anyone tried the jailbreak and done it successfully?

I'm having some issues with it.. everytime being kick out after entering DFU mode.. and later the iTunes started requesting a iphone in recovery mode needed for a restore... nothing can be done except going thru another round of restoration...

if u add this reply few minutes later maybe i tried the jailbreak d
but now maybe need to hold it 1st lol
i lazy wanna reinstall all my apps

I'm in the empty quarter at the moment. Will update the first post when I get back. Those who wants an untethered jb should stay on 5.0.1

Why did you upgrade to 5.1 in the first place? There was already an unlock for the 4s on 5.0.1 (hardware unlock).

No. Not possible. Not sure if the hardware unlock will work with the latest 5.1 baseband.

If apple is still signing 5.0.1, you shoul be able to upgrade to that version. If apple has stopped signing 5.0.1, there is no way you can upgrade to that version.

if you have 5.0.1 SHSH saved, then u are able to downgrade to 5.0.1

Even apple was not sign ios 5.0.1 already....
Last time i fail to downgrade my iphone from 5.0.1 to 5.0...

sorry but from what I've read, I think even if you have 5.0.1 SHSH saved, you can't downgrade to that
the only downgrade available is if you're using iphone 4 and you have saved your 4.x.x SHSH, then can downgrade to that
i don't think there's a way to downgrade from 5.1 to 5.0.1 even with SHSH saved
i'm not sure whats the problem here, but i just remember that 5.1 can't be downgraded to 5.0.1

i haven't checked redmondpie today so i just glanced through the link you linked to me
and first thing that caught my eye is this:

"Important Note: Before you begin, keep in mind that the iPhone 4S cannot be downgraded to an earlier version of iOS, unless Apple is signing that particular firmware version to which you’re downgrading to. Only the iPhone 4, 3GS, iPad 1 and the iPod touch users can downgrade back to both iOS 5.0.1 (custom firmware only) and iOS 4.x as long as they have SHSH blobs and APTicket saved for the firmware they are downgrading to. iPad 2 users can only downgrade back to iOS 4.x as long as they have saved SHSH blobs for it. You cannot save SHSH blobs once Apple has stopped signing the firmware you want to downgrade to."

so once apple stops signing firmware for 5.0.1 you can't downgrade if you're using iphone 4s. problem is, i don't know if apple has stopped signing, that one i guess you need to search on google?
