Hey, I've been thinking about upgrading from my old falling apart headphone to a gaming headset for my PC and PS3.

My price range is around RM200, can stretch to RM300.

I don't have any preferences, except for being able to hear footsteps on CoD and Battlefield.

I've been looking at the Turtle Beach P11 but couple of questions: If I get the P11 will I need a soundcard?
If so, what's a good one for around RM100?
Is there a better alternative to the P11?

What soundcard do you have, or are you using onboard?

Gaming headsets/phones are mainly considered to be marketing gimmicks eg. "true" 5.1 surround sound:

For a soundcard Asus Xonar DG is good, can power headphones up to 150-ohm(works ok with 250-ohm) and has Dolby Headphone(which is basically emulated surround sound,, but more powerful than most gaming headsets I think)

For headphones, Samson SR850 is very widely recommended for gaming, and is RM150.

Hmm, I'm going to Germany in end of July, might be able to get some AKG240 Velour pads which fit the SR850. http://www.thomann.de/gb/akg_k240270271_ve..._ohrpolster.htm If you're willing to wait that long and I have enough time to get them. DT770 pads also fit apparently.
