im new here.. im planning to buy the G74sx.. but i dunno which one to choose, either with 3d or non-3d?? So, wats the best suggestion/recommendation in term of version?? Is there any problem with this G74sx recently?? tq..

btw, how any people OC their ROG?

Well I also just use this laptop...

So far have no problem even I use it for my rendering works~
Between 3D or not it is actually depends on you if you are really into that stuff.
You can try check on website for the game that support 3D as to make sure that the game you prefer or like is supported if not it is just waste if you buy it but not use it ^^
Anyway just my piece of opinion

i saw in notebookcheck there are many version like 10 of them.. which version is the latest one?? and i confuse that v911185(3d) without ssd..??

1. Does all g74sx versions come with 3GB and GDDR5 graphic Vram and SSD included??

Im looking for something like below..

* default intel@core i7 2670QM processor
* FHD 1920x1080 Matte (no to Glossy!)
* of course GT560M with 3GB and GDDR5 VRAM Graphics
* NON-3D version <--- ( but 3D capable??)
* HDD with SSD <<--- ( optional )
* Blu-Ray Combo ( RW support )
* 2.0 Megapixel <--- ( Is it HD?? Default?? )

SO, any one knows which version is it into??

I think each of those version are referring to the specification for the laptop.
As like mine with 8GB ram + HDD only not SSD as you can change it later.
Each of them have different price if not mistaken

Owh! forgot to mention I buy this model from dealer COD~

3gb is 192 bit version.. 2gb is 128bit version ( bbk models)
non 3d can do 3d but u need a 3d tv...

just buy the one that fits with ur budget and 3gb gpu ram...

Thats mean, non 3d version can only support 3d in 3d tv..
1. But wat about the 3d version meaning..
sure that it will consumed more power/kill batterylife fast..
2. Then how does it runs on the display.. 24 hours 3d? any option/how to disable/enable it, adjust the hertz???

mm.. but with 3d.. i will get the 192 bit faster than the non 3d right??.. mm..

answers..

1) You'll have faster boot times.
2) 3D gaming w/o using red/cyan glasses, looks better. Also the 120Hz panels are brighter and matte, so better to use with reflective light.
3) If you don't have a 120Hz panel, you're limited to 60Hz.
4) You can do 3D on non-3DE machines, but only in red/cyan mode, and at 30Hz.

i think the 3d screen of 74sx is glossy..

1. not sure.. maybe yes cuz of the 120hz screen...

2. u only get 3d while running 3d programs.. likes games that support 3d... 3d pics... 3d movies.... when ure browing.. its all 2d... yes u can lower the refresh rate ,hertz, from nvdia control panel.. when gaming 3d, theres a button on the upper left hand corner for u to turn off 3d mode on the fly..

3. non 3d 74sx also got 192bit 3gb gpu... actually i dont quite understand this question lol


i recommend u to buy from asus malaysia . only one model there. no need think so much LOOOL

thanks.. yall.. finally.. i will ordered G74sx 91325v tomorrow.. RM5900 default 2 years global warranty + 4 years shop warranty given for free!... LOL.. bundled mouse, 3d glasses and ROG bagpack.. + choose to have 12x freebies worth not more than 50 each.. 50 x 12 = RM 600!!! LOL

I need to know what should i check upon receiving the lappy??
im wondering if there is any portable system checker for it??
as im planning to Burn test the graphic, after checking the specs accordingly..
do i need to do that b4 i left the shop??
if yes, any recommended portable software (if available) and version?? furmark? heaven? msi kombuster? or else???

would appreciated of your guidances/advices/experiences of the above situation..

1) Understand what is Hybrid Drive and how its differs from Conventional Mechanical Drives.
2) 3D Screen. That's it.
3) No, If ur screen isn't 3D 120hz, and ur tweaking it from 60hz -> 120Hz. U could just ruin ur lcd monitor or if ur lucky, permanent black out.
4) That would depends on ur configuration and HDMI 1.4a specification.

Graphic should be any issue. Just check for the specs and make sure ur screen is a working one without and dead/stuck pixel. Make sure all goodies are there.
Before that, make sure the box taken out by salesperson is a sealed box.

Don't think it would be any problem unless the timing is different from the provided 4GB.

just want to ask is there any ivy bridge Laptop for G-series soon?

yup, there's a rumour of it G55 & G75 but we dont know exactly when it'll come as the Ivy Bridge isnt even available yet
