No! You need to go to KL branch for W prefix...unless you are getting old W plate like for example WYY 8888 then probably you can get it anywhere because it is already being 'booked' by certain people for resell... But registration and what not must be done in KL.

Hello! I am planning to buy a used car. I was just wondering, how can i be sure that the original car owner really did tukar name when i gave him cash? I was worried his tukar name cert is a fake one (yes, i am paranoid). Is there any number/website i can use, like i can just key in my IC number and it will confirm if i have a car under my name? thanks!

No need...i go to jpj becoz i buy car at penang...and my number plat wilayah..so the salesman email me all document...and i register at wilayah...

Since the launch of mysikap system at 1st nov, I heard the seller and buyer need go to jpj themselves.

Yes you need. I was at Puspakom and there's a father and daughter doing internal name transfer among both of them also they are at Puspakom. It's a must for name transfer.

1) I wanna change engine from my friend car to my car. my car and him is Cefiro A31. my engine was RB20 and his engine is RB25. so if there dont have any surat kastam or whatsoever, can endorse or not?

It's a way they implement to protect the second hand buyer and the bank. Previously I think it's a not necessary thing to do but now when I think of it, I think it's a good implementation. Imagine if we were to buy a 2nd hand car and get cheated on the car condition . It's a pretty fast process. Don't worry.

I agree if it's a second hand car but if it's from parents/siblings, do we need such thing?

My main concern is the tint actually. V kool on the car now is close to Rm3k and it's such a waste to remove.
