I'm really having serious trouble in choosing a camera to buy.
I'm buying for travelling purpose, but I also want the quality to turn out to be good.
I've been thinking whether to buy a dslr or a mirrorless for the whole month, and I still can't decide yet. I'm going to explode soon. lol.

DSLR if im buying, im going to get either canon 650d/nikon5200
Mirrorless im currently looking at panasonic lumix gx7, sony nex6/7 and olympus em-5

I'm really not sure man. As this is my first camera, I don't want to regret after buying it. I don't want to compromise quality of image, but I also want portability. Image quality is all about lenses??

I'm tired of thinking on my own. I need help. Budget is rm3000-4000

If you're serious on image quality, I strongly suggest u better get Sony mirrorless camera. Sony mirrorless camera using APS-C sized image sensor which same as what DSLR using, and thus image quality is very similar with DSLR. Compare with Panasonic & Olympus, both of them is using Micro 4/3 image sensor, which is smaller than standard DSLR image sensor. Since all Sony, Panasonic, Olympus all using contrast detection autofocus, their AF performance not much differences.
Sony NEX-7 & NEX-6 is Sony's best mirrorless camera & a lot of professional photographer recommend these 2 camera. Good handling, great image quality, reliable AF performance thumbup.gif

Greeting all sifu..need a help in choosing camera
Type of camera/lens/accesories :Mirrorless
Budget: RM2k
Your Location: KL
Preferable brand : Canon,nikon,sony
Type of photography u want to do : Potrait, landscape, indoor
Any specific models in mind? : Nex5T,nx300
Any specific features u want? : nothing bulky, outcome on par wif dslr cam,

Currently i'm shopping for new camera and i really torn btween nx300 and nex5T..i do some survey at few stores in mid..current offer for nx300 is 1799 with accessories kit worth 499 n adobe lightroom worth rm500..as for nex5T,current offer is almost the same with 16gb memory, carrying bag, sony class, and rechargeble battery..my concern is btween these two,how is the comparison in term of photo quality..n how is samsung reliability..since samsung is *new* player in digital camera ( in my opinion ) is it worth to consider nx300..
Dear all sifus,please enlighten me..TQ🙏

Although both Sony and Samsung is using APS-C size image sensor, however there's huge difference in between them, no matter in terms of performance and quality. For most of photographer's review and my experience, image output from Sony DSLR & mirrorless camera quite outstanding, especially indoor or lowlight situation, there's still lesser noise, clean image, and detail still remain even using high ISO sensitivity. Autofocus is quite reliable, too!!! Most of Samsung camera is more for fancy function, but image quality is still far behind Sony, and autofocus accuracy is not as good as Sony. And there's funny part is, most of Samsung camera performance is worse than most of Olympus camera even Olympus using smaller image sensor (Micro 4/3).
The conclusion is, if you really serious on photography, image quality, performance and portability at the same time, I strongly suggest Sony mirrorless camera

For entry level DSLR, that's not much difference in between Sony, Canon, or Nikon. Sony AF system is faster than Nikon and Canon (for entry level). Auto White Balance side, Nikon colour is warmer meanwhile Canon colour is cooler. Depends which result u prefer.
Sony DSLR, I suggest u get Sony A58. It AF performance is very good for entry range camera. Sony NEX-5T is one of the good choice, too

given me the chance again i will go for the cheapest setup for street photography during traveling. head on to lazada get Olympus epl3 at rm899. find or look for panasonic prime lens 17mm/f1.7 if I'm not mistaken. google up.. additional rm1400 yes what's important is the lens imo.

reason mirrorless over dslr?
easy to carry and with the pancake lens you can just slip it in your pocket.
the prime lens has a damn good aperture making it good for indoor photography where light ing is a concern.
as off why Olympus epl3? it's cheap and comes with a cheap flash. oh yah build in autofocus too.

Type of camera/lens/accesories : Point Shoot Camera
Budget: As low as possible <1000
Your Location: Cheras, KL
Preferable brand : None

Any specific models in mind? : None
Any specific features u want? Require advice on camera since my current camera is an old olympus stylus digital 500.
Camera is for travelling so it needs to be compact. If possible I would prefer non touch screen since I will use the camera in a cold place (wearing gloves)
Require image stabilizer

Heyya guys and gals....

I'm planning to get my very first DSLR and am leaning favorably towards the EOS 700D with 18-135mm kit. From my amatuerish research, I find that the 700D is better suited to me as a total fresh beginner in DSLR photography compared to a nikon (was eyeing the D5200) as it is easier to learn the ropes of photography with canon's intuitive on board guides and user friendly controls. Nikons are better suited for those with some basics of photography but gives out better quality pictures from what I gather. But then again, from what I learn is that it's not just the equipment that matters in photography. If you have the top of the line equipment but the person using it is mediocre. You the answer to that.

Now, here are the couple of million dollar questions I wanted you guys to help me with.
1) Is it true of what I mentioned above ? Ha..Ha....
2) Is it safe to buy cameras from Lazada as they seemed to give some of the lowest if not almost ridiculously low prices anywhere ?

Thanks in advance for the answers guys and gals....

Yup, it's a good deal i guess with the bundled accessories included. Wouldn't there be tax involve at the border when you come back to M'sia ?

Well, if that's the case. I'm not really the guy to give you pointers on which camera you should get as I'm too a newbie.... welcome to the newbie club..... hehehe...... But if I'm in your shoes, I'll go for the Canon as Canon cameras are more newbie friendly with it's intuitive on board guides. Helps immensely for us newbie to learn the ropes faster. Nikon off course give better quality photograph. But if you already have some basics in photography and don't mind doing a bit extra tweaking manually, then the Nikons will be a better bet. Like me, my knowledge in photography is almost zilch.... which is why I'm going for Canon.

You should ask some of the sifus in here as their knowledge should be much more attuned to your needs. In the end, it is down to which camera that you are comfortable with and caters to your needs.

That is acually another good reason to get a certain type of camera. As lenses especially good ones can be quite intimidating in the price department, shareability is a very valid reason to by certain brands of camera.

Does anone know this one shop in Sunway pyramid in front of canon concept store. Has anyone ever deal/buy from them ? Are their products come with genuine warranty ? Went and have a look and got a pretty sweet quote fr a 700D. 2699 before canon rebate. Which rouse my curiosity as to whether their warranty are in house or direct canon Malaysia. Anyone knows ?
