What's the shipping method? You need to visit the customs at KLIA.

I'm not sure what shipping method is that..but usually what you have to do is print out an invoice by Amazon, drive to KLIA and be prepared to pay tax.

You can try to negotiate with the officers to reduce your tax.

However if you're shipping method is EMS or SpeedPost, you'll be exempted from tax if the total cost of the item you bought is less than RM500 (total cost = item cost + shipping cost).

Btw, how did you receive the letter? Via normal post or PosLaju?

It depends on what's your item. They will refer to a book which shows the percentage of tax you have to pay from different types of items.

I think for figures..its 15%, CDs is around 30% and DVDs is around 50% (according to ketua kastam..not sure true or not)

I got the same problem where I have to drive all the way up to the custom near LCCT only to see a "fat" snake charging me this and that...until I found out a new service.
Check this out...www.vshub.com. Save me a lot of trouble.

Right! And also not that our parcels will get detained by customs everytime.

Henry, next time try not to buy anything which will cost you more than RM500 even if you use EMS/Speedpost. Its risky.. smile.gif

at least not with the real value of the merchandise written on the invoice..
if possible, ask the seller to declare lower values..

Maybe you can call the customs. I've heard that books will not be taxed..but its better for you to confirm with the custom officers.

it is possible...some japan book or magazine sell in kinokuniya bookstore are check by customs and some "nice" pages have tear by the customs staff. Maybe the large import amount will have more chances to get check by customs. I see Dengeki hobby taiwan version also always been tear out some pages at the female figure section, although it is just the whole body swimwear figure vmad.gif

Maybe can try order from HK site. I don't get tax from HK site out of 3 ordering. But get tax from jpn site most of the time. Recently got order one big box hobby ship from hk and exceed rm500. But no tax and straight to my doorstep. Order one small box ab from hlj about rm500 and stop at custom. Even didn't tax, but got to declare at custom. Waste my time to go there. Damn.

the chances of getting taxed has no relation to which country you order your stuff from. it depends on luck.. and HLJ declares real value for the parcel thats why we dont buy too much in one shipment from there.
