Thanks kytz for the recommendations. I did some research with the 2 model that you recommended and found out that the Lumix LX5 had an improved model which is LX7. Is there a vast difference between them? Worth the upgrade?

Sorry, although I did my research, I am practically a normal beginner user and not really the technical guy when it comes to camera specs.

Thanks smile.gif Hope to get your feedback

Try the Lumix LX5 or LX7, Canon S110 or S120, Olympus XZ2 smile.gif

If you can find a good deal on the Sony RX100, even better smile.gif

Since your requirement is very very niche, a simple google search should do just fine smile.gif

I can't recommend any since I have no such requirement biggrin.gif

Been using Canon G12 for years.
Looking something similar with G12 for the screen, can rotate and flip to front.
G16 is nice but the screen is a drawback for me.

hopefully someone can recommend me.

THanks.

Hi, you can try looking for the Sony RX100 Mark 3 and see whether the street price can match your budget or not. Else, there's the really nice Sony A5100 with flippy screen smile.gif

Or should I just get a GoPro?

You can try to stretch your budget slightly for the Sony A6000. Can get around RM2-2.2k [do ya own homework]

Worth every $$

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Portrait Lense
Budget : RM1000+
Your Location : JB & SG
Preferable brand : None. As long is compatible with Canon 70D
Type of photography u want to do : Portrait, Street Photography
Any specific models in mind? : None
Any specific features u want? : Silent, and would be nice if there is stabilization

Remarks: I'm going to trade off my Tamron 17-55mm lense due to compatibility issue with my Canon 70D. Personally feel like 85mm is much useful on my photography. Might be getting Canon 50mm 1.8 along with 85mm lense cheapo for special case.

You mean the 17-50 lens? What compatibility issue?

Mostly is due to videography. The recording can only record for around 10sec then the video recording will stop. I will hear the live view close sound, and after google for a while, I realize I'm not the only one who is having the same issue. This one will only happen to VC version1. For version2 there is no issue. But anyhow, because this is not really a STM/ silent lense, so during videography, I will definitely hear the zoom sound which it will be recorded as well. That's why I need to change the portrait lense.
*
Ehhhh video recording stops? I thought that's due to memory card issue hmm.gif

Btw guys, any bags recommended for this A5100 ??
*
That's quite a broad and general question lol.

Basically there are 2 main types: Sling or backpack.

Sling bags are generally much lighter than backpack but backpacks usually can put more stuff and are easier for your shoulders..

The lens is more important than the camera especially for macro. You could easily get a compact camera with a Raynox macro filter which might get you good results (google it) or if you want really good stuff, get an interchangeable lens camera with a dedicated macro lens.

Grab any tom dick and harry camera within your budget. RM500-700 is just way too saturated with generic models with hardly any interesting features unless you're talking about RM1k+ cameras

1) What do you mean by "fast shooting" ?

2) Low light is sure challenging for precise continuous focusing during video recording. Suggest you check video reviews on this smile.gif

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Compact camera / mirrorless
Budget : RM1500-RM2000
Your Location : KL
Preferable brand : Any
Type of photography u want to do : Travel
Any specific models in mind? : Sony A5100, A6000, RX100 M2 or M3
Any specific features u want? : Small/pocketable for traveling and easy to use.

In dilemma which one to choose... but currently leaning more toward to A5100. But a bit worry whether it is a bit bulky for traveling.

Some facts:
A5100
- Small (but not really pocketable)
- Large sensor
- Spec almost similar to A6000
- Within my budget (Currently around RM1500~)

A6000
- Not really small or pocketable.
- Large sensor
- Slightly more expensive than A6000, but the current promotion for it is very tempting. (RM2000+freebies)

RX100 M2
- Small and pocketable
- cheaper than M3 (RM1800) but more expensive than A5100.
- Old model and spec not as good as M3.

RX100 M3
- Small and pocketable.
- most expensive of all (more expensive than the A6000)
- Spec better than M2.
*
How important is pocketability? As in actually putting in your pocket biggrin.gif

I used the A6000 for travelling and it's great. Doesn't feel heavy at all. Discrete enough so it won't be attracting attention.

Plus it's versatile as you can use different lenses with it should you become more serious about photography smile.gif

Yeah the successor is bound to show up anytime now considering the A6000 is 1 and a half years old already hmm.gif

But it's still a really good performer smile.gif

You have to check the sellers ratings and feedback. Lazada is just a platform for sellers to sell stuff.
