I just got my Time 100mbps installed. Mixed feeling on it. First the installer did a great job by routing the cables into my house without any need for drilling. Thumbs Up!!
However, the speed is not up to what is promised in a way. Measuring the speed directly from ONU (Huawei modem) managed to clock 99 mbps. Upon connecting it to E1200 (cisco router), the speed dropped half. Both are measured using LAN connection and using Time Speed test.
Made a call to service center, they claim speed is expected to drop half due to the router is transmitting wifi .. I was like WTF??? told her that i turned off every devices connected to Wifi and made sure only the LAN is connected and yet she claim it wont change... i can't get any logic on this...has anyone here experience this before??

Hi Bro,

I guess you are saying you connect to the Router using cable connection & not Wifi.

Please excuse the Customer Service, sometimes they are not really tech-wise.

This is a known issue.
The Linksys E1200 Router will not give you promising performance due to its firmware, we have tested & proven it's having disappointing performance when it runs at 100Mbps, the most you are getting 4x--6xMbps. You can try to upgrade to the latest 2.0.06 firmware.
We have some customers reported it solved the problem.

Please PM me your feedback.

Thanks & Merry Xmas smile.gif

Hi,

I have a TPlink 1043ND wifi router which I would like to make use of to replace the Cisco E1200 router provided by time.

The rest of the information in the cisco router can be copied however the setting on username and password appears to be tricky.

Is there standard password used or where can I get this?

Hi Bro,

Glad that yr connection is back online smile.gif
What do you mean by a 'blown box' ?

Vry unfortunately Cisco Linksys products nowadays are not as promising as previously.  We had spotted this disconnection issue & alrdy feedback to Time.
The previous firmware though has some high bandwidth bottle neck issue but it seems much better as it does not have this disconnection issue.

Of course you can replace it with yr own router (jus that Astro/ Time will not provide technical support on that)...but need not worry...buzz me. ..our team wil assist you in any equipment related to Time products.
Asus RT-AC68u wil work as well as its predecessor AC66u... jus tat the price is steep. ..lol

Astro Free Boost for 24Mbps is only up to 30Mbps.
Just log in to your Selfcare panel at http://selfcare.time.net.my
Click on Boost Manager,  select how many hours you want to boost & click the Boost button.
Time package (Internet only without Astro), you're able to boost up to 50Mbps for 30 hours/month.

Hi, would like also to seek for advice/recommendation on new router. Currently am subscribing 8mbps and using the E1000 router. However the performance does not seem to be stable, and when boost up to 50 MB/s it does not show much difference in download speed.

Yup seems like after upgrading to the new FW, the speed is not clocking 80+ Mbps using LAN.
For those who wish to do the same, just take note on the setup information on existing modem as these info will be wiped off after FW upgrade and reset.

Speaking of which, current supplied router E1200 coverage is very bad. I live in a condo where the router is placed at living room. I can hardly get any WiFi signal from my master room where the distance is approx. 80ft straight line but with some walls in between. Speed wise reduced from 50mb (WifI) to mediocre 5mb accessing it from my room. Hence would like to as bros around, what is the best value for money and good router for replacement? I am leaning towards NetGear WNDR3x series but not sure if that is a good choice. Budget ~500 bucks....also looking possibility at using Aztech Wireless Access Point/Repeater as cheaper solution but compromising on a power point plugs. Any advice ?

Hi Bro,

Linksys E1200 is really a basic Router meant for small medium house where less L-corners.
Its built in 2 antenna of total ≤ 4dBi gain is certainly not something to be cheer of....

Pls do check out your PM for more Routers recommendations.

Thanks.
