That is excellent news because I know that for 4.3.3, you will get into an Apple Boot Loop. This would be immensely useful once Apple stops signing 5.0.1 because instead of restoring, you can format and re-jailbreak without having to go through the verification process.

Maybe I will try it tonight and see if it will work for the iPhone 4s (need to do it before Apple stops signing the 5.0.1 in case it bricks the 4s)

One more question, hope you guys would be able to help. I previously had a bad experience on jailbreaking my previous 3gs which is a locked US set. Right now I am selling the phone off so I wanted to restore the phone to wipe off all the infos, possibly upgrade it..

It currently runs on ios 4.3.3 baseband 06.15.00
Is it possible for me to upgrade it to 5.0 or 5.0.1, jailbreak it and still manage to unlock it?

No. Follow the guide and it will tell you to download the firmware file manually (you can either use the link from the guide or use the link I posted in the first post).

This firmware file will be customised to ensure the baseband is preserved.

No unlocking for the 4S yet right?

Somebody reported that there is a hardware unlock that works, check his thread. Lemme see if I can find the thread. WimpyKid should know as well.

my friend 3gs is on 5.0.1. i tried to downgrade to 4.3.3 (SHSH saved) but got error 1015. tried to 'exit recovery' using tinyumbrella and nothing happen. still stuck in the recovery mode. HELP!

tried to restore back to 5.0.1, still can't.

SHSH for 4.3.3 is saved on Tiny Umbrella , but did you add the saurik's host line ? And perhaps you didn't press the start TSS Server button. Exit recover function is made for iPhone 4. Not sure whether you could kick out of recovery mode using tiny umbrella. I would suggest you to remove every host line , and restore your iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1 first . Why downgrade anyway ?

If exit recovery does not work (1015 error is usually associated with different baseband than what iTunes is expecting which is normal), do the restore again on 4.3.3

nope. i forgot to save shsh on tinyumbrella. i just assume shsh showed on cydia is sufficient to the downgrade. the host file all have been set.

what can i do to restore to 5.0.1 or 4.3.3 or even any functional ios?


EDIT: the 3GS now on 5.0.1 but cant be activated. i was told this is Maxis set. now, i have save SHSH on tinyumbrella. need advice. thx

That is weird. Do a full restore to 5.0.1 again. Make sure your host file is clean (remove or put a hash # in front of any lines with gs.apple.com) and do a shift restore. If the 3Gs is a proper Maxis factory unlocked set, it should activate just fine.

If cydia says that it has the SHSH saved, then you can either set the host file to Cydia or get TU to get the SHSH from cydia and it will save it locally. This is where the TSS server is used.

i have this weird problem. already jb my 3gs using redsnow. when i put the sim card, it shows no service. then i install ultrasn0w 1.2.5, it shows searching....and then no service again, but sometime only searching.the iphone recognize whenever i put the sim in or out. then install ultrasn0w fix . wont solve the problem either because cannot install due to predepencies error. already google to solve this problem, install the fix manually, but no luck. plz help me.
