Hi, Guys,
Don't mind if I ask about the current price range for PS Vita?
Is RM 1049 considered steep or cheap for a Standard wifi bundle (w/o 3G)?
Also what is the prince range of 32 GB MS in Klang Valley?
Thank you.

Technically should be possible. Never heard of any Vita that is Sim Lock.
Standard barebones should be around RM 900+.

RM 1,049 plain Vita sounds expensive. (unless they bundled 4GB card + AAA game like Uncharted or Litle Big Planet).

Price range for 32 GB is around 260+

Thank you for your info, Terryfu. Appreciated it!

Does anyone own more than one PSN account here?
I wonder if deactivate the current account, will cost me the remaining fund in the wallet (or nice way to say it, donate to Sony)...

I am still struggling whether to switch my account to PSN Japan, I am really disappointed how the PSN Asia fails me, if only I knew that PSN Asia is just as pathetic as US... Has anyone tried requesting a refund? I know the Fund in wallet is not transferable to another account of different region.

Thank you.

Hi, I really want to buy a Vita with the accessories pack, my budget is RM 800 but i have a few question that been holding my urge to buy it.  yawn.gif

1. Is Rm 800 for the wifi Model with the accessories pack reasonable? Nowadays, online sales are selling Vita with MMC 4gb and the game COD for like RM900 and Vita WiFi model for only RM 740. But this are all online sales, i am just wondering will buying it from the shop will be more expensive?

2. Is the Ps Vita region locked? As in if i brought a Ps Vita from Singapore, will i be able to use it to access the PSN US?

3. I was surprised that the Wifi model doesn't have GPS build it, as I presumed that applications like Near and Map will be needing the GPS in order to function. So does it mean that the applications like Near and Map will be *useless* on the WiFi model?

4. Is this a good timing to buy?

Any answers will be appreciated, thanks.
*
1. I just bought my PSV last month. AFAIR, the price range you listed were cheaper than what I'd seen at game store. I bought the UGA bundle for RM1.1k, and to this day, frankly I regretted over it...

2. PSV is not region lock, at least for Cartridge. If you're considering D/L games, then it's a big deal.
Okay, bear with me, two things, the Account and the Memory Card.
-Say, you register a PSN US account with Memory Card (MC-a), and download a game A,
-And if you are registering another, say HK account with MC-b (Heed: SONY lock your MC to single account)
-The game A cannot be copied into MC-b from PC as it will not detect the game A in the PC transferred from MC-a which that tied to PSN US, UNLESS MC-b is formatted and logged in with your PSN US.
That's one method about system deactivation which I haven't tried, though I doubt the outcome is positive... it's all about REGIONAL ACCOUNT LOCK, not VITA system lock...

In a sense, in order to enjoy diverse download contents (i.e. games/demos) of different regions via PSN, you need extra memory card for extra account. Sony doesn't feel sorry about you can't play your own game in different PSN account, as they can't be sure that is really you holding the "other" account... You are just a Schrodinger's Pirate to them... Also not to mention the hassle of... switching account! vmad.gif

BUT if you firmly opt for 1 account or Cartridges, then I hardly see it being a problem to you... perhaps.

3. I believe it used location data derived from your wifi access point... but then I don't know... Since it's not 3G equipped, what would you concern over it?

4. It's up to you... since I have no clue about what genres of games you're into... BUT PSV is slowly picking up in its "roster" this year... If I have anything to say about PSV since I acquired one? I will just tell you, I HATE SONY... wink.gif

Peace out.

I wonder what could make you so regret buying the Vita because i heard from many that it's a good buy. By the way, the UGA bundle now cost about a thousand.

Anyway, i saw a video of someone's reviewing about the PS Vita which his Vita cannot locate his location, and one of the comment was saying that he doesn't have the GPS and therefore not able to locate it. It seem kind of cool to be able to use the application Near to meet new gaming friends.

Somehow, i find out the WiFi/3g model had cut it's price to almost the same as the WiFi model in Japan and *America* (http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/sonys-handheld-is-blowing-up-in-japan-but-its-not-because-of-the-ps-vita-price-cut/), I guess i would wait until the time when they actually sell it cheaper on the WiFi/3g Model at Malaysia's garage.

edit:
Now that i think about it, the Vita 3g from America or Japan are as good as useless in Malaysia except for the build-in GPS.  doh.gif
*
Kinda mixed feeling... Well, the regret first stemmed from knowing that I got the handheld system at a steeper price than elsewhere and getting the wrong bundle (I just couldn't find myself be fond of UGA and 4GB? Seriously, it won't be enough if you go for digital copies...) Note: the price drop doesn't apply to anywhere outside of Japan...

Needless to say still, VITA could be a blessed handheld to have than a cursed one if it wasn't SONY continue to make ridiculous decision screwing up certain group of users... If all the great games announced for VITA that I'm interested in would have gone multi-platforming, I'd probably go for the other handheld system instead... which is the only pro I keep VITA as of now...

You see, I'm into Jpn games and prefer digital copies, so multi-account is a must for me... So the Cons,
-The account switching step is just annoying.
-Likewise, every account requires a memory card, and you know SONY propriety MC doesn't come cheap...
-By that means, it discourages you from registering more account thus limiting you to one account that could be either lack of contents or just more expensive (and PSN Asia doesn't tell you which content will not be released in which Asian PSN, means you just have to switch account to get the digital copy you need from another region when it happens at your PSN)...

About 3G? I just knew that the staff of the store I got my VITA from told me that there were too many complaints about the 3G model, so better stick with wifi only model... What's the story? IDK. I never follow up since I'm not into 3G, that includes cellphone.
And I tried but never actually find the need for the NEAR, so I can't comment anything more.

Alright thanks. lol sorry I never bought one so I thought it's only sold at big game stores ^^;
*
BTW, you have to be sure getting the right PSN Card for the PSN Region you are registering your account at... If you're registering a MY account, then it'd be very easy to find one... here perhaps... Any SONY retails in mind?
If you owns an US or HK or Jpn, well dang, you'll just have to shop online to get one, means you'll probably need CREDIT/DEBIT OR ask someone coming back with the PSN Card from that particular region of your account OR ask for your mom/dad/sibling credit card...

QUOTE(aeronchan @ Apr 4 2013, 12:38 AM)
Guys just wanna ask, I'm getting a 2nd hand ps vita and the previous owner doesn't have any digital copy of games installed in it.. Only physical copy of games... When I get the vita, does it still stick to the owner's name or there's a way to reset everything?
*
Shouldn't be a major concern for physical cart... it won't and it'll probably be "deactivated" as soon as the previous owner deactivated his/her account... IIRC, just insert the cart, go to system, game activation to activate it... or simply I heard, withdraw the cart, you could just touch and hold the GAME icon and select delete. Reinsert the game will just do the work, of course you'll need to register an account first prior to playing game. As you create a new account, you'll probably be asked to format the MC anyway...

QUOTE(nozname @ Apr 3 2013, 10:26 PM)
I guess i could understand what you're saying about Sony's decision but don't worry, as i heard that the system for Vita is getting better.

Oh really? I thought the reason for the 3g crash price was because the Americans hardly use any 3g and that's why Sony had cut priced on the 3g model but after hearing what you had said about the complaints for the 3g model.
I guess i will just go for the basic Vita WiFi model with a bigger MMC because the COD bundle is too

The games? Yeah, I could see that... As for VITA is getting better? Well, IDK... Whatsoever, it matters not to me now, since I have spent enough for memory cards sad.gif

Oh well, good luck on your VITA seeking quest. Hope you get one for a decent price. It's just the lady at the store told me about the complaints, I did not personally hear it first hand from any 3G owners... Don't take "my word" for it. But frankly, you just don't really need the 3G, you might as well just share with 3G smart phone if you have one?

Anyway, what kinda games are you guys playing or will be playing?

Ahh!! It's my fault, i didn't explain very well..
Yeah, i guess my final decision is to order the Vita WiFi unit (RM 749) through online. somehow i know it is very risky to trade online but it has a very huge customer base.

By the way, if i brought a Vita without the memory card, can i switch PSN account? Just wondering that i should only log in after my purchase of a memory card.

Well, i was hoping to play Gravity Rush, Persona and Soul Sacrifice. Though, the road for me to buy those games is a very long distance since i still need to purchase 2 MMC and subscription for America and accessories.
*
You can still run your VITA like normal and browse PSN store all you want (even without signing in)... the only time you'll need MC for is playing games especially digital copy or game save requirement for some VITA card games or d/l something from PSN, while I'm saying this, I can't be too sure about it though as I never bother to try other apps to find out whether the MC is essential too when running apps than games, psn stores or web browser...

I see the games you're into. Apart from Soul sacrifice, the other two have been out for quite some time especially GR. The digital copy still costs at quite a lot, so you may want to go for 2nd hand cartridges instead. Just a thought.

Will second hand cartridges damage our Vita if it's spoiled? Well, just curious about it.
So do you actually subscribe to the PS+? Well, as you can see, i am pretty much a beginner so i will need your guidance after the PS Vita arrive my doorstep.

I already purchased the PS Vita, with a 16gb memory card for nine hundred something. Just wondering how much is the subscription too. *Sigh~* I am going bankrupt for months.
*
If you are a beginner, then I am barely a novice... biggrin.gif
Well, I don't know if a damaged game cart will harm your VITA, my theory is it won't, it may just not gonna play or just faulty (i.e keep frozen at certain point)... Again, I don't know what kinda damage a bad cart can cause to VITA...

I don't subscribe PS+... and each region has different price tag, different currency after all... I just know there are many preferring US PSN PS+ and you can get the info from US PSN for subscription fee. Or just scroll a couple pages back in this thread or the other VITA thread.

Talked about bankrupt... I have spent grands just to play four games... blush.gif thanks to SONY... irking system update and decision... doh.gif

Haha, that's so humble of you saying that you're a novice...

You should really subscribe to PS+ then... It's probably the best since you don't really need to afford so many games with all the freebies that i heard. That is also the purpose of me buying the 16gb, i would had brought the 32gb but it's far away from my budget. Hmm...

Wanna be friends in PSN? When i receive my Vita, i will add you first!!
My first PSN friend. lol~  rclxms.gif
*
Well, I am still learning about VITA... although many learned through the hard way...

What I heard about PS+ is that once your subscription is up, you won't be able to play those games anymore until you renew it... And it doesn't include all VITA titles, so I will just pass for now unless someone else here can tell me more about its pro...

I have two accounts, depend on which regions you register, you may or may not be able to add me at all.
Regardless, my MY account is Lonesome-lobo83 and my HK account is Lobonot2happy.

To be honest... I haven't even tried those functions at all since I just mainly play games on VITA and don't bother with turning on wifi at home (I'm still with TM Streamyx... so yeah, you get the drill)

Japan had been getting the price slash to USD199 since March. And there's still no news about whether other regions will get the price slash as well. Even though I had not keep myself updated for PSV related news but it seemed like the game titles are almost the same like the one I checked few months back! Of course there are some notable ones like Persona 4: The Golden and the upcoming MGS but still, it still does not justify my purchase of PSV.
*
well, the key word is REGION...

The price cut announced by Sony __JAPAN__ month ago is applicable to products sold in... well, make a wild guess... Japan.

And be very careful even with the news from PSN ASIA, digest it well as there are other SUB-regions too...
As for games... you want it to drop? Well, just go for a 2nd hand VITA game card or better yet, subscribe PS Plus where you may get certain free games... that's the only way to go for cheap games, I guess unsure.gif ...

*
If you come for technical or game specific info... I guess I could give you some ideas...

But about financial and 2nd hand issue? That's just so difficult to measure as I don't know how well the ex-owner treated it and I don't know what your budget is as well as your gaming expectation... You have to make the call on yourself, or wait for person having experience with 2nd hand VITA...

Yeah I know it's not an easy question to answer and it's so subjective... Sigh... my budget is around 900-1.2k.. the diff is if I buy 2nd hand I can get free games from previous owner... but if I get a new one... I need to invest more money on games...
*
Yup, it never is easy... especially we are buying at steeper price elsewhere people are buying cheaper for the same thing sad.gif ... And some airheads still insist we Malaysian are "financially" strong, may be because we could buy at higher price nobody else could except dumb@$$es?? ahemmm

Anyway, I don't know how much the ex-owner is willing to sell and what games are coming with it... I'd also assume they are VITA game cards, not digital copies... Has the warranty voided? What is the size of MC coming with? etc...

This is the deal.. Some games I don't really play but it's kinda steal coming with 10 games...
*
I can't decide for you on that even though you have voiced that some of those games don't appeal to you...

Honestly, I'll probably stand by cycheah and go for a new one for that price... looks like a Uncharted bundle coming with a 4GB)...
My philosophy on that is I just need half the numbers of games I will play and enjoy and not half the games which will just sit to build dust and possibly don't get rid of easily (resell, I meant. It just appears to me that some titles ain't in high demand...)
Voila, this is my opinion.

Your pick (or you could possibly wait until PS4 is announced at year end, I believe then a very high chance the Vita price may drop)...

is it worth getting the 3g\wifi version or just go for the wifi version?? need some info on this icon_question.gif

Wifi of course... with Jpn/US VITA, the 3G card is not compatible, I heard.

So unless you desire 7/24 accessible to PSN network/online, then you should be careful when you purchase the VITA.

I have seen a store here that sell 3G/W and W VITA at the same price even though it's only Jpn Sony has had the handheld price cut and two models sold at same price ATM.

If they are different in prices, where 3G model comes out steeper as initial launch, I would say no merit of getting the 3G... seriously, why would you need it for non-gaming purposes when ipad, smartphone, to name a few can do the same thing?

You can't possibly go for online-gaming while you on the move too... well, it's up to you if it's just affordable as a standard wifi model...

Just sharing my experience, if anybody looking for a screen protector after buying their brand new Vita, just be cautious that there are a lot of fake original brand screen protector that are selling overpriced.

Well, try looking at the screen protector of the brand you seek at the internet before you actually buy it from the local game shop. At least you will know how the packaging looks like and won't get scammed like me.
*
Ain't you getting a VITA bundle? Thought one should come with the bundle... at least for UGA bundle. Or you bought brand new standard VITA package?

Hey .. have some questions regarding psn account / games locked to a single memory card.. read up on the articles and still having confusion, can anyone here help?

So I (used to) have a PS3 and my main account is a US account which I bought some psone classics, I also have a SG account to download some DLC for some R3JP games I have. Though now I figured SG psn will not be important for the vita since it's not even listed in the page .. (correct me if I'm wrong)

For the vita, if I'm going for any dlc, I should not be worrying which account to use right? If there's a chance I want to get a DLC for my r3jp games, I have to get another memory card for jp psn and also keep my saves on that card?

Sorry if this sounds confusing....
*
I hope I got what you're trying to say...

You have a US account... tied to your VITA memory card. Correct?
You own a JP R3 Games (non-digital), correct?
So now you want a DLC for that game? Correct?

Well, sticky... anyway, the answer is YES, you need another card if you want to keep the save data...

well, it's kind of pointless even though you get a new card and register with JP PSN... Unless someone knows how to transfer the DLC to your US account tied memory card... otherwise, yeah, pointless...of course, providing someone knows how to do it with PS3, there may be a chance... I'm pretty sure you are screwed with VITA alone...

Since you can't bring the DLC to the US account tied MC anyway... and there is no save data transfer like PSP... in any case, you might have to start out fresh by formatting your memory card (save the $ but lost the save data) and go for PSN JP... again, unless you know how to do it with PS3, I never own one so I don't know if there is any trick PS3 can do to reverse it... something I want to do too without spending extra for multiple accounts...

As far as I have learned about PS3, yes, this is the biggest complaint we heard over the other side of globe. And no clue why would SONY come to this decision for PSV while its big brother gets to have the privilege... either it's the limitation of the system or just purely come from LESSON LEARNED of PS3 hmm.gif ...? IDK... and if you were going for Digital copies, it'd be even more outrageous about what SONY has done after FW 1.8X...

SONY should just drop the V and rename the handheld to PITA, it becomes Pain In The Axx...

If I am buying a 2nd hand ps vita.
Will I be able to reformat and open new psn account?
Heard that vita only support one user?
And which region is better?
*
Absolutely.

Support one user... eh well, depend on what angle you are looking at... it "allows" you to have multiple accounts, only that you cannot cross sharing digital contents (games) among accounts of different regions (account is linked to Memory Card), means you cannot transfer/copy digital games content (don't know about video or music etc) from a US account tied Memory Card to other non-US accounts tied Memory Card, i.e JPN or HK etc... (unless it's a new or formatted MC).

For game card, it's another story, you can have two VITA systems exchange the game cards to play (the 3rd VITA must require deactivation)... DO read the game manual carefully for the limitation, they never get bored repeating the same things anyway...

Actually, I think as long as the game is "manually deleted", it "automatically" counts as Deactivation too... So yeah, that's my oversight, thanks for pointing that out...
As for digital copy, "game content limited to 2 VITA system" is just total redundant, frankly...

Okay... anyone running into this experience with PSN yet?
I am downloading a DLC pack from the HK server... Then kept having stuck at the Preparing to Download notification... And cancelled it will literally lock me at the DLC screen with no way to get out (PS button is not working), I would consider it "FROZEN" (although my patient barely allows me to sit through 5 minutes, so yeah)... Took me 4 times ON/OFF VITA just to get the dlc downloaded... The maintenance was supposedly slated for two days ago...

Edit:Just realized there was a latest FW released which we have to manually update... I wonder if this has anything to do with it... hmm.gif

I do encountered same problem too. I tried download free game from PS+, happened same as you, stuck at preparing to download notification screen, after that can't get out PS store by press PS button. Power off Vita once, succeed with second tried. Maybe related to FW2.10??

Already upgraded to FW2.11 this morning, no time to try on download issue (any improvement after implemented new FW??)
*
Yeah, I was done with my update only after completing the download... Couldn't test it either... Glad the VITA still runs fine after numerous forceful shutdown, so far unsure.gif
I knew there was a "VERY minor complaint" about experiencing slight lag when you return to game after awakening the system from sleep mode. I thought I was the only one experiencing it, but just not giving too much thought about it as it only lasts split second...
