Iranian DM Unveils 20 Important Scientific, Defense Projects

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi on Tuesday unveiled 20 important projects in energy, nanotechnology, microelectronic, optic, laser, missile and naval fields.

" One of the projects is the designing and building of a high-frequency electronic part named David Salitani which will provide the ground for the production of Salitani transistors in Iran, " Vahidi told reporters in Tehran, explaining that the transistor would provide the country with the possibility to produce highly fast electronic circuits for large capacity telecommunication which cannot be tapped by anyone.

"Another system which was inaugurated today is a machine which generates electricity and heat concurrently while using only one energy source like natural gas or oil, " he added.

Vahidi pointed out that the system has a very high and unrivalled efficiency rate of 80% of energy production, while the figure stands at around 30% to 35% in power plants.

Iran has made huge achievements in various fields of science and technology, from nuclear knowledge to stem cell and Nano technology.

In a most recent case, Iranian Health Minister Marziyeh Vahid Dastjerdi announced in September that the country would soon start production of 15 types of anti-cancer drugs.

" 15 types of monoclonal anti-body drugs are being synthesized with the help of the Scientific Department of the Presidential Office, using hi-tech technology, " Vahid Dastjerdi said.

Also earlier this year, Iranian scientists succeeded in producing new types of medication for treating different kinds of cancer, viral diseases and arthritis with 100% positive results.

Iran has also taken wide strides in designing and manufacturing different types of light, semi-heavy and heavy weapons, military tools and equipment. Tehran launched an arms development program during the 1980-88 Iraqi imposed war on Iran to compensate for a US weapons embargo. Since 1992, Iran has produced its own tanks, armored personnel carriers, missiles and fighter planes.

Yet, Iranian officials have always stressed that the country's military and arms programs serve defensive purposes and should not be perceived as a threat to any other country.

The European Fighter Aircraft Industry: Has it Lost Asia?
By Richard A. Bitzinger

Synopsis
Europe’s combat aircraft manufacturers, in losing a potential sale to Japan, could see their future sales to Asia evaporate completely. This could leave the United States in an unassailable position as the world’s predominant fighter aircraft producer.

and possibly china.

the only way they can compete is by bringing the price down.even if that means introducing a monkey version

Malaysia Becomes First Export Customer for Gowind

QUOTE
DCNS, through its local partner in Malaysia, Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS), has won its first export contract for a Gowind ship. The €2.14 bn deal has been signed by BNS with the Malaysian government for six Gowind-class corvettes, the biggest of the Gowind family developed on its own funds by the French military naval systems group.

Fifth Airbus Military A400M development aircraft makes first flight
201211 (Tue)

The fifth Airbus Military A400M military airlifter has made its first flight, marking the end of a highly successful year for the programme and meaning that the full fleet of Grizzly development aircraft is now in the air, completing the flight-test programme

user posted image

Known as Grizzly 5, the aircraft took off from Seville, Spain with a take-off weight of 125 tonnes at 08:55 local time (GMT+1) and landed back at Seville 2 hours 10 minutes later.

Experimental Test Pilot Christophe Marchand captained the flight, supported by Experimental Test Pilot Etienne Miche-de-Malleray. The crew also included Test Flight Engineer Jean-Paul Lambert and Flight Test Engineers Ludovic Girard and Cesar Gonzales-Gomez.

Grizzly 5 is the final member of the fleet which has now completed more than 2,500 hours of the 3,700 hour flight-test programme leading to first delivery. It carries a light flight-test instrumentation load and will be primarily dedicated to electromagnetic interference (EMI)-testing, cargo development, operational demonstrations and extreme cold weather trials.

Airbus Head of Flight Operations Fernando Alonso said: “The first flight of Grizzly 5 is right on schedule and is an excellent way to end this second year of A400M flight-testing. It provides a strong platform from which to address the challenging year ahead leading to first delivery to the French Air Force.”

During 2011 the A400M has successfully completed an extremely intensive test schedule and the aircraft has now been flown by more than 60 pilots. The key high-energy rejected take-off test has been passed as well as emergency evacuations in different configurations. Crosswind and wet runway testing is complete, and so is testing with artificial ice shapes fitted to the wings.

All stalling and braking tests have been passed, together with cruise performance, and the minimum unstick speed (Vmu), minimum control speed on ground (Vmcg) and minimum control speed in the air (Vmca) tests are also complete.

The Grizzly fleet will immediately start 2012 with an aggressive test programme, including an increasing proportion of military tests, in preparation for first delivery around the turn of the year 2012/2013.

The attached photo shows Grizzly 5 taking off from Seville this morning.

Hmm, interesting.

What is the reason to have the overwatch team armed with MP5's? Can the 9mm penetrate through the glass on the plane?

Wouldn't it be better if the overwatch uses carbines instead? The 556's penetration power should be superior.

I mean, I'm no expert but I was just wondering about that.

Yeah, but how many snipers can you deploy? How many windows can a sniper cover effectively?

Hence, the use of the overwatch team. To provide cover for the entry team.

5.56 has a high tendency of deflection when it hits curved laminated windshileds unless you shoot it at a 90 degree angle.bullet deflection is a problem for all calibres but 5.56 deflect the most

plus,5.56 will yaw and fragment after it hits a barrier thus a lower wound capability.i hope LEOs don't just have the standard NATO SS109

my philosophy is 'shoot it enough,it will die' so its good

in my current state of inebriation the info provided above may be true but it may be total BS

Take a look at this video. They are mostly armed with MP5's. Try to count how many shots were fired. Take note that only one round actually hit the suspect.

Now, that is only a car windshield. Glasses on an airplane are much, much thicker.

both 5.56 and 9mm are weak against intermediate barriers

solution:shoot the F'er at the same point of aim until rounds get through
