just updated my firmware this afternoon, took me abt 40 minutes i guess? can't remember. but these are the results... can't say that i'm impressed, but i am please that it is better. that enable 3G toggle has significantly helped me save battery. all i can say is, i did not regret upgrading.



oh btw, i am using a 4S if anyone needs any clarification lol

Actually this toggle really helps when you are running short of battery in tight spot. If you hardworking to toggle constantly, you could save a lot of battery especially when you are idle. Just my 2 cents

It all depends on your usage. If you are hoping for GREAT battery life, you are going to regret it. Slight improvement, yes.

You must be too happy to even forget where is the contacts app located at by default?. Try checking it under "Utilities" folder.

Just off battery percentage and you will feel the battery life got improvement...

wah so many people updated to 5.1 already
but mine always crashed.... showing error unable to update to 5.1

After updating my iPhone 4S to 5.1, I do see an improvement in the battery life:

Previously was from 100 % (at 08 am) to 10 % (at 08 pm). Now improved from 100 % (at 08 am) to 25 % (at 08 pm). That is a relative improvement of 17 % in the battery life. Not too bad I must say.

Some of us still can't download it and we really don't know why

OTA update?

OTA, itunes, everywhere...although i'm using the new itunes. None of the iphones and ipad in my house can update...

Well it all depends. I tried to update with my JB iphone and it didn't work. It shows cannot update etc.

What I did was:
1. Backup
2. Restore or full wipe
3. Update using iTunes
4. Restore data

I downloaded it the day after it was launched. Try other source fromm google?

Similar bind here. I have to try for several times. Now it's done on my ip4 (OTA). But.. I dont see any improvement on the battery life, yet.

Maybe will drain the battery later and see how it goes from there. If it's okay, i ll go for the update on my 4s.

For those who r experiencing difficulty to even find d update and update it subsequently directly frm our babies, I wonder if u all r on 9a firmware, the then latest iOS which we updated thru itune. Those who sucessfully updated, can advice if yours was 9a or d older version?

I'm on ios 5.0. My ipad on 5.01 also cannot download. Even on mbp, also cannot download also restore...

Hi, really noobs on ios5. Please help me understand better on the 'enable 3G' function. Should i let in on or off?, as far what i understand still needed the 'cellular data' on then u can use 3g right?.

hey, the battery significantly improves. i managed to to keep the 100% bar up till 6 hours and 30 minutes after charging then it dropped slowly..like, it's still possible to get more than a day standby time provided:

1) no or little whatsapp (I'm active whatsapp user, dammit, what to do, blame the gf..hahaha)

2) no or little time on FB apps (try to use Safari instead, FB app sucks battery juice like shaite)

3) 3G off (in my case since 3G signal is not stable at my place, i toggled it OFF so EDGE is on all the time)

Just a question guys, if we go to area with strong 3G signal, i noticed that my EDGE sign disappear and i have to reactivate 3G or else my line will become active for voice and txts only,

i thought 3G and EDGE coverage should redundant with each other?
