Had it pretty bad for a day but I think it was more of an incompatibility from an ICS theme app for GO Launcher I installed. Did a factory reset and avoided that app and it didn't FC anymore.

thumbup.gif thanks Alex.

if it's not caused by those, i am gonna need logcat to be able to help to diagnose that fattchoi...

Also, Buddies Now seem to FC occasionally even when I leave the phone idling and I don't even use that widget.

Ya, someone reported that, I removed the BuddiesNow.apk from V4 ROM. Safe to be removed using Root Explorer as well. Maintaining a ROM is a lot of work! I actually prefer to spend more time tweaking the kernel blush.gif

Done testing OnDemandX for 24 hours. Consumed 20% battery in a day of light use... A little better than SmartAssV2.

SmartAssV2 - 24 hours = 100%-78% = 22% battery
OnDemandX - 24 hours = 100%-80% = 20% battery

Both these CPU governor should save battery better than default OnDemand since they both implemented the Early Suspend API, which allow the phone to be switch to power saving immediately after user press screen off, etc. The result will be more visible (compare to default OnDemand) if there are many screen on/off in the session (I think).

I am gonna include these 2 CPU governor in the next ROM / Kernel release. Will let user to chose the one they prefer. Am considering may be I should include MinMax as well.

Same problem. Sometimes last a bit then will hang when open application or just open folder. So i just OC to 1.7Ghz and no problem til now. Wifi n skype on 24h with <1h call + few sms can last me 30 hours.. But 1 thing, somehow my wifi connection is super slow! Keep having error when supposedly i have no problem.. Sometimes okay. SO now I feel annoyed only cuz of this. Other than that, no complains..

Btw, just 1 thing. Where can i get fonts for the phone? I dont wanna change the launcher since i'm happy the way it is. I just need fonts. Thanks in advance.

As I recommended in the first page of my ROM:

"Recommend to use SetCPU set your default speed to 1.4Ghz. Adjust to 1.8Ghz only when necessary. Also it is recommended to set a Profile that will lower the speed in temp > 50C, you know, just in case."

The way I use it, I always set it to 1.4ghz. Only rare occasion I set to 1.8ghz, for a short while.

I have a couple of questions about the Overclock version for Cow's ROM.

1; Why is it all the applications that I restored using Titanium Backup Pro is not in Market's "My Apps" list?

2; Why whenever I Clear my RAM all the running applications such as LBE Guard (I use this for my Data count) and Battery Indicator (to show how many % of battery remaining) will automatically flush away too? Previously on Stock ROM even if I clear the RAM these two applications will not go off.

3; After a day or so of using, I notice the device seem to get very laggy. So laggy until turning off the screen itself takes a few seconds. To perform a RAM clearance itself takes me up to 2 minutes to perform.
*
1. Sorry, I am not using Titanium Backup... not really sure why...

2. The low memory killers has been adjusted to be more aggressive.

3. 2 minutes to clear RAM? LOL, look like this is a world record. Without logcat, I can't diagnose it.

Default is 1.4ghz until you change it

About the memory killer, you can change that using V6 Supercharger if you dont want it to be too aggressive.

Allow me to suggest when installing CWG's ROM whether it is the OC or None OC or Slim n Shandy Version...

Do the Following :

Great!!! I hope admin can put this in first page of this forum since many in this forum reported FC and all while using my ROM. I don't get many FC report in XDA forum, but I know people has been using it cause my download (in MediaFire - just check) 386 for the new ROM biggrin.gif

I hope to reply any questions about my ROM, but have been busy testing new stuff (other than new governor). Here is some glimpse: Memory usage 103mb, available 353mb. Total free = 250mb!

I love the launcher and all, but the application drawer is an eyesore.

Just install a new launcher, and delete /system/app/org.zeam-1.apk

personally, i really like zeam biggrin.gif it's super small. i actually waited a few weeks to get permission from cloakt to use this launcher in my ROM biggrin.gif

Lol, so weird. Everytime i reflash Cow's rom, after 1 day will start having error out of the blue.  I wiped data, cache and delvik cache before reflash. Before you ppl say I install too many apps, I only install poweramp, GO sms, battery ETA and advance task killer cuz i like that more than standard task manager. After 1 day or few hours, will start crashing. Example of force close program is endless, zeamlauncher, market, android process. Then sometime cant access camera and also when wanna connect to wifi =, wifi will auto off. HAHA. when this happen, I just reflash cuz I need to contact ppl quite a lot. Dun wanna waste time waiting for fix. But it is troublesome cuz i lose data and have to reinstall some programs...

Anyway, this is NOT a rant. Just honestly telling my problem, hoping for advice/fix. I'm not bashing the rom, just reporting. Thanks in advance.
*
Some people managed to solve the problem by NOT restoring any app / contact. Install new app. Contact, sync with goolge contact, etc. I don't recommend restoring app (using Titanium or not) because the new ROM swap your internal / external SD. there could be problem. for that matter, if you start getting crash and all, best you format / clear both your internal / external sd card before flashing.

in short, if you follow everything documented here, but still has FC, you still have 2 options:

1) Provide me the logcat where I can diagnose it:
- connect phone to notebook
- adb logcat > log.txt
- do something on the phone to cause FC
- in notebook Task Manager, kill all adb processes
- PM me the log.txt

2) Restore back to stock ROM. I think this is most stable biggrin.gif

any solution ?????

Hmm.. interesting. Can you provide logcat so I can check?

- connect phone to notebook
- adb logcat > log.txt
- do something on the phone to cause the error (ask friend to send u sms lar)
- in notebook Task Manager, kill all adb processes
- PM me the log.txt

Same for anyone getting error / FC, without some details, it's hard for me to check what's going on.

what not capable? i think u may got the wrong info. SGW is definitely capable. the only 'excuse' samsung given is that the ROM has not enough space for ICS. this is totally BS. having built some custom ROM myself, i know this is totally BS.

ICS can run on Galaxy W. CM9 will prove it.

Juicy news! Thanks. I really like this:

"And I'll tell you right away, ICS on a device having a GPU is sooo much better than on a device without it."

He is talking about our SGW ^o^ I checked his github, he fixed the Headphone issue already. ^^

if yes, be prepared for bumpy ride! you may make mistake, stuck somewhere, but trying out new stuff and ideas give you more experiences. you will love you SGW even more biggrin.gif

+1 experience rclxms.gif

kezra v4 is a good choice! but, step by step, root first... get ClockWorkMod first...

Okay about ClockWorkMod...Ive read the thread in XDA about it...And my brain just rclxub.gif

Can you explain to me about this mod...Whats the function...Advantage of it... rolleyes.gif
*
ClockWorkMod replace your "recovery" partition. Every smart phone has a recovery partition. Something bad happen, you can press the magic key, code inside the recovery partition will execute. Usually used to restore the phone back to factory setting.

Once you follow the process to replace the default "recovery" partition, whenever you press that magic key, ClockWorkMod will start. Developer added functionality in CWM so that you can format phone, install custom ROM, etc.

Un? Heheh

Okay I understand now...Seems like that mod is important if im gonna root/kernal...

Another question from me, let say im gonna root my device...Do i have to make a backup first for all the apps ??
And whats the different i will experience after rooting my device ?? And is it safe to root via recovery mode ?
*
you seem quite confused about rooting and recovery.

root = get admin access in your phone. u can root by:
1) running exploit such as zergrush, may not work in your phone is fully udated
2) flash the recovery partition using Odin. should always work regardless if your phone is updated. but installing CWM only first step. you are not getting ROOT yet. you still need to use CWM to install a custom ROM / kernel that will root the phone for you.

so, usually installing CWM is normally quite safe. no need to backup anything. wont change your app. (but i did backup my original recovery partition just in case if wanna claim warranty or anything)

once u use CWM to install custom ROM, this is the part that will drastically change your phone OS and app. that is why, before you install any custom ROM, you are always reminded to use CWM to do a full backup on your phone. the built-in backup and restore in CWM will do that for you.

without them, very hard to install custom ROM. moreover, they are good because if anything goes wrong, can use them to restore the phone.

What's kezra? Erm... Will you recommend just root and use supercharger v6? Seems you ROM is having problem for quite a number of user. I'm considering just root and apply some fixes through script.
*
KezraPlane is the first person to create a custom ROM for SGW (as far as I know). his ROM is already version 4, many claim it is very stable. worth a try.

My ROM? some got it working, some has problems. if not working for you, move on! there are other quality ROM. but what my ROM offer that no other ROM can offer (at the moment):

1. fastest - 1.8ghz
2. most memory - 353mb
3. lowest memory usage - 103mb (this is vary depending on usage)
4. Undervolting - save more battery
5. CPU governors - OnDemandX and SmartAssV2 - more responsive and save more battery.

i am adding zram option soon too. will allow you to use compressed ramdrive, in short:

more memory in expense of CPU cycles

there are many drastic changes in my ROM and kernel, but i only has 1 phone and use free time to do this. so, dont expect it to be more stable than stock ROM.

anyway, for u, u root first lar... sweat.gif
