After a power down I no longer have the 175 and now 210. Is this a good range or should I try to redial to get 175 back?

It seems fast but I'm not sure. Do these IPs affect ping as well (different way?) ?

Anyone experienced can share please

Your setup looks good. Just make sure to disable the DHCP servers on the WRT54G and 841ND. Do a LAN switch -> LAN port connection if you have not setup the WAN port on those routers in passthrough mode.

@izzat80
It's a separate chip and interface but most routers utilize a software bridge to connect the wifi interface to the LAN switch chip interface.

I heard unifi suffer from frequent service disruptions, is it due to area or congestion?
or is it limited to high-rise buildings only? coz the 2 cases I heard are in condos

I am staying in condo & therefore using VDSL & used to have this random & intermittent packet loss issue that caused problems with the uplink speed, usually the speed became almost zero. Multiple complaints & visits by technicians failed to resolve the issue. This problem lasted for 7 months!

Thanks to rizvan, after I highlighted it here in LYN, he managed to bring the matter up to TM & finally, they fixed it - apparently its an issue with the fiber transmitter at the MSAN and that it is a new issue that TM wasn't aware of earlier. Since it is fixed, have been getting stable & fast connection for 1.5 months now.

Count yourself lucky smile.gif

I believe if the UniFi technicians are more well-trained, they would have done their job better. Unfortunately, they aren't. I was told by a technician himself that they were only given very basic training just good enough to solve simple issues. TM should train them more thoroughly so that they are well-equipped with knowledge & skills to solve more complicated problems or at least to detect them and report it to the higher ups!

Problem is, they failed to identify the problem and then went on to report they completed their job & closed by report!

You can always get from one of the forum sellers. I got two RB750GL from mfa333. Other option is Landasan but they forever no stock one, cheaper though.

210 is better. Better pings compared to 175.

Why is your setup needlessly complex? I don't know about you but I could do everything on a TP-Link WR1043ND. Two SSIDs on one device, easily. Well, you do need to use a custom firmware though (OpenWRT's my pick).
*
My devices mixed between G & N

the reasons to separate between b/g & n as follows:-

QUOTE
Using a 802.11g client with an 11n router will get you a maximum link rate of 54 Mbps and around 22 Mbps of actual, usable throughput. Only an 802.11n client has what it takes to get higher throughput from a draft 11n router.

QUOTE
An 802.11n router can also work with 802.11g and even 11b devices. But these much slower devices force the router to slow down to talk to them, which means a big throughput hit. Fortunately, the "legacy" mechanisms are pretty efficient and reduce throughput only when the slower devices are actively transmitting or receiving.

As we showed in Add, Don't Replace When Upgrading to 802.11n, mixing 11n and "legacy" clients can reduce throughput by 50 to 80%. So if you are mixing old and new devices, you could be shooting yourself in the (throughput) foot. Either upgrade to all 11n clients, or use a separate 802.11g router to handle your "legacy" stuff.

I'm planning to un-subscride Axtro. Now hardly watch, only my daughter watching Nick/CN/Disney. The rest are repeating and paying >RM100 / month.

Now with our IPTV, what you guys think?

I on the TVBox yesterday, and it slows down other activities like surfing, etc, some sites i surfed even got error. Off it and solve prob.

If upgrade to vip10, will it help? Can I limit the TVbox's cap / rate? if yes, how?
is VIP5 or VIP10 free channel the same?
The channels are quite limited.. what you guys think?

Thanks.

I'm also on VIP5 and watching HyppTV does not slow down nor affect my internet in any way. I think better call TM and let them know.

As for the channels, yeah, very limited. Even for kids only got Nick Jr & CBBs.

Bro,
details on the channel ---> http://www.tm.com.my/unifi/hypptv/Pages/about-hypptv.aspx

1. There is no slowdown in internet connection when you simultaneous watch TV & browsing/downloading.

Why? Different path assigned to internet & IPTV ( geek term = diff. VLAN ID)

2. VIP5 & VIP10 same channels, different only in DOWNLOAD CAPPING (as of now, not yet enforced)

3. Your daughter will be missing Nick/CN/Disney channel, however HYPP TV is not that bad since junior channel also got = Nick Junior (Dora The explorer, Go Diego Go, Little Bill, Blue Clues ) - ok la.

For HD channel - Free - Luxe HD, Travel HD the rest of HD (Universal, SyFy, NatGeo Adventure) RM9/month/channel

4. Do not worry about ASTRO movies channel & you won't missing them, once u got UNIFI, you can download sampai muntah all night long 24x7x365 days.

5. HyppTV greatest WEAKNESS is limited sport channels = NO FOOTBALL/Golf content (with exception to HyppTV's MUTV).

6. Try VIP5 first, later can upgrade to higher bandwidth.

7. Some Geeks hate TM router. But normal human should be OK.

Thought I do a test just to be sure. Here you can see my internet going at 5mbps with the iptv on at the same time. (I think it's nTV7) Later try with Luxe HD and see how it much bandwidth it needs.
