budget around rm500-700

I was thinking of going cheap and buy an SE X8.

But people recommend me samsung too.

SE Xperia mini Pro looks good, with front camera, keypad but the screen abit small. and pricey too

What do you guys recommend? Im more to sms+call, with some gaming for fun.
*
mini pro screen size same with x8 and have higher resolution .

In term of speed and overall, Xperia S....but rumours Xperia phones very laggy......their timescape UI oso heavy....
I also dun like Snapdragon processor, compare with RAZR's Cortex A9 processor is better...if not mistaken, Snapdragon using Cortex A8's technology....that's the reason i go for RAZR......bad experience using HTC Sensation which uses snapdragon...

Added on March 11, 2012, 11:08 pmIf wan overall build quality....RAZR....performance, Xperia S.....but at anytime, Samsung GS3 and HTC One coming out soon....better wait for those 2 models....
using RAZR, no regrets...
*
not true . snapdragon s3 1.5Ghz + adreno 220 > TIOMAP 4430 1.2Ghz + SGX 540

however , you canot really feel the difference as they both are good enough .

ok thanks, just checked out the xperia mini, it looks good nod.gif . i'm just basing my dislike of SE from my old phones, the charger would get fiddly and hard to charge, and it seemed like cepat rosak. is that still an issue or has SE improved on that?
*
u are probably having a ap charger .

Ori charger are seperated with usb cable now and hard to spoil .

Try to find 2nd hand sensation .

The best cam of Rm1300 is drop to Arc S . Cant find better there .

I use Arc S for 1 month cover with tpu no sign of crack .

Wanna ask. I'm planning to an android phone with the budget of rm 400 - rm 500.

I'm going to choose between these two models. SE W8 or SE mini.

Is it worth adding rm 100 to get mini instead of w8?

Mini has better camera(5MP instead of 3.2MP). More storage and ram.

Mini has adobe flash support while W8 doesnt have right?

1 GHz on mini while 600 mhz on W8.

TQ.
*
mini beat w8 in all way .

the 600mhz on w8 is armv6 which is really outdated .

The 1ghz on mini is cortex A8 which can decode 720p video .

And mini will have ICS .

Further more 300mb internal vs 120mb and 200 ram vs 512 ram

Motorola atrix / LG optimus x2 is out of my budget seriously... ><
Xperia play nice?
Xperia U will be out on april?
*
Play is decent .
keep the internal memory above 100mb then it will be lag free .

It have best speaker among the phone is used ( even better than my laptop ).

But if you don wan to use game pad frequently then better get pro / arc which have hdmi port and better cam .

Hi guys trying to decide between Sony Xperia S ,samsung Galaxy Nexus or Samsung Galaxy note. which one do you guys recommend. I have been reading a whole of reviews still can't decide....help pls....
*
In term of processing power these 3 doesnt have big gap .

Note is nice for the S pen and bigger screen .

Galaxy nexus have vanila android 4.0 .

Xperia S have HDMI output with USB OTG for keyboard mouse and gamepad .

They have their own advantage but all of them is on top of android piramid for now and probably enough power for you to use for few year without outdated .

Choosing any of them is fine . You can looks at demo unit and decide yourself which one you like .

Hallo, I heard this thread got lots of phone sifus who baik2 can help recommend phone biggrin.gif

Budget : ~RM1400
Specs : - Latest ICS phone
            - good battery life
            - use for medium gaming, apps, music(!), movies
            - prefer any brands except htc and huawei.

theres lots of choices right? i pening to choose already.
but if possible, for me the weight goes on the battery life. I want a phone that I don't have to charge every single day just for minimal use. maybe ones that last 4-5 days of standby time.

As for 8mp camera, hd capabilities, 3d, etc, I don't really mind having those stuff. Its an added bonus if they're good, but as long as it is convenient to use it for music, videos and a bit of gaming, I'd be smiling from ear to ear.
*
too bad the requirement of "ICS update" doesnt leave you much of choice .

I can only think optimus 2x and Arc S in that price range that will get ICS update officialy .

HTC will update all their 2011 lineup but as you don wan HTC i wont recommend you one .

(I'm reposting this from the Android general questions thread, since it may e better suited for this thread)

Hi guys  smile.gif

I'm thinking of finally buying an Android phone but one of my biggest concern is that the phone that I chooes won't be updated to the latest Android version by the phone makers.

So I guess my question is, will I be able to buy a fairly decent Android phone (e.g. SGS 2, Xperia S, Galaxy Note or HTC One X) and install a plain version of the latest Android versions (i.e. the plain ICS on Galaxy Nexus)?

Then should the next version come (Jelly Bean?) will I still be able to install that version into the four phones I've stated?

I am not interested with the Galaxy Nexus purely because the camera does not meet my need of producing higher than average quality pictures, so if anybody would be able to give me their views I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!  smile.gif

The one x and xperia s will have bigger chance to get more update as its 2012 lineup .

The sg2 will probably abbandon by samsung like sgs soon as it is 2011 lineup . Still its all depend on the manufacturer .

For plain android , its posible but again it depend on comunity need and developer .

From the pass experience on XDA , usually the comunity doesnt like vanila android that much and developer always giving MIUI and HTC sence UI .

Lets make it easy. The more expensive and newer phone will have larger chance to get update. Even ics is not out for most of the phone. Don think so much about next update. There will be 4.1 4.2 4.3 first beforw that

hello guys, i really tempted to get a sony xperia s but htc one x is coming soon. so the question is sony xperia is powered by 1.5 dual-core while htc one x is powered by 1.5 quad-core, what's the difference actually?

This is my first android phone and my main usage will be web surfing and im not really into gaming. so i think xperia s is enuff for my main usage right?
*
don worry , if you don play HD game often then even single core is enough for you .

1. Brand: Preferably Samsung but open to others
2. Budget: Below RM1k
3. Specs: Should be fairly recent with decent specs
4. What you need in the phone: Stability out of the box - no crashing, no random reboots etc.

Hi guys, I need a recommendation for an Android phone for the wifey, I have narrowed it down to either the Galaxy W or the newer Ace Plus. Looking at the specs, I'm leaning towards the Galaxy W, but the Ace Plus is the more recent model and she likes the iPhone-like shape. Price difference between these 2 won't be that much I guess.
She won't be bothered to upgrade the firmware and such.

Any opinions on these models (or others) are very much appreciated.

Both are fine if you don have the must for android 4.0 .

well i dont mind i cheaper phone since can save some bucks but it has to be long lasting in terms of hardware n software for at least 2 years perhaps? or am i demanding too much? tongue.gif

Sensation XE will last 2 year .

Or if can wait then wait for mid range phone .

Currently xperia P seem like promising and price should be lower tha RM1500 when launch .

xperia s is really way above the budget
hmm sensation XE over s2?
*
Actually XE is equal with s2 . But now s2 don have non G set so XE is better .

It even come with beats earphone . The only draw back is their service center is located at selangor only .

And samsung have alot service center across states same like sony .

Z710e Sensation [ 8.0MP | 4.3' | D1.2GHZ ] - RM 1490 ORI( FOC.8GBMC )
Z715e Sensation XE [ 8.0MP | 4.3' | D1.5GHZ ] - RM 1660 ORI Black & White
** Sensation XE FOC( 8GB & Beats Headset

if really tight budget can get sensation without XE . Provide similiar performance with 1.2ghz vs 1.5ghz processor .

Galaxy S2 I9100G 16GB ORI [ 8.0MP | VD-Call | D1.2GHZ ] - RM 1820 Black & White

galaxy s2 is out of ur budget also .

xperia S ap set certaintly will drop due to the accesories of ori set is quite nice , they have to lower the price to be able to compete with ori set .

Hi, I'm considering between Sony Experia Neo V, Ray and Galaxy W, as my budget is preferably below rm9++...

I wish to go for original only. I initially wanted to go for W due to its value for money specs...but then I felt that the design wasn't so nice after all sad.gif and sony would be offering official ICS update.

Which would you guys and girls recommend? This is my first smartphone, hehe smile.gif Thanks all!
*
can consider xperia pro also .

Same spec with neo V but with better cam and qwerty keyboard

ray is also good price on spec below RM900 ori Free livesound earphone !

ipad can watch mkv? it is not even 720p reso... 10.1 i heard ppl say laggy... dont know tho.. transformer prime is kinda expensive.. unless no choice need to convert before watch
*
Like i say , mostly dual core android tab will be able to play 720p mkv .

But it all depend on how much bit rate of it . ( all 1.5 hour mkv with 2GB below file size should play flawlessly on dual core tablet )

MKV is just a packaging file . The content inside can be anything .

galaxy tab / sony S tab / even eee pad transformer ( not the prime ) will do the job .

eee pad transformer / prime is a nice choice if you wan to movie alot .

The usb port and micro sd extended memory is priceless .

Try not to buy china brand or cheap tablet because the screen quality wont be ideal for movie .

Guys, which of these 2 phones have a better long term lifespan as in updates.

Galaxy S2 or Note?

Which of those two will continue getting updates?

Thanks
*
Note will get better suport on update because it is newer .
However , samsung seem like only give update for 1 year .
So you might need to cautious that they will stop giving update after 2012 lineup come out .
