i got an iphone 4 os 4.2.1 baseband 03.10.01

unlock using turbo sim.

my question is? can i still unlock my phone if i update to OS 5 (will use sn0wbreeze to preserve baseband)

QUOTE
How do I unlock my locked sets?

1. Software Unlock - supports some baseband (modem firmware) via ultrasn0w. Support 4.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04, or 06.15.00 on the iPhone 3GS, or baseband 01.59.00 on the iPhone 4,

2. Hardware Unlock - via Gevey Sim (Supports the iPhone 4 on baseband higher than 01.59.00) BUT not the iOS 5 firmware and baseband

The long wait is over. You can now unlock your iPhone 4. GEVEY Ultra SIM will work for iOS version 4.1, 4.2, 4.2.1, 4.3, 4.3.1, 4.3.2, 4.3.3, 4.3.4 with baseband 1.59, 2.10, 3.10.1, 4.10.1 and (iOS 5, 5.0.1 with PRESERVE BaseBand 4.10.1)

from both quotes, it seems that 03.10.01 cant use gevey to unlock. i just want to confirm this. thx smile.gif

Sounds to me that you can only upgrade to 5.0.1 if you were on a firmware with 4.10.1 baseband as you need to preserve the 4.10.1 baseband.

SHSH for 4.3.3 is saved on Tiny Umbrella , but did you add the saurik's host line ? And perhaps you didn't press the start TSS Server button. Exit recover function is made for iPhone 4. Not sure whether you could kick out of recovery mode using tiny umbrella. I would suggest you to remove every host line , and restore your iPhone 3GS to iOS 5.0.1 first . Why downgrade anyway ?

nope. i forgot to save shsh on tinyumbrella. doh.gif i just assume shsh showed on cydia is sufficient to the downgrade. the host file all have been set.

what can i do to restore to 5.0.1 or 4.3.3 or even any functional ios? icon_question.gif

EDIT: the 3GS now on 5.0.1 but cant be activated. i was told this is Maxis set. now, i have save SHSH on tinyumbrella. need advice. thx smile.gif

That is weird. Do a full restore to 5.0.1 again. Make sure your host file is clean (remove or put a hash # in front of any lines with gs.apple.com) and do a shift restore. If the 3Gs is a proper Maxis factory unlocked set, it should activate just fine.

If cydia says that it has the SHSH saved, then you can either set the host file to Cydia or get TU to get the SHSH from cydia and it will save it locally. This is where the TSS server is used.

i need clarification for 'activation' process. does it required it to connect to wifi? because the phone 'might' have problem with the wifi. which the main reason i was asked to downgrade it to ios 4. i dont know either the 'wifi' problem is hardware problem, because the phone is 2nd hand.
