Aiks... My battery life macam not that tahan d. Last time full charge unplug can remain 98% after 8 hours. Now 96% after 7~8hours. Which damn apps is eating my battery.
*
wanted to tell u earlier, any freq below 368mhz is also using same VDD=900. so, even if your lowest freq = 122mhz, still using same voltage, no difference in battery life.

also, if u set your max to 1ghz, in theory, should save some battery, which VDD=1200 compare stock 1.4ghz (1275), but in real life, there is possibility App run slower, everything need more time to execute, say, loading an App takes 2 ms, now takes 2.1ms, not noticeable for human, but in long run, CPU running at 1ghz longer. whereas if at 1.4ghz, it takes 2 ms, finished, it automatically switch back to low freq.

but these stuff are very hard to justify. so, u try with various setting, chose something which you think best for interaction / battery.

My new ROM is up. Codename: Cow in Black. Available in both OC and non-OC.

- 360MB ram
- New CPU governors - OnDemandX, SmartAssV2, MinMax
- zRAM
- All Black theme

If you are upgrading from any of my previous ROM, just use CWM to install it, no need clear anything. Keep all your settings and App.

If you are installing it from stock ROM or other custom ROM, recommended to do this before installing:

1. Format both Internal and External SD card (my ROM swap internal / external sd, if u dont format, could cause problem)
2. Use CWM to clear all cache, wipe system, etc

After installing my ROM:
- Do not restore anything app from Titanium or anything. Install all app fresh.

Enjoy more RAM, more Speed!

Cow, how to combine the part 1 and part 2 file together for the Cow in Black OCV.
I tried compress both file into 1 compressed file and flash it but aborted.
It mention Can't open /emmc/usbStorage/GT-I8150_COW_IN_BLACK_OCV.7z.zip (bad)
Is there any step i missed?
*
4. Put the zip (1 file only) into Internal SD. If you downloaded the file in parts, you need to extract it (using 7zip) into only 1 zip.

Detailed steps:

1. right click on GT-I8150_COW_IN_BLACK.7z.001 chose extract (using 7zip).
2. u will get GT-I8150_COW_IN_BLACK.zip

Can?

I am using cow's latest rom, i would like to use go keyboard but it keep revert to samsung keyboard, any way to solve this? thanks.
*
Short answer, yes. Do this:

*Make sure you already has Go Keyboard installed.*

adb shell
pm disable com.diotek.ime.diopencn.dx.b2b.ancora
pm disable com.sec.android.inputmethod.axt9

Long answer, this happen because you Clear Memory in Task Manager, or using some Memory management tool. If you set to GO Keyboard, and reboot, you will still using Go Keyboard. But if the keyboard is forcefully closed (Clear memory in Task Manager, etc), the Server Manager will detect this, and thought there is something wrong with the keyboard. It will automatically chose the last known good keyboard; which most of the case samsung keyboard.

So, as long as you dont use Clear Memory, or dont kill your Go keyboard, it won't go away.

Using Cow In Black non-oc or OC?

OC version will drain battery much faster right?  unsure.gif
*
OC version will give you more battery. This is because by default it is using 1.4ghz, which has underclocking voltage.

But if you change your max freq to 1.8ghz, it will drain more battery.

Yes, connect phone to pc.

Alternatively, you can use Terminal emulator. But must "su" first.

if u using 4th ROM, simply install the zip. no need to wipe anything. all contact, msg, songs should be there.

however, before installing anything, i still recommend you to do a nandroid first.

if u not using Stock ROM, you can just install the theme:

without changing anything else icon_rolleyes.gif

I wanna ask a few questions smile.gif

1: The notification bar, did you make it transparent?
2: To make the RAM capacity bigger, what did you do? Will anything from my phone be affected because the RAM has been expanded slightly?
3: Have you tested whether got FC's or not?
*
1. Ya, semi transparent. I didn't do it. The theme is from my talented friends: Mohd Fazrin Daud and Ilyana Isa

2. The RAM was expanded by:
- Recompile the kernel using latest GCC 4.6.1 compiler with option to remove debugging symbols, etc.
- Reduce the buffer allocated for Video / Audio recording. Stock ROM allocated X memory for this. I reduce it and test, recording still working, even on 720p. If you recording still work, nothing to worry about.

3. Most FC is due to:
- Restoring old app after flashing.
- Incomplete flashing

So, dont restore app / sms. If still got problem, use CWM and flash it again.

I tested all the ROM I release. Obviously, I wont release them if even myself got FC... wink.gif

stock rom, best do this:

"7. If you are installing from stock or from other custom ROM, best to wipe everything using CWM, including your USB and external sd card. Reinstall everything from fresh, don't restore anything from Titanium Backup or anything."
