I read in some posts last time - forgotten which thread - ppl dun recommend science plan. It's expensive for the "brand" name only and the ingredients are not good. I'm not sure coz if i'm not mistaken, I read it somewhere. Royal Canin is the best but kinda fattening .

Why NutriEdge not good? Do not go on trying dogfood after dogfood.... not that good. Stick to 1 brand that she likes.

NutraGold, you feeding the holistic version or the super premium?

NutraGold holistic is recommended but the super premium is not that interesting....

Chicken (20%), chicken meal, brown rice (20%), oatmeal, corn gluten meal, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), ground corn, beet pulp, egg product, flaxseed, poultry digest, brewers dried yeast, vitamins and minerals.

Those stuff are what we should try to avoid our dogs from taking.... Chicken fat is normally just chicken skin... beet pulp is, well... used as a filler, no nutrition from it. Corn gluten and ground corn... still as filler, no nutritional value and the poultry digest is weird...

poultry digest...i hope it isnt jus a better name for chicken poop....

ohh.. i just did some research....

Chicken digest - A material which results from chemical and/or enzymatic hydrolysis of clean and undecomposed chicken tissue. Chicken digest is a palatability enhancer made by reducing (cooking down) chicken meat and fat into a concentrated liquid or dry product.

i heard from some shops that royal canin is good for cats only but not for dogs.. that's why i never feed my babies with royal canin but innova..

hahaha , junnie ur shih tzu fur so long . i 1st time see shih tzu fur so long and silky wan very beautiful . i can see the innova and fish oil do make ur shih tzu got a nice coat and fur .

Added on March 26, 2007, 11:00 pmif you want to change to innova, can change step by step by mixing royal canin dog food with innova. yes, you can feed bobo with cod liver oil.. he will dislikes the taste the first time you feed him, but once he tried, he'll beg for more

Someone recommend me that Innova Evo much more better. Ingredients :
Turkey, Chicken, Turkey Meal, Chicken Meal, Potatoes, Herring Meal, Chicken Fat Natural Flavors, Egg, Garlic, Apples, Carrots, Tomatoes, Cottage Cheese, Alfalfa Sprouts, Dried Chicory Root.........
but the price is much more expensive.........

Ah.... that is holistic version. Yes, NutraGold is good. Eagle Pack holistic and Innova is also good, Innova Evo is quite natural but pricy. Of course it must suit your dog. For my CKCS, she cannot take any other food other than California Natural. Other food makes her fur drop.... Nutro makes her go botak and itchy LOL.... Innova Evo and Eagle Pack Gold made her shed a lot.... so it is still up to you. Must get a brand that suits your dog's health.

i know california and innova and eagle pack better, but of course pricy lah.....
oh....nutragold is good, but i search internet, this brand not so famous.....even blackwood is more popular than nutragold.
I thought Blackwood is good, but from the ingredients, not so impressive, only poultry meal, not meat, and got corns also, but the price is cheaper than nutragold.
So blackwood ok ah?? mayb will try blackwood after she finish this nutragold and compare the results, coz nutragold not available in many pet shops.

Yah, nutragold is rare... Blackwood is more famous coz it has been in the market for quite some time. Years ago, dogs only had Super Premium dogfoods to choose from the Premium and Commercial... but now Holistic is better for dogs so California Natural, Pinnacle, Innova and Eagle Pack are getting popular. NutraGold is new so not many would know.

The best is to always follow the ingredients. A meat product followed by a meal product is ok.... but if its followed by say by-product and or the whole ingredients has corn and no natural meat products then it is not so good.

Also, holistic makes dogs leaner and slimmer. My lab was on a Super Premium diet which had some corn in it till we changed to 100% California Natural for all my dogs, she became slimmer loh. Really nice now. My CKCS got shinnier fur and less shedding. She was on NutriEdge before and the food made her bulkier since she was a bit thin.

oh nutriedge is fattening....luckily the 1kg pack almost finish, now gradually switching to Nutragold.
Meaning meat product and meal product should be the main ingredients of the kibbles. So blackwood also not so recommended, coz the main is meal, followed by rice and corn........ rite??

although din own a puppy (yet), but i thought many claimed that Blackwood is very good......
