QUOTE(Molotov Cocktail @ Jan 29 2012, 10:13 PM) what are the differences that custom kernel can make to our device? need to change setting or anything after flashing new kernel? how to know current kernel better than previous kernel? Some kernels enable you to overclock/underclock and undervolt your CPU so you get better performance and battery life. Also, some allow you to change the colour tone of your screen if you think it is too yellowish. Good kernel = Good stability + Smooth + Better battery life (about 50% better compared to stock, this is the main reason changing a kernel) Bad = Sleep of Death, Lag, constant restarting.

Try testing on another PC When you go to Control Panel under System - did you see any exclamation marks on the list of devices. If so. just choose those and enable reinstall drivers again - either search in PC or browse internet

QUOTE(Molotov Cocktail @ Jan 29 2012, 10:31 PM) im using franco kernel, where is the setting of changes that you mention, need to use 3rd party app? use SetCPU for changing cpu frequency. Some ROMS like AOKP/bigxie have built-in setCPU so you can just change in from there. For the Colour tuning, you need to access the system files and change values in it or just purchase franco's app for easy GUI.

Serious question: If you're gonna root your phone and thus void the warranty, does that mean it doesn't matter if you get an AP set or an SME set? Since warranty also void already.
Or are there SEP/AP sellers that don't bother if you root?
