Yeah, I also think the same thing. Actually, at first I wanted to buy Ace because of my budget and the specs were in the average category. But then I was browsing SAMSUNG website then came across Galaxy W and I was like 'woah, so much difference for just RM200'. So, I got the Galaxy W instead  biggrin.gif

I thought someone said there's a counter in the phone to track how many times it's been rooted, and Samsung Service Center can see this counter?

How is the Ace? When using it, got lag or hang before?

Slight lags occasionally, never hung on me before. Though I rooted and flashed it to GB 2.3.6.

Well, the W is the successor to the Ace and some people can't afford to spend so much to get a better spec-ed phone. When you think about it, if you add like RM200 or so, you can get a phone with better specs than the one you have now so it's all about what you need and what you can afford.

Hi I am considering W and S Plus which is RM 400 more.

S Plus - bigger screen easier to type and view things on screen. Tho is has AMOLED screen but W screen seems sharper and brighter. Bad is Touch Wiz 3.0 not so nice compared to 4.0 and then no flash for camera.

W - Smaller and nice to hold but scared of call quality as seems many members complained of that and lower memory on board which makes it restricted if we don't root the phone.

If compare to W, advantage is bigger screen but if compared to iPhone, then W is bigger. Going to get my set this weekend but still decision not made up, W or S Plus? Any advice guys? Thanks a lot!

I'm using the W so I would suggest you the W. For ne it's a great device and I'm sure you would get used to the screen size smile.gif

im S+ user and trust me, touchwiz is not really important anyway, as mostly people would use 3rd party launcher like go launcher, adw, etc. and if u really want TW4, there is a TW4 launcher u can use. yeah i agree the bad thing for S+ is that it has no flash. decision is urs anyway biggrin.gif

Do we need to root the phone to use those other launchers or it is just an app we install from the Market?

So far any bad things you encountered when using your S Plus? Thanks.

I need that phone for pretty much all the features, both work and personal purposes. So i guess i'll get 1 pretty soon smile.gif

The thing is that i stumble upon this Nokia showroom and take a look inside. I saw that it has its own GPS (Nokia map services) Is it dedicated satellite service thus making it detect on road signal detection stronger and steadier?
So the GPS basically run on 3G or satellite? I wanted to buy a dedicated GPS but it costs around RM499. Might as well buy a phone.
Samsung rooting can do such thing also aa?  icon_idea.gif

Yes, Nokia got own maps for its devices, even for old nokias. Free maps, free navigation. Nokia can do this because Nokia OWNS Navteq, the map provider for most major GPS/Map companies (Eg. Google Map, Garmin). That's the advantage of getting nokia. Any newer model with Symbian Anna/Coming Belle or Windows or Meego... ... Cool right?

I'm not that sure but rooting it have access to those folders and modify the files inside. My friend did this on his Nexus S, which is widely supported by the community. Really a nice and cool phone. Overclock to 1.4GHz with ease and many custom rom for it really really squeeze out all the juice the phone have. He showed me, OC to 1.4GHz and scored 4k++ in quadrant. That's even higher than S2 on stock rom. I don't know how those developer can make this happen. Really awesome. But the thing is... his set is US set. maybe he just change the default location to MY. Not really sure. you might google around for that. However, when trying to lock into position, that day I tried with his phone and my phone(nokia N82). In open air, his phone really locks very fast. That day, I did the test in top floor of a 3-storey building. N82 locks gets 6~7 satellites with 3~4 firm signal while his, get 8 satellites but none locks into position. If you get what I mean nod.gif Not saying my nokia is good but it don't fail hard in terms of GPS though. Still going strong thumbup.gif

Hi guys. wanna ask if the phone GPS run on satellite or roaming 3G.

Sry for the trouble smile.gif

Gonna use smart phone for the first time very soon.

You can choose either to on A-GPS or off it. On A-GPS, it will lock on based on ur Cell Tower or Wifi network location. Off it, it runs solely on internal GPS receiver.

SPlus is RM200 more only. W is RM858, SPlus is RM1050. From my observation in Garage Sales lah... RM200 for the Super AMOLED and bigger screen but no LED flash. Worth it? To me, yes.

Nah, I'm using GO Launcher EX but ADW should perform just as well.

Got ever feel lag before? Because I using ADW Launcher for my Galaxy Tab P1000 and sometimes when scrolling through my home screen or app drawer, will lag. So I'm worried that same thing happens for my Galaxy W sad.gif

Lag? Not any noticeable, but there are slight slow downs. It's more apparent on my ace.
