Hi, I really want to buy a Vita with the accessories pack, my budget is RM 800 but i have a few question that been holding my urge to buy it.
1. Is Rm 800 for the wifi Model with the accessories pack reasonable? Nowadays, online sales are selling Vita with MMC 4gb and the game COD for like RM900 and Vita WiFi model for only RM 740. But this are all online sales, i am just wondering will buying it from the shop will be more expensive?
2. Is the Ps Vita region locked? As in if i brought a Ps Vita from Singapore, will i be able to use it to access the PSN US?
3. I was surprised that the Wifi model doesn't have GPS build it, as I presumed that applications like Near and Map will be needing the GPS in order to function. So does it mean that the applications like Near and Map will be *useless* on the WiFi model?
4. Is this a good timing to buy?
Any answers will be appreciated, thanks.
1. I just bought my PSV last month. AFAIR, the price range you listed were cheaper than what I'd seen at game store. I bought the UGA bundle for RM1.1k, and to this day, frankly I regretted over it...
2. PSV is not region lock, at least for Cartridge. If you're considering D/L games, then it's a big deal.
Okay, bear with me, two things, the Account and the Memory Card.
-Say, you register a PSN US account with Memory Card (MC-a), and download a game A,
-And if you are registering another, say HK account with MC-b (Heed: SONY lock your MC to single account)
-The game A cannot be copied into MC-b from PC as it will not detect the game A in the PC transferred from MC-a which that tied to PSN US, UNLESS MC-b is formatted and logged in with your PSN US.
That's one method about system deactivation which I haven't tried, though I doubt the outcome is positive... it's all about REGIONAL ACCOUNT LOCK, not VITA system lock...
In a sense, in order to enjoy diverse download contents (i.e. games/demos) of different regions via PSN, you need extra memory card for extra account. Sony doesn't feel sorry about you can't play your own game in different PSN account, as they can't be sure that is really you holding the "other" account... You are just a Schrodinger's Pirate to them... Also not to mention the hassle of... switching account!
BUT if you firmly opt for 1 account or Cartridges, then I hardly see it being a problem to you... perhaps.3. I believe it used location data derived from your wifi access point... but then I don't know... Since it's not 3G equipped, what would you concern over it?
4. It's up to you... since I have no clue about what genres of games you're into... BUT PSV is slowly picking up in its "roster" this year... If I have anything to say about PSV since I acquired one? I will just tell you, I HATE SONY...
Peace out.
