From my past NS experience, I can say NS is quite a good memory in my life. For surely you'll hate it and curse yourself for being selected for the NS in the first week, but soon after that you wouldn't even notice that you're laughing and enjoying your time there. Just take what's positive from the programme : You get to fill your long holiday with beneficial activities ( although some might say staying at home is better. Seriously my friends who wasn't selected for NS were dead bored by the third week of the holiday ), and yeah you get to meet new friends, get to discover new places. Just enjoy your time there, it'll sure be a nice one. Btw, I was also placed in a very rural camp last time, Kem Lagenda Gunung Ledang, Asahan, Melaka.

i was in kem setia ikhlas, semenyih

breakfast: bread with sugar/nasi lemak/mee goreng

lunch: rice with chicken(red sauce, some brown sauce, curry). the chicken is still ok actually. but the fish sucks. i usually skip the meal if the serve fish and eat maggi mee instead.

dinner: same as lunch

my camp has a gerai selling nice nasi lemak during at night so it's not too bad. otherwise i would steal papadam from the vegeterians.

There's a grocery store in the camp selling basic stuffs.

Otherwise I'll just eat biscuits and sleep throughout the lunch break.

Hmm.. Well.. I kinda enjoyed my NS experience two years ago. I got into Batch 2 (fyi, it is longer than Batch 1). I've only been in there for like 45 days though. I got into Form 6 then got out halfway. rclxms.gif But still I manage to shoot the M16 at my last week at the camp. CB (yes, I said CB) class can be boring depending on how you accept it.

You'll get to meet a lot of people from the different states of Malaysia. You can know about the rest of the part of Malaysia just by talking to them. The trainers are friendly in my camp (but not for the girls la..) sweat.gif

Oh yeah, you actually eat 6 times a day. And they'll highly encourage you to take all of their meals, still, you'll lose weight. blink.gif

Somehow I got fairer after returning from NS.

But at the end, it all depends on where you were posted?

Guys , I wanna ask if you fall sick at the camp , then you said you wanna go to hospital , but the trainers dont allow you to do so , what are you going to do ?

Can scold them ? lolol , coz previously I read up got many deaths is happening , in fact I think every year also got , what to do if they dont send you to hospital if you're really sick , cant endure much .  ohmy.gif  ohmy.gif

Actually, if you fall sick, they'll treat you like prince/princess. They have their own medical room. Not sure whether the people treat you are real doctors or not. If it's too serious, they might even send you home and say you'll be exempted in excuse of not fit for the program. But no certificate of participation, I think?

But still, I guess it depends on the camp la.. sweat.gif

From my experience, NS is something you'll always remember forever. Like a hate-love thing.

I've to admit that I took a dislike towards NS before I joined and was very curious about who am I'm going to meet and what's set out for us. Surely there will be some negotiation periods when you've to adapt to your new surroundings.

But soon, you'll make loads of new friends, from your dorm mates to class mates. Unless you're the isolated kind, you'll blend in with the community pretty quick.

There is a koperasi in most/ every camp, but stuffs there can be a little pricey. You can wait until Sundau(family day) for your family to bring supplies, but sometimes you just can't wait and will eventually give in.

Even when 2 years are already approaching, I can still recall my reminiscence. Good times.

@danco91: I hate to say it, but the doctors at my camp were trainees, and didn't really know how to handle trainees properly. Every flu, cough for whatsoever, a jab in the butt would be considered by them.

I got first batch last time, around 2 months + 15 days I think, not really remember.
CNY got break for a few days.
The first month they have the CB Class (Character Building) and I can tell you that is the most boring time in my life.
I would really died of boredom back there.

After physical training session starts, things get better.
For future candidates, remember to steal some bullets as a souvenir when you go for the M16 shooting, we stole a few but now hilang semua already  cry.gif

Of course there are, although I'm in the first batch where ppl would say its the most educated and well mannered batch. But its up to the person itself to manage themselves well there, but some idiot gangster wannabe just cannot stop themselves from showing off such 'skills' they have. In the end they pay for it, some was sent back home and will be recalled again to join the NS again with other batches, even if they were caught red handed by the trainer one day before the NS ends.

First of all, what does PKNS has to do with NS? Haha joking, you might had a very serious typo there. Nope, never had that. Perhaps he's in the high council at the camp?

but some have succeded. you may try your luck. before the shooting session you also have to read an oath that you will not steal the bullets like what UserU has mentioned above.
