Planning to get a vita soon. Heavily considering getting a US PSN account. Since most of the content(most psp and psone games) I'm looking for are there. Hope to be clear some of the questions i have.

1) Can i get physical copies of R1 games from most shops? Or are they only available from specific ones and online retailers.
2) Do I have to match the game region (R1/2/3) with the PSN region in order to play multi-player co-op? Or does it only affect the online contents and DLCs.
3) Will there be any latency issues playing multi-player with players using accounts/games from other regions? E.g. I'm on US PSN trying to play co-op LBP with a friend who uses an asian account. or Killzone MP.
4) Any big downsides to using a US PSN account.

1)Most of shop selling R3 and R1
2)Some of game region lock. like RO u cant play online with other region.
3)Don't have that game lol. KZ MP beta I played before...sometimes lag. Most of time is playable.
4)Yeah Ringgit is weak...you know what I mean. But the game discount is cheap compare to asia PSN. Most of digital game I buy below USD20 it around RM60 below. DOA is only selling 9USD pretty cheap eh. But U need a plus account. 3 moth subscribe cost damage 17.++USD

Good to hear u supporting Asia PSN. I would challenge US got more content coz now Asia's content is just as good and almost every region will have similar content now just a matter of timing (eg rayman origins was free on Asia PS+ first but now free on US PS+ while Hitman absolution was free on Euro PS+ but then later free on Asia PS+). One benefit Asia's PS+ will have is that they get Japan PS vita games for free (just check out this month's and u'll know) including games like Ragnarok Odyssey!

Downside of using US PSN account, you can easily compare with Malaysia trophy hunters / gamers. But only if u interested in that sort of thing smile.gif

I'm using Umobile 2 GB (RM 40 every month). Not prepaid but so far so good. Mainly use it for near and downloading stuff. Problem with prepaid always have to remember to top up etc.

1) Ah, that's good.
2) Every-time I think I got all the details about PSV's region rules, I learn something new. Would really prefer an Asian PSN. But the limited contents on the games I wanna play are lacking.
3) Ah, Dammit. I would probably keep to playing mostly single-player games and the occasional Co-op
4) Don't know about PS+, don't have a PS3/4 at the moment. Not sure if it'll be worth the free 2-3 vita/psp games.

Not really a big thing for me. So I guess that's 1 less downside.

Also, is it just me or are shops not selling the wifi only psvita anymore.

Another reason to steer clear of US PSN and opt for Asia PSN (particularly HK) or better yet most expensive JP PSN is if you like JRPG and JP ver. game just like me...
Some great JRPG titles hardly get over to the other side of the globes except few for various reasons (some it's just a gamble hoping they do localize the game you are keen on)...
With that being said, if you are not predominantly a JRPG/JP player... Forget about this then.

Impulse got store ler.

the reason Sony retail price is higher is because of warranty and after sales service. when you fukup your Vita, you can always send to them for warranty and fix. they will not even look at AP Vitas. same case goes to PS3.

Stores not selling wifi only Vitas? Thats a surprise. All the LYN major sellers got (and even if its 3G version its priced the same now). As someone mentioned its RM 21 per month for 2-3 free new games. A new single game for Vita costs at least RM 100 and even if discounted it would be around RM 50-60 (or maybe RM 30 if from US) so its plenty worth now. Of course you need to keep renewing if you keep it every month. I paid RM 125 per year and already I'm halfway / finishing PS Vita games like Shinobido 2, Virtua Tennis 5, Star Strike Delta, Uncharted Golden Abyss, etc etc thats at least double if I had bought new / used ones online smile.gif

I guess it was only the shop's i went to. But since its both priced the same, I guess it doesn't really matter.

Somehow, I thought it was more expensive. lol, must've messed the numbers up in my head somehow. RM125 a year for 2-3 new games a month sounds pretty freakin' good.

Ok, so I just got a PS vita the other day. I've done my info digging but I just need some feedback on what I've got to make sure my knowledge is correct. Help and replies are much appreciated dudes and dude-ets'

Ok so here goes.

1) PS Vita is region free which means it'll play any game I purchase regardless of which region code the game has ie. R1, R2, R3 or R4 on the back of the case.

2) problem though is that since the update 1.80 you can no longer keep multiple PSN accounts on 1 card and if you own games from multiple regions, you have to own multiple cards tied to the right PSN account for swapping. Ie, R1 US account needs a card for your R1 Gravity Rush DLC and vice versa for R3 Persona 4 needing a R3 Asia account and it's own memory card to store that information.

3) Games which have online multiplayer funnels their players to the server corresponding to their region's game not the PSN account's region. Ie, I have an R3 Ragnarok Oddyssey therefore I'll be playing on R3 servers and can't play with people on the R1 server.

4) Ad-Hoc multiplayer also works similarly as mentioned above. R3 games will only acknowledge another R3 game and R1 with R1 etc. Which means if i own an R3 copy and my friend owns an R1 copy of a game, we can't play together.

This next one is more of an opinion that I just need.

5) if I were to stick to one given region, is it better to go with R3 or R1? In the sense from price point and ease of obtaining extras like DLCs and demos for the respective regions to maintaining a PS+ account if it ever comes to that. What's your recommendation.

Again, thanks for the feedback ^^ loving the energy from the peeps on this forum. Cheers

IIRC ever since from release Vita does not support multi accounts on one memory card. You'll have to format and swap cards to switch accounts.

Hurm I have seen somewhere...R3 still can get update from PSN US so on with R1 can get update and DLC from PSN R3.

The only thing that can been done is play online and ad hoc with other region.

Maybe this apply for some I game...maybe what I read is wrong lol

Read that on Wololo.net as the author mentions that previously there was a trick to doing it on a single card and that the update basically screwed a lot of people who used that method as it basically erased or corrupted their saves, data etc.
But yeah the jist of it is you can't maintain multiple accounts on a single card at least in the present time. Thanks mate wink.gif

@Foxseatiger

Are you sure? Coz if you're not please provide a source that confirms it. My info dates back very far so I can't be sure what applied then applies now or what tricks or bypasses which worked before still apply on the newer firmwares unsure.gif

Update, yeah I found out game companies are real weird sometimes with the region coding. Apparently with some game companies like namco and square Enix occasionally they release their games with the same 'BLES' coding for R1 to work with R3 (both NTSC) and R2 to R4 (both PAL). So your info was correct. It does work with SOME games when the print is the same. But when the 'BLES' codes are different, it won't work. >~< man... This is some complicated stuff. No wonder there's so much confusion about these things. Well in any case, best to be safe and keep to the respective regions I guess.
