Hello cow, can i know how to change the launcher? I thought of using GO launcher since I like the feel more. I tried running GO launcher + GO sms. Okay for yesterday. This afternoon, wifi cannot connect cuz everytime i turn it on, it will search for device then off by itself.. After i restart phone, my GO launcher and GO sms disappear, as if I uninstalled it. And my wifi cant turn on also, straight say error. lol.
*
To change launcher, simply install a new one. It will ask whether you want to make it default. About the turn on wifi +sleep crashed, this has been fixed long time ago... emm... Slim Shady no affected. Latest ROM not affected...

As if I want to disable some startup programs per se, does rooted phone can do that?

Because I sense there is some unknown program at startup...Like AP Mobile and others...
Cannot be killed before...Any advice?
*
Actually, you dont need root to see that. Reboot, Go to settings, application, running services. check what is running. on my rom, only the following running:

- Settings
- Task manager
- Swype

(Sometimes Google Services too, but safe to kill)

Can definitely kill any of them. But if u dont want it to start after reboot, should uninstall it. biggrin.gif

if rooted, i think can use tool to freeze it...

In my running services got too much annoying apps...Is it safe to kill ??  This is the list of apps that running :

- Email ( Got 2 of them )
- Google Services
- Social Hub
- AccuWeather.com
- Yahoo Finance
- AP Mobile
- SyncmIDS
All of the above im not using and never use it actually...So is it safe for me to kill it and uninstall ??

How about startup programs? Some of them cannot be killed...
*
My SlimShady ROM was created to get rid of those annoying app. biggrin.gif But you can do it yourself now that you are rooted. Those app can be found in /system/app . Use root explorer, you can delete those app, it's like uninstall.

But with more power, comes more risk. any wrong delete, you system may not boot! for example, dont delete TouchWiz30Launcher.apk! that's the launcher....

so, before u start deleting anything, i definately recommend you to use ClockWorkMod to do a full backup on your phone. Anything wrong, u can always restore...

so, which one is safe to delete? can use my Slim Shady ROM as a guide for list of app i removed:

You suggest which option for Supercharger V6? I remembered you said option 6 right? But I see option 2, 3 as aggressive one. 4 5 6 as balanced. Which one should I use?
*
I tested a few of them. My ROM uses option 5, seem best for me. But you can test them out.

supercharger v6, best read from author himself.

what i can tell you, it adjust the low memory killer (among other things).

u see, although android is linux, but it is designed a bit different. in desktop, linux has lotsa disk space and memory, kill app is definitely not a good idea. that's why most desktop OS uses swap file / pagefile, etc. rarely used memory will be 'paged' to disk.

android has better memory management for small device - low memory killer. whenever the system is low on memory, it will start killing application!

which one to kill first? who is next? what condition to meet before start killing the next?

these are control in 2 attributes:

1) associates each app to their group using oom_adj (out of memory adj)
- foreground running app - group 0.
- visiable_app - group 1 (other app that visiable, but not on focus)
- secondary_server - group 2
....
- empty_app - group 15.

you can control this by changing /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/adj

2) set a memory condition when it will start kill group of app
- this can be control from /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree
- take 6 values, ie: 1536,2048,6656,6912,7168,7168
- start killing group 15 when free memory lower than 7168x4k
- start killing group 1 when free memory lower than 1536*4k

so, supercharger v6 adjust these 2 values. it will change the behavior of low memory killer. u can configure it to be very aggressive or otherwise.

@.@ Then what's wrong with the step? Anyway... I found the directory.  laugh.gif  Now on Option 6. How if I want to apply other option? Just run the script again and run them right? Hell yeah... My homescreen is totally LOCKED. ROCKS!  blush.gif
*
to get your homescreen lock, basically just add this into your "/system/build.prop"

ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=0

0 = same group with foreground app, so, it will be the last to get killed.

if u use the script, it will do everything for you. tongue.gif

but if u know about low memory killer, u can basically apply whatever u see fit to your phone. nod.gif

Ask u... Those numbers. 8 16 24 ... ... what does that mean? I see the aggressive option 1. The last number is 50. I think is 50MB. Does that mean it starts killing when RAM<50?

Option 5. U using cow's rom?
I asked after I read that. Lol... My idleing memory usage still around 260 but it doesn't reload the launcher. Multitask is easier now  thumbup.gif
*
Let say u chose:

6,12,75,90,95,125 MB

That mean, if less than 125mb free, u kill empty_app group.
If less than 95 free, u start killing content provider group.
...
if less than 6mb free, u kill front app group too!

As you can see, if too aggressive, most app end up got killed, and got reloaded (some app will simply reload) and thus should drain more battery too... there is give and take. rolleyes.gif

LOL. So... Now i'm using Option 5. The launcher is in Group 0? Possible to make even launcher get killed?  blush.gif
*
by default, launcher is no group 0, it will only become 0 when u select say, "Bulletproof launcher". delete "ro.HOME_APP_ADJ=0" in /system/build.prop will set it back to normal, thus, killable. for that matter, if u want it to get killed easiest, just increase the adj value.

this is the control u have without using the script biggrin.gif

ps: if you have twlauncher (which eat RAM!) selecting bulletproof is not a good choice LOL

i have hard-coded the value in init.rc (which will automatically revert back to my value every reboot).

but v6 should be able to fix this. i m not sure why v6 didn't work.

how about you try to use this newer v6? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread...18#post18703418

lastly, you can manually change that by:

echo "1536,3072,19200,23040,24320,32000" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/minfree

the value is for option 6 of the new v6. it's not permanent. to make it permanent, put this into /system/etc/init.qcom.post_boot.sh

if u use that value, u also should adjust the adj as well:

echo "0,1,2,3,4,15" > /sys/module/lowmemorykiller/parameters/oom_adj

How about you try this?

Part 1: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?t4t2rlcthdlk2te
Part 2: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?1woxkq29ldonmmm

It is non-oc. Use 7zip, right click on part 1, extract will produce a .zip file. Put that into your /sdcard/. Use CWM flash it.
