I want to comment about white nest vs slight yellow nest. As a processor for 6 years myself.

White nest is very clean. There isnt much black spot inside the strain. The legs (yan jiao) is very thin also. So when we process, there is less yan jiao to be cut off. Generally white less total wastage will be 5-7% lower than slight yellow counterpart.

Slight yellow nest inside quite dirty. A piece of this raw sometimes weight about 14g, after process 8g. Can you imagine the wastage here.

If white raw is rm300 more expensive, i rather take the white nest.

Its clean because mostly its never been used. When you dont allow the birds to grow the next generation and when the older birds die off.. What will be come on the industry? I think most ranchers if able would want to have clean n white nests to sell too.

it depends on the "grade" that you have at hand, from what I understand the pricing has been pushed down because now its heavy feather season and some stocks got stuck in CN (this part doesn't make sense to me, need more stock to replenish, shouldn't it push price higher?).

You are asking million dollar question. Have you build one yet?

Ahh how time flies. Been 10 years into bird house and almost 5 years into processing. Been riding up and down for raw price since 2008

Do you earn more from BH or processing ?
How many workers do you have?

For the first 3-4 years, I made less than BH per month. 4th to current 6th year, it is vice versa. I have 23 workers in local. Factory in kampung, so my cost is among the lowest.

Do you pay your workers fixed salary or based on how many grams process per day ?

Have rest time in between.

How do you keep track whether your workers steal
few grams of raw bn per day and sell it to underground market?

Wow been a long time since I last looked here.

Spray Fendona all over including the nesting planks, tweeters, and unharvested nests. This will kill all the mites as well as when the mite eggs hatch. If you don't do this the mites will continue to breed.

Fendona won't kill any of the birds, even the babies in the nests. The level of toxicity is very low for humans and practically none after the nests are processed. That's why is approved for use in kitchens, restaurants and inside homes for bedding etc.
