I do build a couple of forums in the past but nowadays people are more active in Facebook. How about the Honda Insight Malaysia Facebook page? I can't seem to access it.
*
Hm..but facebook in not so practical.
is it better to have a proper sections so ppl wont have a repeated questions and answers. Easy for reader to search for specific topics.

examples sections:-

-General Discussion
-Engine & Performance Modifications
-Exterior Styling & Bodywork
-Wheels, Suspension & Tyres
-Interior Modifications, Security Gadgets & Other Gizmos
-ICE Cold Modifications
-Technical Discussion and Issues
-DIY Projects

another problem, some work place cant access to facebook, like my ofice sad.gif

chizzu, do u think u can build for us? i can help in any ways i can...how about other forumer?

I've experienced working on forum, just to share my experienced.
There's a lot of effort need to be done,

Cost
1) vbulletin licensed if you want something like lowyat.net. - one time licensed usd285 (free one is out there like phpbb)
2) dedicated hosting plan which can support concurrent user. shared hosting is not capable to support forum. rm250-350 per month for better spec hosting server
3) domain name. rm35

Prevent Intrusion

1) spammers - spammer will create login and post advertisement. some spambot can bypass captcha.
2) hacker - potential will be attack by hacker and wipe out all data in the forum.

Moderators

1) where to look for trusted moderators? - they are not paid and will they work hard for you?
2) people come and go, you have trained them again.

Support & Backup

1) who will monitor the backup although it is auto triggered.
2) who will handle the support (with hosting provider or user who discover the bugs) if any bugs found in the forum or site down.

Profit

1) with so many effort, how we can generate more income (sponsor or google ads) and how to share?

there is not much profit can be made as insight is not a very popular car and target audience is niche. unless u build a forum call green car or hybrid which include toyota and later on proton.
*
If other forums like, teamcity, http://hcoc.net.my,http://eightgc2.forumup.com can do it, I cant see why we cant. Just need more members to support and share to build up.

To combine toyota and honda hybrid into 1 forum sounds like a good idea though.

what about this forum provider?
http://www.zetaboards.com/

http://avanzamalaysia.com is using this.

It can be done, if you have the support, time and effort to do it. If you use zetaboards, you only have limited functionality and no control over the board. The board cannot be customize to your needs, perhaps in future or add advertisement as you like.

I think hcoc not so successful. Post are not up to date.
In total there are 8 users online :: 0 registered, 0 hidden and 8 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)
Most users ever online was 51 on Wed Mar 23, 2011 11:57 pm

Successful forum provide fresh content, up to date info and contribution/support from users to post and help new user to stay and come back again. The problem I've faced last time is there is only few active member and most of them are sleeping member, end up I have to google and dig the info to post back. If new user doesn't get  what they want they wont come back. Slowly the forum die off and all effort wasted. If can, go global not just Malaysia.

If you can solved all this problems then it will be a success.
*
hm....well we need to start somewhere. we can use the basic forum provider to start off and when it gets better, change to a better forum provider...

lets have a vote and see how many lowyat forum agree to support and help on building an official forum.

Weekday: Seldom drive or very short distant for ta bao only.
Weekend: Friday, Sat, Sunday drive up to almost 100KM

do u park under the sun everyday?
No park under the sun. park under cover car park.

when drive do u stop at many places and off engine and on many times?
Nope, seldom on off when driving at weekend. around 3 or 4 times(Maximum) stop when went out for whole day.
*
I'm not sure whether is this correct. Maybe other members can confirm this. To my experience, seldom drive the car like only drive 2 or 3 times in a week, eventually the petrol will drain out. When I did not drive for a week, my car did not reach the usual KM that I usually get.

By ON and OFF engine too many times, and park under the sun for long period of time like for a week or so, also will drain off the petrol. Since you are not facing this, so dont bother.

Its time to look at the Prius or the Prius C.  Just normal driving can easily get 20km/l.  That is the difference between Hybrid Synergy Drive vs IMA.  Not here to flame, but that is the facts.
*
all these comes down on budget and size. if prius c has the size of insight, definitely i get prius c.
to be honest, if prius (normal prius) price is similar to insight rather than 140k, definitely i get prius.

ofcoz we know Hybrid Synergy Drive better than ima,
is the budget and the needs of car space to be consider.

How come the petro filter so expensive?

*
The fuel filter 3++ is the standard price. My Honda city also cost around there.

U guys can plan your own service schedule need not to follow Honda 100% like I mentioned before. Before your reach to major service or 40k or 80k. U can change certain part before and after 40k. For example change CVTF at 30k, change break oil at 35k. The. 40k only do the expensive service parts like fuel filter. Then 45k change air filter the. 50k AirCon service and aircon filter. Just try to manage yourself. I have been doing this for my 2007 Honda city and my current mileage now is 110k. No issues on warranty void. Don't let the service centre bully you.

If u go through in details, allot of things is unnessesary. U can cancel it in the invoice when they show u before they start servicing your car.

For 40k service
Some ppl may disagree. But this is only my way of doing it and my point of view. If you dont agree. Don't follow. Please don't shoot me.

1. CVT. have u done this before? ( advisable to change CVTF every 20k. If yes the do it on 35k or 45k.

2: ENGINE OIL. Compulsory every service
3: OIL FILTER. Compulsory every service
4:PETROL FILTER. Compulsory every 40k
5: BRAKE OIL. Skip to 35k or 45k
6: DUST AND POLLEN FILTER.(assume is AirCon filter. Skip to 35 or 45k.
7: TIGHTEN UNDERCARRIAGE RM 0
8: BRAKE PAD INSPECTION RM 0
9: ENGINE WASHER. Compulsory When change oil.
10: CVT WASHER. Compulsory when change CVTF
11: ENGINE RETAINER. Not sure what is this.

This is just my way of how I schedule my service. So it is up to u.

Hey guys,i've been following this insight thread for almost 6 months...coz im considering to get an Insight soon  tongue.gif ,so need to do some researches,hehee...recently i read an article about 'why you shouldnt buy hybrid car' from this link  http://1simpleplan.blogspot.com/2011/07/wh...hybrid-car.html  wut do u guys think? hmm.gif
*
Let's be honest guys. What is the real reason u buy insight? Safe environment? I think only 1% agreed and 99% don't agree and I'm in the 99%.

Ok I'm all out. The reason I bought insight is I like the design of the car, tax free( damn cheap for fully imported from Japan) and my monthly petrol pump saving compare to my other cars. Cheap road tax.

Talking about depreciate after 5 years because of battery. I see no different in buying Kia, Hyundai, or BMW, Peugeot and etc. these car brand depreciate badly in our country. So I take it as the same.

Different ppl have different point of view. So to me, as long it save my monthly expenses and I change car every 5 years. It is just a car.

Why stop others from buying the car they like?

Need some advise here,i'm planning to change insight rim. Any recommendation on the size of the rim & tyre. Does changing to 17" will drop FC so much?

After more than 1 year, now my car got sound "crek crek" on driver door, so obvious. anyone facing this.
*
Getting a bigger rim deffinately will affect your fuel consumption. It's heavier and wider tire. Infact everything increase such as 17" tires are expensive.

Changing bigger wheels is a good idea to lower your car as well. Without lowering it, my opinion the car looks awkward. Bigger wheel but car look high. Like your feet size is 8 and your wearing size 10 shoe.

Another thing you have to consider, better to get back OEM rims or you have the budget go for ORIGINAL JAPANESE RIM. Dont get Taiwan rim or such.

Hi guys,
Recently my IMA battery dries up very fast (bars drop from 3 to 1).as far as i can remember i dont hit floor pedals hard and over excellerate my engine.
Should I do force recharge?
*
Check ur 12 volt battery. Ima recharge the 12 volt battery since insight is not using alternator. If 12 volt battery is weak, ima have to keep recharging and it deteriorate ima battery which makes it drop to 1 bar rapidly.

Go to a local taya shop or mechamic check. Don't check at SC, their answer is always, checked tested ok.

Hi all, I'm considering the Honda Insight.
Would like to ask Insight owners; how's the performance when going to Genting?
And how is the performance when u have 4 person in the car?
I mean will the car become underpower?
*
no problem going anywhere including genting. dun worry. 1.3 ima power wise is no difference then 1.5 city or any 1.6 car.

even a 1.3 avanza can go up genting with ease. dun worry. dun let the hybrid or 1.3 cc scare u

1.3, 1.5, 1.6 going up genting no problem with full load. under power ofcoz lah. but u wont get stuck in the middle of the slope.
