Hi All,

I just installed the 8MB Time Fibre Home package, have a couple of questions hope someone can advice me:

1) I turned on the 50MB boost and tried to do a speed test (to local server), but what I got for download around 4~5Mbps and upload around 30~40Mbps. So, is this 50Mb boost only for Upload speed? What is the idea reading I should get for Download and Upload speed test?

2) I changed the stock router to my own router (ASUS N56U), besides edit the PPOE ID and password, is there any other things I should change too?

Thanks in advance :-)

Edit: Another question, just now tried to activate the boost again but the option is no longer available after I login to SelfCare account.....any idea why?

wireless or wire lan at testing?

1)what server you chose?

try test TM cyberjaya, Maxis for speedtest.net

or http://speed.time.com.my/

and post again see.

2)manual put time or google dns server, btw automatic setting shout be no problem.

selfcare shout be can login again, but boost once activated need to wait until finish.

Thanks for reply.

I can't access the internet now after i restarted d router.....if i changed the selfcare password, do i need to change it in my ppoe setting too? Btw, i did try both old and new password in the ppoe setting too but still not able to access sad.gif not sure whether is Time problem or not....will try to call them later to check...

Added on November 3, 2012, 7:37 amHi All,

This morning can connect again and tested with speedtest.net, everything back to normal. Getting +/- 50MB for local server already.

However, for most of the overseas server, speedtest result is only less than 5MB....which I guess is normal, right?

yes. may need time to wait server activate, then put new pppoe password and reboot your router.

international speed cannot guaranty only nearness country can get faster speed.

Been using TIME fiber for more than 3 weeks (8mbps package). So far I'm satisfied with TIME fiber. No complains, I get to view youtube in 1080p goodness without lag. Thumbs up !.

Thanks to jjj2 for recommending the installer and it was effortless installation. Cheers !

Hi All,

I am an existing YES user and wish to install Time.

Reason is because i got a parttime job from US (follow US time) and requires alot of internet bandwidth. At peak, i can use up 500MB of Yes Quata in a single day (due to VPN and video conference call).

Would like to ask whether following is possible with Time Fibre Broadband:
1) Hows the latency and speed from here to New York and from here to France?
2) Does Time provide an iphone / Android App (like Yes Life) so i can make call from the smart phone? I like this option because i have a decent headset. If not, any other options?

Be friendly to the installer & they won't calculate one. An 100plus earn me a huge gulung of free fiber easily 15 meters biggrin.gif

Hehhehehe... first 15 meters are free.. then later RM15/meter (for TIME GPON only), if for Astro packages, they will charge in a block of 3 meters (3m = RM45).

Hi Bro...then u shld go for TIME Unlimited Home Broadband.

Usually for condos, TIME will provide 1 or 2 free lines to the management & community area. I suggest you do a test over there & have a feel of confidence smile.gif

No TIME does not have Apps. Anyway a local phone no will be provided (with a FREE Dect Phone), so you can make calls. Standard charges would be RM0.15/min (full min) with 6 secs block.

Hi... TIME Fibre Home Broadband has nothing to do with TM, means it does not utilizing your existing phone line at all. We will pull a fibre optic cable into your house (100% fibre) & plug into the provided fibre modem (ONU).

You can maintain your existing streamyx.

TIME has a 1 & 2 years contract.

For 1 Year contract, there's a one time RM249 Installation Fee whereas 2 years it's zero entry cost.

Hi....theoreotically with fixed IP & fast bandwidth it is possible, but not so recommended. As Web Hosting is a different type of service, I'd suggest you to go for a proper Web Hosting company, such as Exabytes.
