where do you buy that minerock? i want some. how much bro?got others bw products kah?
*
You can get it from aquashop in lelong , 500g pack for like RM70++ , 2ft tank only need to put in 1 -2 'ketul',
but i think the overall function beside providing mineral is to help absorb impurities & waste , so you all can see CLEAN water is first criteria in shrimps keeping.

If want to get cheap borneowild , mosura etc shrimp products , you have to go singapore.

Not hard to achieve PH8 , coral sand/chip will do the job. Sulawesi shrimps prefer temp 28-29c, their natural habitat temp is around 29.5c.
But you need to care about the TDS level. They need hardwater.
My tank is using fan temp 28'c++ , they seem comfortable.

Wow , talk about breed so early, now only start to monitor them ,not yet stable, need 2 weeks or more then only think of
helping them breed laugh.gif , i must admit i'm not ready for them yet, but can't resist their beauties, brought them , rush back home, take hold guppies tank, pack them away, remove the ever polluting java fern , clean up the filter and gravel abit, reset the tank for them as this is the only tank i have with PH7.6 with coral sand in it and cycled.

For me i like shrimps & invertebrates when i was in primary school when my father brought those feeder shrimp to feed arowana ,i will scoop up some and keep in a jar, will look at them for hrs , but as usual they all end up dead the next morning, now i know the reason cos i use untreated tap water to keep them. tongue.gif
I don't feel the same for fish, to me they like food drool.gif the only fish i like to keep is those marine one but as expected i find the marine shrimps alot alot nicer. Do you know anyone that only keep marine shrimps in a expensive marine tank? I like to be the one but it just too costly and hightech.

Btw those guppies & swordtail are my wife liabilities , i ask her, can feed them to my crayfish , she said you dare!!!!^%%& thumbup.gif

why u wanna increase ur calcium ? GH not enough ? smile.gif

i got my minerock from sazuka, same price with lelong, but i didn't put in whole piece, i break it down to small pieces and try 2 first

for sulawesi, they need higher PH and different mineral combination (US selling pre-mix salt just for sulawesi)
also their natural habitat is quite basic and empty... not fancy fancy like planted tank

cheers ~

me 'half tong' only, gottta learn some more, btw since you using ADA new amazonia i can share some experience, this soil although suitable
for shrimps , it is actually more for plants and fishes, to use it for shrimps, you need the soil to stabilize and mature enough. You will experiment
some shrimps dead in the early stage of using this soil if you rush and putting in shrimps after tank is cycled. Reason is ammonia spike is notorious
in ADA soil in early stage, just a little ticker here & there like arrangement stone/decor/plant will lead to ammonia spike.
It took me a good few mths & some occasion gravel vacuuming before the soil stabilize.
Secondly, build a strong beneficial bacteria base, this will ensure proper dispose of toxin and waste in order to maintain clean water.
Ammonia & Nitrite must be zero & Nitrate must be under control as well preferable under or not more then 5ppm, to achieve this beside water change , having some floating plant like duckweed will help absorb the nitrate.
Food and supplement , you need to spend a little on this , get at least those BW Bebi (RM40) . mosura old sea mud(RM19) , BW Shield(RM57),
BW Barley (RM22). Those food will last very long cos you only use a little everyday.

GH & Calcium , then get BW White (calcium) & for GH get BW GH UP or mosura mineral plus.
What crab you keeping ? i keep vampire crab & rainbow crab. For vampire crab more headache they not keen on be feed and eat very little,
where-else the rainbow crab are like living rubbish bin , grub down everything eatable you throw at her.

we on same boat, vampire crab, 8 of them perish in my noob hand, now i have the Qian Hu sponsor RM20 terra tank, i try to redeem my sin, but still scratching head how to care for them. i'm setting half sand half water as well, put in star moss and fissden on lava rock for them to chew on, lucky they are small eater if not both moss goes bald in no time.

i neglected my new shrimps tank , found 2 fire red report to heaven, suspect nitrate build-up as my water lettuce melted producing lot of waste.
and didn't water change for 2 weeks sweat.gif
