How is Time Home Fibre compared to Unifi in terms of actual download speeds? Is Time more stable? Why is Time advertising their fibre as being the only 100% real fibre in the market?

Can someone clarify?

Hi Bro,

All FTTx providers are providing their service on best effort basis. But I believe what you wanna know is the experiences sharing that either Time or Unifi is better in terms of stability & speed.

I highlighted more details about this in PM.

We can't comment on which is more stable. It depends on how the service is being delivered.
Eg. High Rise buildings (generally) : Time is using 100% Fibre, meaning from the point it enters into your building to the point where it plugs into your ONU.
Unifi is based on VDSL, which means Fibre is until MDF, goes up to your unit is copper-based.

In this case, Time wins.

But there are lots of properties where Unifi is also using 100% fibre, eg. landed houses or newer buildings.
All fibres used by TM or Time for FTTx is the same, though brand may be different.
Then this case it will come to other determining factors such as equipments like FTB, FWS, FIC etc.
Network design is then vital.

Time advertises 100% Fibre means all the way from its OLT --> FDP/FTB --> SPLT --> ONU , all FIBRE, NO COPPER.

Lastly, TIME's service wins a long way over T_ . rclxm9.gif

Alright. Sounds good. My concern really is im planning to replace Astro with something else which requires good internet streaming. I haven't found that product yet as I quite a noob when it comes to IT.

Just curious, I would thought the upload speed should be almost the same as the download speed?

So the max upload speed for a 100 Mb/s package is 50 Mb/s? smile.gif

Not to worry Bro...our fibre is real thin & we can advise you the most suitable route that make it least visible.

Check out your PM ya...

Thanks.

Hi Bro,

Theoretically this should be more or less the same as GPON DWDM is utilizing different wavelength (λ) to carry both upstream & downstream.
Time Gpon for FTTH is based on ITU G.984 which specifies 2.488Gbps downstream & 1.244Gbps upstream.

So your download & upload speed differences that you test varies at any given of time as your package speed goes higher. (You may not notice much difference at lower packages).

PM me if you need more details.

Thanks.

Thanks for the explanation, jjj2. I'm currently on Astro+TIME IPTV, so I don't think I'll have a chance at trying out TIME's 100 Mbps package. Good to know that it exists though! biggrin.gif

Ops...Astro-Time IPTV cant try d.... max you can boost up til 30Mbps only.
Anyway there are still lots of improvement to be done on this 100Mbps package before it gets higher to 150/200Mbps in the future !

Thanks.

Is it available in Kedah-Alor setar ?
where can i get more information ?
can someone show me the picture of router and the installation ?
Will it make my game latency lower then tm/unifi does, i usually playing game that host in euro/usa my normal ping is 270-300, i'd hope to get 100+ ping but none package available like that in Malaysia, wondering if it does.

Currently using Streamyx 8mbps, have a plan to jump on unifi vip10, if Time fibre work better, than im truly going to install it right now !

Thx in advance .

If you are using SEA server (SG), the ping is relatively low around 30-50ms...For US, depending on state, it's somewhere around 1xx--2xxms

Thanks.

On a 10 Mbps line and tried a Speedtest to New Jersey server in the US. Not bad ping considering the huge distance.
