gone to proton once on 2009, they said need to leave car.. i malas so i skip change (me 2nd owner)..

2012, bearing change twice in 3 month, magician say spindle problem.. go proton to change, they said claim already no more.. dammit.. it cost my lil bro in law nearly 500 if not mistaken.. he the one drive the car at that time.. me drive wifey car..

now waiting for the fuel pump to kaput.. ask my bro to change (rm400+), he insist..

waiting for him to drive and cant start later.. that's when he will    & realize, prevention is better then cure..

oh ya, what speed are you at during the wheel fly off?
the symptom is noisy bearing + awful burning metal/tire smell outside your car..

my lil bro got the fly off accident during a magician testing his car to find the culprit of noise and smell..

hope all other pre 2006 savvist go change the spindle now for better peace of mind..

*a week before the accident,  my bro in law did 160kmh on that car chasing gtr35.. haha.. glad it did not happen during the crazy act.. 

I've been frequently changing bearings, almost once a month taking turns on both sides. Within 10 months ownership, I managed to spoil 6 bearings in total.

It was 120kph during the incident. No sign of bearing wear, suddenly heard metal grinding noise, probably less than 2 seconds before I managed to brake, and it car goes side ways and gymkhana started on Seremban Highway

Your car different than mine, ayam regular maintenance + petrol head. So, I really wasn't expect it to happen when I'm having hispeed cruising

According to Plotong, 2006 and before. From what I saw, 2007 also affect. Some 2008 but not all. U sendiri see which type of spindle u have lar

Apulgarage charge RM900++(below 1k) include labor to mod to Eterna. However, if got choice, it's highly recommended not to change to disc brake other than decoration. In order to mod disc brakes, one has to weld and drill mounting on the axle. You wouldn't know when it breaks in my opinion. As dangerous as having a tapered roller bearings.

my Savvy's rear bearing pecah last Sunday while I'm on my way back to KL from Kedah, right before the Bertam exit. called up Proton and PLUS but no answer, i'm not sure the fact that it was already close to 7 pm has anything to do with it but i do feel like keseorangan tanpa bantuan over there. luckily (or unluckily?) for me, there's a foremen who just happened to be on his way back from his workshop in Sungai Petani passed by. he helped me check on the damage and confirm that the bearing sudah pecah and the car need to be towed back to his workshop. fine la, what to do so follow only as it is already getting late. so cut story short both rear'r bearing were changed, and also the hub knuckle (dunno la i spell it correct or not) and overall charge was rm800++

on my way back to KL last night, it happened again near Bukit Beruntung exit. the very same sign and situation. so i just drove very slowly until i reach my house and sent it to workshop again this morning. apparently the left rear bearing (which was already replaced) rosak again. and i'm still waiting on the overall damages before making a call to the workshop in Sungai Petani

haihhzz...i love my Savvy. everybody was against me buying her when i did in 2008 but i bought her anyway; first love and all that la. but month after month (and hole after hole in my pocket) it sure feels like she's pushing me away in our relationship

just wanna share my experience with my savvy manual hi-line.
was driving along jln duta heading towards the toll , and the left rear wheel/ tyre COMPLETELY detached!!!!!!!!!!
luckily did not hit anything and no one hit me! imagine its a bit like what u see when an f1 car loses a wheel!
skidding on the ground on 3 wheels..............
anyway managed to stop eventually by the roadside.
so shocked that i forgot to try and find the wayward wheel/tyre.
got a tow truck to tow to workshop; ended replacing all 4 rims with 2 nd hand ones, a new tyre! and also the rear hub / spindle etc. sighhhhhhhhhhh
i will post a pic soon as i can.
BTW, my car was sent to the Mutiara damansara sc for a check up when proton issued the recall.
Just wondering what i can do....... write to the Star ? complain consumer affairs tribunal?

Must change full set, doesn't sell only the cover Did mine for slightly less than 500 full set

actually u should change full set clutch, if changed clutch plate only, u have pay more next change in short period.

some 4man change clutch plate only, 4man didn't change clutch cover and 4man bill u pay full set clutch.
u should check or stand there, see 4man change full set clutch or makan your clutch cover.

clutch cover wear off, is very hard change gear

Suddenly loss power, RPM raise like if the transmission is in neutral. I was suspecting my clutch pad worn off, but it's was changed less than a year. And after spent 3 hours to detached the whole subframe + steering rack, only able to remove the transmission. Seeing the clutch cover spring already snapped. Now this is what Renautech always told me the cover will be gone way before the pad wear off I had to leave the car at the shop since they're closing. Tomorrow will know the damage gonna costs



w33wawa, this is the fork that I mentioned before, which will make squeeking sound to the clutch pedal. The major culprit is



It uses a round shape mounting as an apex point WITHOUT any bearing. The more you press the clutch, this fork will grind on the round mounting and you'll hear the squeeking sound more obvious design problem!
