It is a matter of principle and thus, we shouldn't forget or else, what's to stop the powers that be from doing the same thing over and over again?

True, but the amount of moaning here is really detracting from the way our players have been playing in light of all the criticism we've gotten. Life gave us lemons and we made the Manchester clubs collectively drink lemonade. Torres left for trophies and we're on track for a double. Evra and the media smeared Suarez's name but Kuyt rubbed their faces in dirt.

I agree, and don't get me wrong, I feel extremely hard done by the Suarez case. But I also believe in karma, and should Terry be exonerated, I think Kenny will have something to say about that. And don't forget, the move to move the trial was done by a judge, not the FA. I know it stinks of double standards, but we can't say for sure that they wouldn't do the same if Suarez's case was elevated to a court case right?

The moaning isn't about the injustice done to Suarez I believe. It's to do with the double standards practiced by the FA or in this case, the English. If there are no calls for consistency and everyone remains silent, there's no pressure on the FA to practice equality.

I did not forget that the trial was moved by the court. That fact that it is makes things worse. Ask any lawyer if a case was ever moved to suit the schedule of witnesses. Should they only be in session after work hours then from now on? If you are called you get called up to court, you show up, end off. Now courts make concessions for footballers simply because they aren't free? What kinda BS is that.

The FA weren't involved in that decision of course (or at least I don't think they were) but since they're taking racism so seriously, why not plead with the courts to deal with the case immediately to resolve this issue and force the relevant clubs and players to make time for the hearing? Give Chelsea a week off la and have them play at a later date.

Added on February 2, 2012, 12:00 pmI've constantly urged everyone to stop reacting based on weekly results and to focus on the bigger picture. Time and time again, I see posters asking why we didn't buy this player or why we aren't spending? If you think it's all doom and gloom and what I've been posting is rubbish, do have a read please.

You have a point there about double standards. The way I see it, the FA is keen to wash its hands off the situation. Having dealt with the Suarez issue so swiftly and equally swiftly pawned Terry off to the courts, they have their hands free now to focus on whatever else they wanna do, and the same time avoid playing the villain for sending Terry to the gallows. Suarez was never a popular figure to begin with, and all the FA had to worry about was backlash from Liverpool supporters, who by calling for consistency and proper judgment have been made to look like racists and hooligans by ignorant fools like Powar.

As for the courts shifting the date, I think considering such a high profile figure they really have no choice but to do so in anticipation of questions from the public as to whether all relevant people had been interviewed etc. They have to tread lightly and carefully here as compared to the FA, these guys have to worry about Chelsea fans, QPR fans and the whole of England. This is probably the reason behind the change. The courts probably fear possible backlash and feel they have to give the case their due diligence.

These are just my opinions of course, and there are pretty clear double standards here. It's all about the profile of the people involved and the magnitude of the potential backlash. It has never been about fairness.

this is a nice read:-

http://www.chelseadaft.org/2012/02/torres-...-its-going.html?

The link is for our former number 9. I am still a big fan and it highlights some of the problems from our own as well. They play Torres expecting him to be somebody else and we play Carroll the same way we play Torres thinking Carroll would emulate him. These 2 players in my opinion are played out of their depth but hey, it's just my opinion but it does explain the lack of goals coming from either of them no?

Watch the 81 goals that was scored for us. To me, if Bellamy can U-turn and be a player for LFC, why can't Torres? But that is wishful thinking blush.gif

Peace out! YNWA!

i think most of us already knew why he can't be a goal scoring machine there...torres is not the type of striker that wants to receive a pass while his back is facing the goal...

Plus this ban period could also enable Suarez to rest since he got no break from continuously playing football
Hope he comes back sharper and more clinical in front of goal.

Haha, Chelski bought Torres to mould him into targetman Drogba-like, where as Liverpool bought Carroll as a targetman but we fans initially had an assumption he is Torres-like.

Funny how in the article he talks about Torres lacking of service in a blue shirt. As I recall many a times in a red shirt, he was often played as the lone striker in the team and in many matches, lack of that so-called service from players around him. Torres, as I remember, was the kind of player who had the confidence to score no matter how badly he or his team was playing. The away match to Aston Villa in Rafa's final season was an example. We were playing horribly and Torres was running into defenders all night. At the closing stage of the match, after some poor passing from players of both sides, the ball magically fell to Torres' feet. He took the ball towards the keeper and finished it calmly.

It was that kind of confidence that has endeared Torres to us but was lost when he switched jerseys. It's true that in Chelsea he has been working hard and putting a double shift to win back fans and Chelsea as a team has been abysmal this season (Having Essien out is a blow, in addition to the drop in performance from their ageing players) but least they forget, in the 3 1/2 seasons he has been with us, he had played with some really sub-par players and manager around him.

Until he regain the confidence and that striker instinct, he's never going to justify the 50m price tag. He will probably come good when Chelsea returns to form, but it's still going to be far cry from the Torres in red shirt.

This is true. We were extremely reliant upon Torres for goals at one point. The only other match winners we had then was Gerrard and in my opinion Benayoun. I don't think Torres benefited from excellent service during his time at Anfield. The only person he seemed to forge a good understanding with was Steven Gerrard and his richest vein of goalscoring form came when Gerrard was deployed right behind him. In Gerrard's absence, we passed him the ball and would hope for him to take on defenders all on his own and create something out of nothing. He exceeded my expectations of him that's for sure and then one day, he just shut off and looked to have lost interest. His body language was negative and he didn't show the same fire and passion he did before.

I personally have no solid conclusion as to why he's lost his form. All I know is that he should be at his peak now and if he doesn't recover soon, he'll go down the same road Robbie Fowler took. The latter was done before his time.

Just checked our fixtures, lots of tough matches coming. In Premier League, we're facing Tottenham, Man Utd, Arsenal then Sunderland. While we still have FA Cup and Carling Cup final to play this month.

With Suarez coming back after taking some "break", Kuyt ended his goal drought, Carroll showing improvements & Stevie G being fit. Lucky we're having a full squad for these matches. (apart from Lucas)

Personally, I think he strived on the support the Liverpool fans gave him. When he was here, the Torres song was sung at every single game, even with him not playing. Despite all the criticism from the media in his final year, he was still treated like a king by us fans. He's not going to get the same treatment from the plastic flag fans.

Not worried about the top teams. But Sunderland seems to be revived under ONeil.
Potential banana.

Suarez seems to like his holidays in the winter as evidenced by his last season at Ajax! biggrin.gif

Yea... What an "awful" match. Haha!
We alsways get disappointed from the middle team like Sundeland, Stoke Bolton and etc. But we were strong when against stronger teams. lol

I believe this term rose to prominence after we played them in the Champions League semi-finals back in 2005. When we visited Stamford Bridge, they had to give away plastic flags to their fans for free. Our fans on the other hand are known to make our own banners (we practice this even here in Malaysia e.g. Masters Football in Std Putra & Friendly game in Bukit Jalil proper.

The fact that they copied a Torres banner of ours after he had signed for them didn't help their cause as they failed to notice that the bottom of the visual was that of the Shankly Gates.

The general impression is therefore that a large majority of their fans are casual fans.

I've met some serious ones in Malaysia though like Aaron from the Chelsea thread.

Great to know carroll has scored rclxms.gif I have always believed in him and i find the criticism of him here unjustified.
It's a difficult month ahead as we have to play tottenham, united at ot and the carling cup final.
I realised the everton fixture has been postponed in favour of the brighton fa cup game.

I actually think that our full color logo is quite tasteless. The Liverbird is class, however it's hard to imagine the club not imposing the full logo on our kit lol. laugh.gif

As for the stripes, no we don't need them.

Yes I do see similarities of Masch in Spearing. Both their work rate and closing down opposition is tremendous. Not to mention they are both short laugh.gif Good thing Spearing doesn't seem to be short-tempered as Masch. I felt Spearing played very well in holding midfielder against Manu. At least way better than KK tried Carra in unorthodox holding midfielder role for him vs ManC.

Spearing is class. He's got that hunger and passion of a Gerrard, the tackling and desire of Mascherano and a decent vision and passes like Alonso.

With Lucas out, it's vital that he starts as the anchorman in midfield.

So, do you guys think Suarez should slot straight back into the team and who goes out for him or he takes a place on the bench?

Player with his flair can't be put on the bench, IMO, but who to take out?

Thank goodness its Kenny making that decision and not me, lol.

i reserve my comment on spearing, i think i want see more from him. Kelly will be a good start cause what he did to Giggs and Evra last match. At the front i would like we start andy caroll. its more defensive/counter attack approach if we play away against top team.

That is high praise indeed. He's improved in leaps and bounds no doubt but he hasn't even peaked yet. In terms of favorite player, he's still got some ways to go. Just off the top of my head, I rate the likes of Gerrard, Carragher, Barnes, Rush, Dalglish, Beardsley, Hamann, Hyypia, Fowler, Alonso, Mascherano, Reina, Berger and Babbel over him in terms of being my favorite player. Lucas may work his way up that list eventually but it will take some doing.

Agger always had the talent. Injuries were/is (hopefully the former) his biggest enemy. Skrtel is surely one of the most improved players and it isn't purely coincidental that his best form coincided with the return of Agger to the side. Carra and Skrtel are too similar. Neither is particularly good on the ball and neither can turn quickly. Agger on the other hand, can dribble as well as any centre back can, and he is a mixture of strength and pace. It's been awhile since we had the best defensive record in the league. Not since the partnership of Hyypia and Henchoz/Carra have we seen a defensive pairing so formidable. Whilst the former pairings were shielded by one Didi Hamann, our newly formed pairing has had little protection since the injury to Lucas with no disrespect to Spearing who quite simply isn't yet in the mould of the Kaiser. We also played a really deep defensive line under Houllier meaning the back four got a lot of protection. We've been playing a higher line under Dalglish, meaning our back four is more exposed. Makes it even more impressive that we have just a good defensive record.

I definitely want to see more of Kelly. I can't remember his ever having a bad game. He was played a lot last season as Johnson was shifted to the left and I don't think he ever made a mistake. Says a lot that England's starting right back was shifted to the other side of the pitch to accommodate Kelly.

Yea Spearing is become better and better for recent game. Hope he keep his current form! Actually last time I don't like him one, maybe due to his appearance (one of the ugliest footballer in BPL, even world).. My apologise. But indeed, he is a good player =) notworthy.gif

Duke,
i manage to catch Kelly mistake bad pass in Manc match... tongue.gif
But i like the style he mark Giggs on previous match. Keep stick with giggs and follow giggs only... Its awesome superb defend!! rclxms.gif

I am aware of that reason, and that's more of the reason why I choose to chide him.

Most of his posts, starting all the way back when I tried to pop in here, were all that "football manager" mentality posts.

And then he has the balls to actually post here saying he couldn't celebrate our win, due to personal incidents, and I'm here like

"WTF do we have to listen to your personal issues? This ain't cupid corner".

Come to think of it, he wasn't really part of us?

Dagger and Skrtel really look comfortable together.
Plus of course, the other backs in Johnson/Kelly and Enrique

i reserve my comment on spearing, i think i want see more from him. Kelly will be a good start cause what he did to Giggs and Evra last match. At the front i would like we start andy caroll. its more defensive/counter attack approach if we play away against top team.

Added on February 3, 2012, 9:55 amlol, we play at home.

Agreed. Kelly is solid but there's still room for improvement for Jay Spearing.

I remember there was an article from a renowned soccer magazine that features the worst player from each EPL team last season.

Spearing was Liverpool's rep in that article.

IIRC players below the age of 20 (or 21) need not register, that's why you don't see Jonjo there as well.

QUOTE
Liverpool have had their ticket allocation for the forthcoming trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United slashed by almost a third
The match on February 11 is likely to see Luis Suarez, banned for eight matches after being found guilty of racially abusing United defender Patrice Evra, make his first appearance away from Anfield since his suspension.

Liverpool's Uruguay striker is certain to receive a hostile reception but there will be 1,000 fewer Reds fans - only 2,100 - inside Old Trafford to see it.

'The safety of all fans is paramount and a detailed risk assessment of the match carried out by Manchester United and agreed by their Safety Advisory Group which includes Greater Manchester Police and Trafford Council has resulted in Liverpool receiving a reduced allocation for this specific game,' said a statement on liverpoolfc.tv.
'This was considered necessary to allow for additional stewarding and segregation plans.'

EXCLUSIVE: Terry loses England armband! FA strip defender of captaincy

John Terry has been stripped of the England captaincy for the second time in his career.
Terry was called at just before 10am this morning by Football Association chairman David Bernstein to announce the decision of the FA board.
And it places the FA on a collision course with manager Fabio Capello, who had told the FA he still wanted Terry to be his captain at the European Championships in the summer.

You really pity someone who can masquerade as a Reds fan and pledge allegiance to the scum...it's like tranvestite, minus the balls or a yin yang man/woman with both genitals...One can understand if you support 2 clubs in the EPL, I admit to that with both hands up...while i support liverpool, I do have a soft spot for Crystal Palace...remembering Ian Wright and Mark Bright in action...and my fav keeper - Nigel Martyn...but both Reds at the same time!!?? Gimme a break...really tell you how low can worms go down to. Worms aside

The match against Spurs will be the match to bring them down to earth, as i think they over, over achieve this season,,,Camon Reds, establish your credential this!! Part of this vendetta is because i dont rate Harry Redknapp, as much as i adores Jamie, but this fella is nothing but buy buy buy.....he buy his way out in all the clubs he manage...how we play Kuyt, as he is vital to keep Bale in-check together with Johno/Kelly either one....would prefer to former, for pace reason.

Carroll need to play, can see he is getting into stride now....given a longer run, we'll really see what he can do...hopefully downing and enrique to bombard the left wing...anticipate an open, free flowing footbal

It's fine to have a soft spot for other teams. About 5 years back, there was a poll comducted in England to identify who fans supported as a second club and Liverpool emerged second behind West Ham. Then again this wasn't an official poll. Point is many fans have second clubs who they follow or have a soft spot for. The clubs I've followed since I started supporting Liverpool are West Ham, Newcastle and Spurs.

I did have a soft spot for arsenal last time but they have become an academy in the last few years. They have been developing young players only to see them leave for barca and city.

Rugi dude. The "Kings of the Castle" series was epic as we beat them 4-3 twice. The win over them in 1996 is still touted as the best Premier League game ever.

Here's something of interest to note. We haven't won as much silverware as our rivals in recent years but we've been involved in some of the best games to date. Aside from the Premier League, the 5-4 UEFA Cup win over Alaves is thought by many to be the most exhilarating final ever. How many times have you seen a final churn out 9 goals from open play?

Here's a letter from an Alaves fans 10 years after we played that final.

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/576666-...-uefa-cup-final

Need I even mention Istanbul? It's listed amongst the top 10 sporting comebacks of all time on many sites. Notice I said "sporting" comebacks and not just "football" comebacks. Also, I doubt you'll ever see the kind of support our lads received when you're losing. The half-time rendition of YNWA was Spine chilling.

I urge you all to read this.

http://thekop.liverpoolfc.tv/_IT-IS-MORE-T...429/173471.html

Best fans? If Istanbul is anything to go by, then yes, you won't find a more loyal or passionate bunch of supporters and there's proof. You won't find another occasion in which so much attention was paid on the fans.

It always confuses me when I see a car decked in both Liverpool and Man Utd colors. I've seen it about 3 times.

Added on February 4, 2012, 9:17 amThe media has been giving the issue of racism a lot of attention focusing on us in particular. Well wonder what they'll make of this then?

So now all mancs are racist? The way they've generalized us, it would appear that it's only fair to assume to.

am really looking forward towards this upcoming match against tottenham, especially so since the last lesson we received at their ground.

despite spurs being in fine form, i think it's a good time to meet them on the pitch, with their manager busy will all the court cases and stuff. i think harry has the tendency to be disillusioned, with all his explanations in the court cases and on his team, claiming his team has been operating on a very tight budget and still doing very well.

doing well, yes. tight budget? they registered 25 players in the latest squad and have 24 players out on loan, which practically makes spurs the biggest squad in the league. redknapp didn't really unearth many gems, he just dug out loads of rocks and scraped a gem or two from tons of failures, and lends the rest to others.

modric and bale are still the players to watch, but with suarez and gerrard back in the team i sincerely believe we can get some result at anfield.

If we can contain Bale and Modric, we hav the upper hand. Lets hope KD can get some one to frustrate the fast paced Bale and the elusive Modric.

Carroll can still notch some high balls onto Suarez path. It was a smart move to ask Suarez to start his ban early so that he is fresh and available for this hardest match of the lot. We have beaten MU and MC recently, i see no reason why we cant beat Spurs.

something interesting I found out.

In Champions League, R. Madrid won the the first trophy permanently. Then there was a second designs and 5 teams won it.

They were:

1. Real Madrid (the first awarded of a second design)
2. Ajax.
3. Bayern Munchen.
4. AC Milan
5. Liverpool

Coincidentally, we won the fifth cup, kept permanently the 5th issue of the Champions League cup before the rules were permanently changed forever in 2009.
2. Ajax (second design 1st
3. Bayern Munchen
4. Milan
5. Liverpool

Coincidentally, we were the 5th team to win the 5th trophy, before the new rules implemented in 2009 did not allow winners to hold the cup.

now, the original cup is on display and held PERMANENTLY.

Even if you win the Champions League now, the most you get is a replica.

In the past, you would be able to keep it for 10 months, but in the new format? Its just for shows. Ha ha!

Not entirely true.

http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/se...ophy/index.html

The current trophy is just the 5th version of the 2nd design. If it is considered as replica, then the one Liverpool keep (4th version of 2nd design) is also a replica because the original (1st version of the 2nd design) was kept by Ajax.

But you are right to say Liverpool will be one of the few to actually keep an original, meaning nobody else apart from the 5, not even Barcelona if they win 10 seasons in a row, will be able to do so again.

PS: I think Real only keep 1, which is the 1st design. After UEFA decided to retire the 1st design, it was given to Real to keep since by that time, they had already won it 6 times. So in a list:

Real = 1.1
Ajax = 2.1
Bayern = 2.2
Milan = 2.3
Liverpool = 2.4
Current = 2.5

If we were to keep spurs 5star attack at bay,we need spearing back.

I said before the man united game that we needed spearing. We didnt have him on the day and as a result we were dominated by old timers.

I fear for our defence if adam plays.Spurs have fastest attack in the league above united, chelsea, arsenal and even man city.

Like some above,i would feel more confident if kelly played instead of johnson to contain bale.

will KD utilise Carroll as a Holding Midfielder since Suarez is back to win the ball over from Modric since he have the height and strength as he is young compared to Spearing

If anyone did watched how our team fare against them last season, you lot should know by now the key is MODRIC. And now this season, they got SCOTT PARKER SUMMORE, NOT TO MENTION VAN DERVAAT. Any way you look at it they do have strong midfield.

Bale normally switch to the right flanck to cut to the inside of the fullbacks. And Enrique isn't particularly good with his right foot.He is rather left footed and he might get caught this way.

Btw can Kelly cope with Bale sudden burst of pace?i tot Johnson accelerate abit quicker but then his defending.... hmm.gif

Spurs is strongest in midfield, they will launch attack from that area, so using a tall and strong player will outshine them,

I wonder who will be starting next game. We have Bellamy who is clearly on form. Carrol won 2 LFC MOTM for the last 2 games. Kuyt scored in 2 games in a row now. Suarez is back. Wow... who will be starting? Bellamy is suspended if I am not mistaken. So, will all 3 of Suarez, Kuyt and Carrol starting next match?
