is it necessary to change to default router to mikrotik/asus router? will it improve the stability of the connection?

the reason i asked is i am having problem when i play my ps3 online, COD:MW3 to be exact. i can connect to a friend's party but always dc-ed from the party when we were in public lobbies. have no problems with private party tho'.

i've set DMZ to my PS3 and I still get NAT Type 2. From what I understand, if you have router, you will always get NAT Type 2. You can't get NAT Type 1 unless you connect directly to the modem. i hope i understand it correctly.

i've ran speedtest on both unifi site and speedtest.net, all seems ok 4.XXMbps UL/DL but on PS3 i will get 4.XXMbps DL and 2.XXMbps UL.

i've been suggested to get the mikrotik, but the thing is, i can't figure out the cause of my problem. getting the mikrotik is not a problem, as long as i know what causing it. this problem occurred since last week, before that, i have no problem or whatsoever. maybe it caused by the game server?

1. Yes i had the same problem. nothing to do with the time of the day. Its caused by your dlink router hanging after being on for so long. Last time i dl torrent/ddl with max speed the whole day, and by midnight or so the speed drastically drops. You can reset both the black btu and dlink router you should get back your speed.

2. Yes. dir-615 is a crappy router

Klseet's website has great alternatives. Im using tplink wr841n currently. I can leave my modem on for days without any drop in speed

Tplink:

Complete list:

i got question

1. iptv use dir615. can iptv use tplink?
2. my house is apartment, so have to use vdsl2 rather than fthh/btu. is unifi stock vdsl2 have problem lately as problematic as dir615?
3. can vdsl2 pair with tplink rather than dir615?

sorry, totally noob. my primary objective is to have iptv. phone & internet are secondary. my house never subscribe astro since launch sweat.gif

Hi guys sorry if this question is old. I have subscribed to UniFi and have arranged for appointment in 2 weeks time. At the moment I have no TV, and when I asked the customer service TM said it's ok if I don't have a TV for the installation, but this thread first page says you need a TV and 4 point extension. Is it ok if I don't have a TV when they come and install the UniFi at my place? It's a condo.

Thanks.

What if I don't want IPTV? Meaning I just want internet access and telephone line for now, and let's say I don't want IPTV at all but I'm aware that it's included in the package. Is it ok if I skip the IPTV part?

want to share very useful information. pls ignore/delete my reply if this have been type in here

do you experience your btu/vdsl2 and dir615 router become very hot when using for quite long time? many of us including me of course worried that all equiptment will be damaged/spoilt caused of overheating issue

but that can be solved. if you look closely to tm unifi dir615 router, there's usb hole. this usb if im not mistaken used for shared printer (pls correct if im wrong). actualy, there's other use
- go to any pc shop, by laptop cooler. any model and cheap will do
- use laptop cooler's usb to connect to dir615's usb port. cooler fan will on itself
- place your btu/vdsl2 and dir615 on top of the cooler

note : dunno for other router but as long it have usb port, should have no problem to counter overheating issue

thanks. credit to vivr3.com

I'm using it for printer sharing. I got it cooled by nature xD My router/modem all on tiled floor. No problem to dissipate heat generated.

mine is not that fast... my previous streamyx faster than my current unifi sad.gif

21ms (streamyx) vs 50ms (unifi) <-- so lol
