night shots, try under-expose by 2/3 to 1 stop.
that should bring out some detail in the lanterns.

QUOTE(gerald7 @ Mar 25 2012, 06:01 PM) LOL no. my flash photography know how is very rusty. you are trying to capture the firework and lantern together? » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « the lantern is too overexposed, and the middle part already become white color try spot metering on lantern, point at somewhere between the edge and the center then underexpose by 1 stop, that should be good my first time trying on light painting, kinda failed because not dark enough ![]() |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 25 2012, 09:03 PM) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=101...&type=1&theater cheh. . . it's a description of a photo There you go... -.- just type CM Leung on FB first one is him already aiyo. and I'm not familiar with Timeline and i could only find his another FB site Added on March 25, 2012, 9:13 pmaiya. . . jpeg and RAW are very different too in terms of noise from the RAW sample that I've seen thus far, it's usable up to iso 3200 but all the samples are untouched, with the details the D800 is able to retain, it should be quite easy to reduce the noise and add some sharpening to it on the higher iso shots.
