Good morning ,
Hi , i owning a n55
And i now having difficulties with the laptop
My keyboard keep pressing "3" after i have spilled some drink near the touchpad and keyboard area.
I think that this is because of short circuit at the keyboard area.

So my question is. Should i bring this to the service centre or bring to computer shop near my place. Because im not that alert with the warranty thingy . I hope all sifu can help me with this matter. Thank you for ur time smile.gif

@nuttyking91:

Thanks for the photos. It's clear enough to see so don't worry about the quality of it.

I have a couple of questions though.

1) How do you even begin to open up the speaker/keyboard area? Where is the entry point?

2) Is it possible to sufficiently clean the FAN @ photo #4 (counting from top-bottom), or do we go as far as photo #6?

to gain access to speaker grill & keyboard ONLY, just unscrew the highlighted ones user posted image

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

after that, pry open the speaker grill from both sides(left & right corner) just above the music now shortcut key (left side) & power key (right side). requires some force but do go slow n steady smile.gif it should come off after the small hinge on the side of the speaker grill goes loose. then just remove the keyboard screws(about 5 screws) n you're off...

of cuz if u wanna access to the CPU area means every single screw securing the parts to the chasis must be off... err to answer question 2, it is good enough to clean from photo #4 but u will need a small brush & a tin of compressed air to blow off... but if u wanna 100% clean the fan u have to open all way through photo #6. thats my personal opinion though. anyone have better suggestion can help out as well notworthy.gif thumbup.gif

another example of repasting on laptop. not Asus laptop thou cool2.gif http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-s...-step-step.html

btw i saw this Kingston HyperX 8GB 1866MHz PnP Memory Kit For Notebooks review

seen the great improvement for upgrading, but for the price in malaysia... better off getting SSD brows.gif

cry.gif sad.gif i dun think spillage is covered by warranty. but i think u can enquire & see the solution for this. meanwhile i don't think it's advisable to even start up ur laptop after a spill as it may short circuit more areas??? hmm.gif

^ u shouldn't have format ur laptop lol. IF spillage, what u should do is to wipe off any visible spillage, turn off ur laptop(off completely including the plug), then if u know how to do it u open up the laptop and let the spillage dry(if just plain water, if chocolate/milk then thing can get worse). By the means of drying i mean just dry it under fan just like that. Don put it under hot sun or else it may spoil

I spilled drinks to my previous notebook few times before. The first thing u have to do is to switch off the notebook and let it dry under the fan for few days.Even if u wiped off all the spillage, some liquid might went under the keyboard. It's bad that u actually went and format ur pc instead of drying it.FYI,warranty do not cover harm caused by spilling liquid on it.But u do not hav to tell them when u send ur notebook to the service center tongue.gif

hmmm around that price la bro. Speed ah not really lah but u will notice ur system won't slow down that fast when u are loading alot of programs (more than 10 tabs in mozilla, game program in background n playing hd movies?) usually when a program's command or action is being processed it (cpu) will access the fastest type of memory, which is the cpu cache. If the size is too big/already full, it will then use up the ram, if the ram is exhausted, den the system will access the slowest type of memory, the hard disc. Lol. This is what i understand lah. Anyone can correct me if i'm wrong notworthy.gif

i already tried with hair dryer , but some said that do not use hair dryer, because it will push the liquid more to unreachable places .
and it make my laptop kinda hot too sweat.gif

Asus softwares are real nuisance at times. brows.gif a couple of uninstall n reinstall should do the trick. but for this case, just remove the web storage laugh.gif

What is AsusScr_n5_En actually, it's 200++ MB so big I jut uninstalled coz I afraid this program contributed to the slow boot-up... of course every confirmed bloatwares already uninstalled la

Then there are Instant On, USB Chg + bla bla bla... if I uninstall them will I lose some of the functions?
