If you want to do it unoffiocially : Unlock bootloader, root and have CWM installed. This guide at XDA is very simple and explains very well the steps

Than lookup for roms for 4.02.2 or 4.0.3 at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1339

Download the rom zip file - copy it to your phone internal sd . Switch off phone , boot to recovery mode ( press vol button and power button simultaneously) and move vol button till you see recovery - press power to select it
From recovery menu. select lear cache partion and at advanced slect clear dalvik cache. Then only select zip file to flash the rom

No once you are on cooked rom, you will not get the official update unless you flash back stock rom

i think he means manually. since the update is already official.

ok so i havent done anything to the phone since the day i got it...i think the rom is just the one i have by default...and checked via android system info, its yakju 4.0.1

i went to xda forum but as provided by benny but the stuff discusesed there seems to be veteran/experienced talk...
i have no idea how to follow :S
