QUOTE(scpt @ Feb 15 2012, 05:50 PM) I heard unifi suffer from frequent service disruptions, is it due to area or congestion? or is it limited to high-rise buildings only? coz the 2 cases I heard are in condos I am staying in condo & therefore using VDSL & used to have this random & intermittent packet loss issue that caused problems with the uplink speed, usually the speed became almost zero. Multiple complaints & visits by technicians failed to resolve the issue. This problem lasted for 7 months! Thanks to rizvan, after I highlighted it here in LYN, he managed to bring the matter up to TM & finally, they fixed it - apparently its an issue with the fiber transmitter at the MSAN and that it is a new issue that TM wasn't aware of earlier. Since it is fixed, have been getting stable & fast connection for 1.5 months now.

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Feb 15 2012, 10:58 PM) Stable for 1 year. Minor downtime. Total downtime should be around 3 days(got one time 2 days can't online. Earlier time. Then after that i think only got 2 times got cut for 4~5 hours like that). Oh... Doesn't include the time no one is in this house. Studying mah. Got holiday one Count yourself lucky I believe if the UniFi technicians are more well-trained, they would have done their job better. Unfortunately, they aren't. I was told by a technician himself that they were only given very basic training just good enough to solve simple issues. TM should train them more thoroughly so that they are well-equipped with knowledge & skills to solve more complicated problems or at least to detect them and report it to the higher ups! Problem is, they failed to identify the problem and then went on to report they completed their job & closed by report!

QUOTE(aaronlim @ Feb 16 2012, 10:51 AM) I on the TVBox yesterday, and it slows down other activities like surfing, etc, some sites i surfed even got error. Off it and solve prob. If upgrade to vip10, will it help? Can I limit the TVbox's cap / rate? if yes, how? There is a separate 8Mbps bandwidth channel (VLAN600) for your IPTV while your Internet access is at 5Mbps (VLAN500). So, watching IPTV should NOT cause your Internet speed becomes slower. But if you do face the problem with lagging Internet access while watching IPTV, very likely it is the router! It's well-known that the router provided by TM is not good enough to handle a large number of packets especially when watching IPTV, hence, the slowdown is probably caused by the router. Perhaps, change to your own router (find one that supports UniFi with IPTV such as TP-Link TL-WR841ND) can help!

QUOTE(redrum77 @ Mar 4 2012, 06:16 PM) Hi guys can I still keep my existing hse telephone number once I get unifi or must chg number? For landed property, yes you can as UniFi is provided to you via a separate cable (fiber optics). If you stay in high-rise condo/apartments, then NO, as UniFi is provided to you via the existing telephone cable.

QUOTE(AjkR06 @ Mar 10 2012, 07:41 AM) Then only those who are using Unifi can use it? Unifi user are just super minority in Malaysia... Not all place can be covered with Unifi (only those who are living in the territory of high economic impact)... So please don't be selfish ok for the sake of those who are out of unifi range ... Perhaps Asstro can give the chance to the other players out there (which I believed, only in my sweet dream).... With Asstro, the whole Malaysian can enjoyed those "premium" channels, regardless of their location even though they're living in the middle of jungle... Just my 2 cents.... I'm not the Astro staff what so ever... The issue here is the monopoly of Astro on all these channels. By right, monopoly should NOT be allowed. Any TV/radio broadcasting companies should be allowed to offer these channels to their subscribers. Which means Astro, TM, Maxis, etc. can offer the same channels to their subscribers, in the end customers have choice!!!

QUOTE(IwanAGP @ Mar 10 2012, 10:23 AM) Before that you should consider the monopoly of TM in Broadband services. Most of the ISP are using TM Backbone. TM easily monopoly broadband services... Agree with you on this too. HSBB should be open up as well.

QUOTE(darryl89 @ Mar 14 2012, 08:14 PM) Hello there, i have a question. I am still using my default Wireless router that TM gave me(black colour), i plan to change this to a better device. Could anyone suggest for me a good router? Is TP-LINK TL-WR941ND good? i am new to this, could anyone suggest a good router for me... thanks in advance darryl I suggest you go either for TL-WR841ND or TL-WR1043ND. Both these TP-Link models now have official firmware that supports UniFi. More info here: http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2265652

QUOTE(SnoWFisH @ Mar 16 2012, 02:08 PM) So the ZTE ones are better than huawei? Mmmm mine still no issue though...maybe i dint stressed it enough  Probably you got the newer batches of Huawei modems. The earlier batch suffer from overheating issue which results in damage to the equipment and frequent disconnections (losing sync - DSL light blinking). I ended up putting the Huawei modem on top of a notebook cooling fan. But no longer need to do so since I got mine replaced with a ZTE modem. In fact, I have let the ZTE run 24/7 for more than 2 weeks without any problem nor restarting too. This post has been edited by jolmy: Mar 16 2012, 05:05 PM

QUOTE(lightbringer @ Mar 17 2012, 01:08 AM) Asking for some advice here, whats the best router to use for Unifi? With the least amount of extra modification and configuration. The router they provided is getting worse . Can't even surf net properly unless I use wired connection. I have done some research and it seems that TP-Link routers are recommended. Which model is the best? Need to install custom firmware? Some posts in this topic noted that there is a Unifi sticker on the box, implying that you can straight away use their default firmware, yet Klseet site includes custom firmware for download. I am using TP-Link TL-WR841ND, price below RM100. In the WAN settings page, if you see there is a radio button on top "UniFi users" .. then you click that and configure the PPPoE settings. If you do not see that means you have to flash it with the lastest firmware that you can download from TP-Link Malaysia website.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Mar 17 2012, 01:45 PM) TPLink 841ND works well and is real cheap. If you buy in LYP, just bring to 4th Floor svc ctr and they can flash for you (same firmware as the one on klseet). The UniFi sticker doesn't mean it is already flashed. now TP-Link has official firmware that supports UniFi..

Any UniFi subscribers here have got a call from Noble Nexus (03-5575 1752), claiming they represent TM, then they confirm all your personal details like email, address, etc? When I asked what is it for, the caller said she doesn't know, it's from a file given by her boss.
WTH??? How all my UniFi subscription information is known by this company?

QUOTE(rattan @ Mar 21 2012, 07:48 PM) No it does not use your internet bandwidth. IPTV and your internet is on a total different VLAN. You can be watching IPTV n be surfing the net, you will still get full internet speed. Another thing to add, even if one day bandwidth quota is implemented, IPTV streaming (VLAN600) will NOT count to the bandwidth quota as the bandwidth quota is only for the High Speed Internet usage (VLAN500)

QUOTE(imaniman @ Mar 27 2012, 11:32 PM) just got my unifi installed. what ive noticed is that they have changed the operator's password to other than the standards one. i am basically unable to gain super admin from my own device!! these are the steps i have done to gain super admin: http://unifi.athena.my/router_password.php --FAIL Username : operator Password : telekom --FAIL Username : operator Password : h566UniFi --FAIL Username : operator Password : <your Unifi username in reverse order> --FAIL putty to modem --FAIL (no open port?) telnet to modem --FAIL (no open port?) Does anyone here have any other alternative to gain the operator access besides installing firmware? ps. i can login admin, but i would like the operator access too Try go to backup your router configuration file. Then use RouterPassView to open the backed up config file to see if you could reveal the operator password.

QUOTE(pheryphery @ Mar 28 2012, 09:20 AM) Hi guys, just wan to check. If everything is turn off (pc,laptop, ipad, iptv, etc), means there is no interaction within any device to router set, i saw the BTU unit still blinking fast at LAN 1 port (orange blink at the back) and also router. As far as I know, if there no usage, means no blinking at all right? Including all LED indicator on the router. Can anyone verify this? I just wonder if someone neighborhood can access and make use of free service using my network. i always leave my unifi set on 24/7 to make ease of use. Router type : TPLINK WR841ND Security set : WPA-PSK I have actually seen this happened before. I suspect someone may be pinging your WAN port. So you should go to your router to enable statistics then make sure you disable WAN Ping. Also disable WPS (called QSS in TP-Link) as there is a tool that can exploit vulnerabilities of WPS to recover your PSK. And finally, an additional note, use WPA2-PSK instead of WPA-PSK.

QUOTE(RiCHBoyZ @ Mar 28 2012, 12:01 PM) Please read act no. 7.... i can apply license from TM, there nothing illegal if you want to do commercila business! You people download illegal contents from internet and call yourselves nobel!...... Frankly, do you think TM will allow you to do this even you ask for permission? TM will rather get your neighbors to sign up UniFi with them instead! And please do NOT assume all of us here are illegal downloaders.

QUOTE(RiCHBoyZ @ Mar 28 2012, 12:15 PM) Never try never know. about illegal downloaders.... tepuk dada tanya diri sendiri. Good luck trying. And once again, do not generalize all of us here as illegal downloaders. In my case, I only use BitTorrent occasionally to download large files such as Linux Distros, and they are done legally.
