Sony α58? Pretty much the only Sony DSLR camera for your budget nod.gif

Unless if you don't mind a mirrorless camera, then you can consider Sony's NEX3 icon_rolleyes.gif

First and foremost, the difference of quality between waterproof cameras and those enthusiast compacts (LX7,XZ-1,S110,RX100,P7100,G1-X) is pretty big due to the compromises that has to be done on the waterproof cameras to keep it sealed up against water.

You can try the Oly XZ-2, Lumix LX5, Canon S110, etc smile.gif

When I went to buy a camera such things were in my mind but at that moment I was not able to think about these things, I just bought any random one. I think we should made a proper list and than go for buying like you have added.

Should be similar given that both use the same lens?

Anyhow, you have to decide yourself on whether you don't mind a heavier/bulkier camera or a smaller and lighter camera?

A DSLR obviously has an advantage when it comes to versatility (with those control dials and knobs and general usability) whereas a smaller camera like the NEX series would be great for the size and all. Image quality wise I would say both are pretty good actually.

You can try the Canon 1100D or the Nikon D3200, I'm not sure of Sony's offering. Once you got them already (with the kit lens), please do go for some photography workshops as they're pretty useful for newcomers smile.gif

I don't know the prices, so you have to do your own homework. Iirc LX7 should be out of your budget.

Look for lelong.com.my/shashinki/LYN garage sales for prices
