USD1.7k for body only....

USD500 + USD500 + USD600 for the 18mm/35mm/60mm.

Total USD3.3k = MYR10.4k!!!

I think I'll stick with my X100 for now until I can find a buyer for my kidney....

Smart marketing move by Fuji. Divide and conquer the market. rm2K- lower end x10.
rm4k- middle end x100 and rm7k- high end x-pro1. rclxms.gif

It's ok. Eye or kidney got spare unit... :-)

Rather than a X10 I would say sell an arm or a leg (also got spare) and buy the X100!!! Worth every $$$.

IQ of X100 > zoom of X10.

Small, light, interchangeable lens camera with a digital full frame sensor. What's not to obsess about if it ever gets made one day (if ever).

You get 24mm lenses that are actually wide angle. 50mm f1.4s with DOFs thin enough you can slice bread with it.

Sure we have all that with film but sometimes (sometimes lah) I still secretly miss chimping and instant results lol.

Yeah I sometimes forget (or refuse to remember due to the "argh muntah darah" prices) that the M9 is FF.

*Looks at the Laika catalog again and vomitsblood*

Though if (IF) it ever gets made, the "cheap Laika alternative" would in reality be still quite expensive lol, at least for misers like me.

Anyhows, Fuji sensors have always been great IMHO. Figures as they make film lol.

Initial impression
Body too light, doesn't feel as solid, ergonomics so so nia, I had a hard time holding it without strap, hoping a thumbs up will be available soon

Lens wise, still ok. Manual focusing is no where near to the experience on a rangefinder

One thing I like is the macro function, the 35mm can actually focus dem close!!!

The xpro1 is about the size of D7000 with 35mm lens and it cost more too.
People complain SLR big and heavy so why buy xpro1 I wonder. hmm.gif

the style and uniqueness..... D7000 just look like a typical DSLR.... and 80-90% dunno u carry a D7000/600D or wat ever model it is... they just know it is a big camera with lens pointing out.

Can compare here . Place the xpro behind the D7000 and see the
extra width. smile.gif

in the EVF, it shows the focusing distance
but frankly, manual focusing can play far far compare to rangefinder

hopefully i get my kipon adapter ASAP, just bought it
then can try the manual focusing with other lenses

Manage to try out the XP1 with the 35mm f1.4.

AF speed was pretty good. Same as X100 with firmware 1.20.

MF was awesome! Dunno what people are complaining about MF speed. It worked pretty well for me.

The XP1 also felt great in my hand! Nice weight and feel to it. Q button was also awesome!

No doubt the FBW would never be as responsive as a mechanical focus ring but my point was that it surprised me by being quite useable.

For use with other lenses, some form of focus peaking would be nice. The zoom in to focus is not the best solution.

wow this apsc camera is the only camera that I see can fight IQ of the canon 5d series...really chun! the d800 is nice but does not have the pop like 5d has but does have more res than the 5d

overall I like the iq of the xpro1 as its almost identical to the 5dii and maybe even the 5d3! please post more!!! now if only fuji will will supply more wonderful tele lens and prime and fix the focus speed and make it FF this camera will truly shake things up a bit with the canon nikon dominance...

I'll be honest, I agree to all the points mentioned in the video above. The aperture chatter, the price point etc but after using this for a week, I got to say the feel, the IQ and it's usability feels really really good.

Guess its not for everyone but if u want a camera that delivers great pictures (& is willing to invest time to overcome its weaknesses(the AF), you are not too far away with this beauty.

Just got the camera 2 days ago - had to sell 2 nikon lenses, EPL2 + kit lens & 25mm pana 1.4 and still top up RM1.5k to get it!

In short - Blown away by the IQ (compared to EPL2 & D90). Still need to get use to the AF!

Fuji just released firmware v1.01 to fix lens chatter issue.
Even though it's not mentioned in their release logs, I noticed improvement in AF.

Hi all. Need all of your kind opinion.

Dilemma.

Is it worth it if i let go my d300s + 3 fast lens + 2 flash gun for a Xpro1 + 35 + 18 ?

previously i was 60% hobbyist 40% doing part time photo. but now thinking to migrate 99% hobbyist. been using GF2 for a while i it fits my need especially during travel.

the two latest post are from GF2 http://oh-jimi.tumblr.com/ and the rest are from d300s or d200 or d50

been eyeing for X100 too but worry about the auto focus issue. plus the fixed lens, as the camera will be the only one camera for me, not as a second body.

*
same thing happen to me.. just sell all my dslr and accessories .. plan to buy Xpro1 for hobbyist too.. going for street shoot and landscape purpose.. still stuck between OMD vs Xpro1.. but i love Xpro1 IQ..

Added on May 13, 2012, 7:17 pmJust back from Bintang Maju camera shop.. Price for Body X-pro1 now = RM5000, lens 35mm @ 18mm = RM2000.. !!

i see, since you mention it suits ur need after using GF2, then i guess the next question will be slow AF does it really matters to you. I've tried and play with the X100 which has superb IQ, but could not accept the AF speed for certain type of photography esp those with fast paced moment, but hey we dont always take those picture rite smile.gif i loved the camera a lot due to its feature, handling and IQ. It depends also on what we wanted to do with the picture, i guess at lower res, compared to m43, by not printing it in big size, still it dont makes a huge difference?

Of cos the X-Pro1 will be much better and all these are my personal opinion only smile.gif

NISMOgan! i totally 100% agree with you! hehe very understanding my inner dilemma =) X100 slow AF is the biggest issue for me right now. BUT i never get my hand on the camera so not sure how 'slow' is slow ..

right now considering whether i can live with 18mm and 35mm ..no problem with the prime/fixed lens but prefer to have 14mm n 23mm instead. please fuji please.

All camera brand require proof of purchase date when warranty claim

Use the focus scale or hyper focal by remembering DOF charts for manual focus.

The one touch focus on the AF/AE button in manual mode is also helpful.

If they implement peaking will make it easier but as is already doable in old school style

This is a very good price! The only thing stopping me from buying is the high price of the body, the lens i think is pretty cheap compared to my Nikon N lens biggrin.gif

With 18-55mm or 35mm? I wonder if they include other freebies.

Checked with Boeing Empire and they would not confirm price or availability but 'suggested' price should be 4.5k also.

Well coming from D700 user i can say the focus speed is acceptable, but it is accurate.. It's good enough for this kind of camera, since u are not gonna need the focusing speed anyway.. I am getting one , still waiting for price from dealers

With the availability of X-E1, would anyone still go for the X-Pro 1, or am I alone in this area?

I still like the 3" screen display of the X-Pro 1.

All original fuji product, got them from USA. 18mm is used.
Don't buy battery from USA, after 30% tax its almost same price as Malaysian price already.

Xpro 1 body is only RM3998 at shashinki.com, as expected since there's a RM500 off the RRP 5688 during KLPF.

Shashinki is also selling the

X-E1 + 35mm f/1.4 = RM4788
X-E1 + 60mm f/2.4 = RM4888
x-E1 + 18mm f/2.0 = RM4788
X-E1 body = RM3388

Sold a kidney but finally got the x-e1 with 35mm1.4 combo from YL.

the EVF is amazing after coming from the x100. Used an a77 previously though, and it's nearly there...

Only slightly heavier than my old x100 too!

I do have a problem though... I'm immediately greeted with a "update lens firmware" warning once I startup.

hmm...

The X-E1's really good so far, focus speed still meh to me though. Slight improvement from the x100 though.

I've only tested it in low light to be fair. Getting good pictures at ISO 3200 or so, but I'm facing one huge problem...

Can't find any way to get a proper RAW processor for it!

RAW therapee crashes everytime I load the file.

xpro1 price i check around all gave me RM6-7k which i really dont feel like swallowing it down. Maybe the overall package not attractive enough if it were a twin lens package than i might consider with that type of pricing.

Then Sony came out with RX1 which is god like after looking at its picture with 25600 ISO..... pretty shocking result it has now will wait and see which better before buying.

Hi all, just one simple question, should I buy X-E1 now, or hold until the price bit 'stable' ?

Been eyeing for the X series since the X100, then X-Pro1, and now the seXy-onE.

All have sold my d300s and other gears sweat.gif

High ISO test by DecQuinas, on Flickr

ISO 4000. Was under pretty harsh lighting conditions (only light source was two yellow lamps).

Still pretty impressive IMO. Although my friends face is a little "burned"...

Anyhow, I think the weakness of the X-E1 (or the X series line up without the new lenses in general) is that the focus hunts alot in low light. Never shot during the day yet with the X-E1, but currently I've been facing focusing issues in low light conditions and that annoying aperture sound of the lens. EVF lags when trying to focus in low light too (framerate drop).

But still a great camera... Really like the lens too.

I was the first one to view their unit. X-E1 body is much lighter than expected but the 18-55 has a nice weight to it. Unfortunately I was looking for silver.

I got my XE-1 a few weeks back with the XF 35mm F1.4. I can say that i'm loving it. Previously I was using a D90 and the new XE-1 comes in a great size and a lot easier to take around.

Focus takes a bit to get used to. Sometimes it hunts around and sometimes it gets the focus outright wrong. But the image quality makes it worth it and the focusing is something that you learn to compensate for after a while.

I'll post some pics here. All straight JPEGs without any post-processing.

I think it depends on what kind of style you are shooting. For me the 35mm is good enough. I might just need a 14mm for wide angles and that should be it for me.

But i think if you are taking the 18-55, you wont need the 35mm until you really feel like you need it. The quality on the 'kit' lens is not your standard kit. Its very good from the samples shown all over the net.

I bought the body for 3.3k about 2 months back. I didn't get the kit lens ones. Plus the 35mm it was around 5.2k.

You can get a X-E1+35mm for much cheaper now I think.

If I'm not mistaken DY has additional 2% for CC and 5% for easy pay.

one weird problem. why isn't the lcd/evf showing What-you-see-is-what-you-get preview? in dark condition, the image previewed has no relation to the image to-be-captured. for example, i set shutter to 1/4000, half-press the shutter, the preview image is bright, captured image is pitch black.

The EVF gains up so you can see in the dark. However, if you check your status bar below, it should indicate that the aperture is insufficient by showing it in red so the end result is dark.

went to lowyat today and walk pass this quiet looking booth with X100 and X-E1 on display. looks neat, and got a quote of RM4240 for kit lens set or RM4399 for 35mm, only 1 silver and 1 black left, promotion until this sunday.

seems like a nice camera for not too much money! after my disappointment with OM-D recently i might look into this for my next year's oversea trips. looks like going to get even cheaper in the coming months. hmm.gif

Wah. Very good price. Cheapest I've heard off so far....

Just got my 35/1.4 last night. Nice. Bokehlicious but focusing motor noisier and more vibration than 18-55.

Will post some pics when I have some decent shots.

Yes normal. The 18-55 has an internal focusing motor and is very very quiet and smooth. The 35mm can be heard and felt during focusing.

estimate end of this year you get the xpro 1 upgrade version and early next year the xe1 upgrade just like how they launch their products. But man this equipment do cost a bomb.

estimate end of this year you get the xpro 1 upgrade version and early next year the xe1 upgrade just like how they launch their products. But man this equipment do cost a bomb.

Happy X10 user here.

I saw my dealer here in Brisbane had this camera with Pro 1 + Fujifilm 18MM F2.0 + 35MM F1.4 combo for only 2900 AUD which include 10%GST than can be claim when on the airport. Is this consider good deal?

Is this camera meant for more advanced user? I am thinking buying this to complement my x10 & I am coming home for holiday so would be able to claim tax too

X mount lens i think more or less similar in price, now XP1 in many country going for much less than they are and competing with XE1, so i'd say it's quite an expensive combo. might as well get XE1 + 35mm (RM4500+- i think) + RM2000+- for the 18mm and still end up RM7000 or less. 2900 AUD is around RM9000, -10% tax is still more than RM8000, i would buy Sony RX1 instead. biggrin.gif

Any functional difference between xp1 and xe1 apart from the different body design and the hybrid rangefinder type viewfinder?

What happens can't see any new update for X-e 1? The last firmware was 1.01 for body and 2.01 for lens.

XE1 over XP1 = built in flash that's able to tilt up, smaller size, mic input

Gonna try to look for it now.

Thanks so much weih. I heard it's one of the better alternatives to process fuji's RAW files but when I went to the site I was shocked...

Edit: Are you talking about Capture one 6 express? the one that costs 79 euros? Sounds more reasonable pricing for a college student like me. How much is it after conversion? I'm assuming you bought it as well

I am still using the 6 as I don't see the point in upgrading it yet (don't have the new cameras)

Ehh I'm super frustrated weih. The pictures are so amazing when it focuses right, but at parties and stuff, it's nearly impossible to shoot at f2.8 or larger without the AF going haywire.

Really need to MF (which is hard cause the EVF isn't the best in low light as well)

They need to fix this

i'm not even sure if 5350 is the cheapest out there, was mainly surveying for x100 and xe1

there's a Fuji facebook page for it but ppl manning those are a bit unresponsive.

i do like the 14mm. i'm guessing you're used to using ultra wides. the 14mm is a 21mm FF equivalent and can be quite difficult to work with. there is barely no barrel distortion but WA distortion is very apparent especially at eye level.

just some more pics i took a few days ago with the 14mm

Can I suggest a big Fuji thread like the Nikon thread here so ppl who likes Fuji system can all discuss and learn under one roof?

now we're like divided into xpro/xe thread, x100 thread and x10 thread.

a bigger community will give us better discussion.

maybe admin can help merge if agree? Fuji really need and deserves it own thread.

discuss.

Ya it's a good camera. Notice the focusing a bit slow at some time.

Btw just wanna check.. How you guys process the RAW files? Using LR, Photoshop or?

Does it come with a standalone editing software in the box?

Or... I should ask which software give the best raw output result for XE1?

Ya it's a good camera. Notice the focusing a bit slow at some time.

Focusing is ok. Can't compare with DSLR. In low light better use MF.

As for software, I shoot JPEG so can't help you there. If not mistaken only Capture One is optimised for Fuji.

Fuji really need and deserves it own thread.

discuss.

Totally agree, because I'm newbie/beginner. Need some advise and discuss with expert in here. notworthy.gif

i order X-E1 + 35mm F1.4 from yamiya before CNY, yamiya delay the shipment from 18 Feb to 19 Feb, then the item should ship to kuantan city link, but city link ship it to Kuching office, what a service sweat.gif

No bag with mine.

As for front element moving during playback, the front element will move back to storage position when you press the playback button. Yes normal.

XE1 or for that matter, any other contrast detect camera, not really meant for sports, etc. The way which contrast detect focusing works is unsuitable for that purpose. You need either a phase detect DSLR or wait for the new gen Fuji's with phase detection like the X100s. biggrin.gif

thanks for your feedaback... however, i was thinking of XE1 at first... which package should i get? i'm thinking of getting 35mm at first, and then get another 18mm later on... some ppl suggest me that get the kit lens as it didn't sell separately... but i'm more favour to prime lens actually...

as for x100s, hell it is just come at the wrong time tongue.gif due to the weaken currency of YEN and the arrival of x100s, probably XE1 price will drop even further when x100s is introduce in malaysia... i heard something that x100s will reach smmore around end of mar or mid apr... i really wan to try focus peaking/contrast focus of x100s biggrin.gif

at least x100s gives optical/electronic viewer, world fastest focus speed (WOW drool.gif ), focus peaking features... but on thing kill it all, it is a fixed lens which can't be change doh.gif

so at the end, im in dilemma... anyone got any idea when x100s will arrive?

It depends on your needs. I got my X-E1 w the 18-55 as I needed the IS and quiet internal focus motors for some video recording (instead of buying a dedicated video recorder).... But I was too tempted by the 35/1.4 so I bought that separately. The 18-55 works very well! Only problem is that the aperture isn't really wide enough for indoor available light photography which the 35/1.4 or my X100 does pretty well at. That said, the 35/1.4 is awesome! Decide what you need and choose.... Otherwise just get both!

As for X100s vs X-E1? Not really the same as X100s is fixed lens. Great camera but not as flexible. Again, down to your needs and preference. If you can wait, get a used X100 first then wait for the X-E1s/X-E2???? brows.gif

hmm hmm.. anyway, i think the X-E2 will features almost the same function, but will include the focus peaking/contrast focus only... probably higher resolution of back LCD...
bro seech, can u share what is the price u get for the 35/1.4 lens? i think cheap cheap also need 1.8k...
