Hey guys at what kind of minimum budget do I need to have headphone produce quality equal or better than Klipsch GMX 2.1 speaker.

- My Rig: PC = onboard Sound card = Realtek ALC888 codec = http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-p...spx?pid=3454#sp
- Type of usage: = Games 40% Movie 30% Music 30%
- File format: See above on my usage.
- Music genre: Any
- Budget: please give option for ~RM100, ~RM150, ~RM200. (do I need higher on this to equal my speaker quality?)
- Headphone/ earphone type: Open back headphone?
- Other requirements (if any): Can it produce sound quality = or better than Klipsch GMX 2.1 speaker.  hmm.gif  may be not air tight so my ear can "breath"?  tongue.gif

I am not asking for upgrading my ear taste, but I am asking to minimum money spending while "retain" my ear taste. tongue.gif Hopefully u guys get what I mean.  smile.gif

What soundcard do you have, or are you using onboard?

Gaming headsets/phones are mainly considered to be marketing gimmicks eg. "true" 5.1 surround sound:

http://www.google.com.my/search?q=AKG+K550...iw=1920&bih=950

http://www.overclock.net/t/871864/are-5-1-...s#post_11395810

For a soundcard Asus Xonar DG is good, can power headphones up to 150-ohm(works ok with 250-ohm) and has Dolby Headphone(which is basically emulated surround sound,, but more powerful than most gaming headsets I think)

For headphones, Samson SR850 is very widely recommended for gaming, and is RM150.

Hope this helped biggrin.gif

Thanks for your advice. Guess I will not waste my money on 5.1 headsets then. smile.gif Yes, am using onboard sound. I read a review here in LYN saying the Samson SR850 pad causes sweat after awhile. Any ways to solve that?

Hmm, I'm going to Germany in end of July, might be able to get some AKG240 Velour pads which fit the SR850. http://www.thomann.de/gb/akg_k240270271_ve..._ohrpolster.htm If you're willing to wait that long and I have enough time to get them. biggrin.gif DT770 pads also fit apparently.
