1. Yes i had the same problem. nothing to do with the time of the day. Its caused by your dlink router hanging after being on for so long. Last time i dl torrent/ddl with max speed the whole day, and by midnight or so the speed drastically drops. You can reset both the black btu and dlink router you should get back your speed.

2. Yes. dir-615 is a crappy router

Klseet's website has great alternatives. Im using tplink wr841n currently. I can leave my modem on for days without any drop in speed

Tplink:
http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...e&id=7&Itemid=6

Complete list:
http://klseet.com/index.php?option=com_con...id=42&Itemid=39
*
i got question

1. iptv use dir615. can iptv use tplink?
2. my house is apartment, so have to use vdsl2 rather than fthh/btu. is unifi stock vdsl2 have problem lately as problematic as dir615?
3. can vdsl2 pair with tplink rather than dir615?

sorry, totally noob. my primary objective is to have iptv. phone & internet are secondary. my house never subscribe astro since launch sweat.gif

want to share very useful information. pls ignore/delete my reply if this have been type in here

do you experience your btu/vdsl2 and dir615 router become very hot when using for quite long time? many of us including me of course worried that all equiptment will be damaged/spoilt caused of overheating issue

but that can be solved. if you look closely to tm unifi dir615 router, there's usb hole. this usb if im not mistaken used for shared printer (pls correct if im wrong). actualy, there's other use
- go to any pc shop, by laptop cooler. any model and cheap will do
- use laptop cooler's usb to connect to dir615's usb port. cooler fan will on itself
- place your btu/vdsl2 and dir615 on top of the cooler

note : dunno for other router but as long it have usb port, should have no problem to counter overheating issue

thanks. credit to vivr3.com

what u heard abt tmnet stock router? what happen majority?overheat? haha too many post to look back le...
*
most user says stock router dir615 are cheap & crap. earlier usage ok la but then after a period of time, speed become less, wifi signal not strong, easily kong etc. tm ppl can replace faulty dir615 but still happen as they replace the exact same model. that's why ppl like klseet & rizvan do r n d and give us alternative to buy router other than stock model that can be used for unifi customer, which is better than stock

even im afraid that when they come to install unifi at my house this saturday, i have to prepare some $$$ to buy a backup alternatif router

correct me if im wrong

hahaha

this is 2nd night using unifi vip5, installed on yesterday saturday morning. here's some experience with tm ppl to share

i set appointment with tm contractor 9am saturday. and they came almost eleven. i asked why late. tm said they set for one of customer on block h (me on e), so in sri anggerik 2, there's 2 appointment. well it's fine as i understand their job. the they set a fibre wire....... wait a minute. fibre wire? why need fibre wire as my house is high rise type 5 storey walk-in. i though high-rise use normal copper with vdsl2 modem. when i ask, tm says vdsl2 mainly for highrise like 5 storey and above (those high-rise-tower-like condo and apartments). ooohhh... i see. and since fibre cable has been installed in my yard, they can pull out fibre wire easily into my house located on 1st floor (my neighbour on grd floor, so im in 1st flr, or "tingkat 2"). i feel strange and unusual, a fibre wire directly wired up into my apartment... shakehead.gif

ok then, they make mod on phone line box, connect to fdp box with fibre wire, pull into 1st flr's phone line box easy as that. then they make minor drill to put in a white box with small hazard sign on top of my house door. there are 4 tm contractor working on the setup. make wiring, setup all 4 equipment, which is mine will be using btu instead vdsl2. when all done, sign the form, give id, pswd, wifi pswd and boxes. on the spot it can be use. test stb, phone, wifi all ok and ready to serve rclxms.gif

the speed so fast, almost reach 5mb dload, 4mb upload. i have dload some files and im happy with it. before this, 200mb files takes 1hour ++ and previous also sucks (w***x). with vip5, it takes 5 minit. mostly i download from file hosting website. this morning, i try to dload using torret to get one of avi movies 700mb and cost me 20 minit ++. wow, never expect this fast

with my wife happy with stb, which is giving all clear channel than our crappy indoor antenna. she like some channel too. universal channel, warner tv, dw+, bbc and more. she mostly like tvN, a korean channel with english narattor. unlike kbs which is showing drama (and somethimes repeated episod too.... korean fans, pls konfirm this. sorry), it doesnt have any drama. they have news, reality show and music video. korean drama? nehhhh. my wife got other source to get which is cheaper and the latest. sorry. top secret cool2.gif
oh. by the way, we got all full channel with 4 vod for 30 days

so far so good. all equiptment working. but not so fast. i'll see what happened after 1 month. too early to celebrate man. will see...

for this night speedtest.net drool.gif

5 storey consider "low" rise  laugh.gif
It's possible that ur condo is old and doesn't come with VDSL and so, FTTH will be better than VDSL since they won't need to build a VDSL system which should be more costly and not cost effective
i see. thank for info. i didnt know that

so far still ok for 3 day usage. what that i notice is that if dload from file hosting website (mediafire, hotfile, fileserve), its a bit slow, like 300mb take almost 1 hour. but when i use torrent (never use before but installed anyway), 2.7gb take 1 hour

i guess those file hosting website depends on its server... hmmm

those HyppTV Premium channel viewable for 1 month only.

After 1month disable unless u subscribe via online.
yup, inclusive of telephone line.
yeah. i know that. 1 month free premium channel loor. after this no more
enuff what 14 free channel? what for i must have sport channel, movie, drama, cartoon, music, premiere...
i only watch 2, buletin utama & smackdown. my wife only watch news & vampire diaries. my kids watch tv9 daily 2pm to 6pm. no need to give them those nick jr, cbebbies. if from astro, i wont let them watch cn, nick, disney. on air 24/7 dude. they would not come out and play at playground or go reading books when watching cartoon. not good for health blink.gif

btw, just wanna have clearer channel on my tv set rather than use cheappo antenna previously (very annoying too. when change channel, antenna need to change direction shakehead.gif ). internet & phone definitely used always nod.gif

this night speed. aiseh

hi there,
almost a week im using unifi. and i spotted something that feel a bit unconvinience

this happen twice in this week. my pc which using wifi adaptor sometimes recognize my router as unnamed conection. the actual would be like *****@unifi. try to connect unnamed connection but failed. so i restart (not refresh by push a button at the side of dir615). power off, wait for 1 minit then turn on. and there you go, wifi connected with proper name ****@unifi. i think dir615 not so good delivering signals

anyone exp this matter?
should i change router to better one (like tplink)?

Pandan Perdana. I know I was informed that my area only available ob April '12. But this is quite fast for data gathering?
*
hahaha. same case like me. my place should be on araound that month too, but tm sms me said go for installation. and im UNIFIED already 1 week nod.gif

i guess it depend on demand. the more ppl register unifi, tm will speed up the process... tanam kabel, pasang ftp etc.... like my place have more than 10 ppl register in my small portion area (as inform by tm tech guy when they visit my house earlier)

TM just called me again...ask me if im interested to apply Unifi ... I told them yes yes they promised to send me a confirmation email in 24 hours and set appointment within next week... They told me that phone application do not require us to send IC to them as they already got our records in their system. They will record the conversation as "agreement" to applying unifi.

They told me that the free 1 month viewing of premium channel is until end of this month, not available anymore in January. is that true?
*
totally true. im unified 3 weeks already. my hypptv got all premium channel right now. and of course, next month only free channel got. im definietely wanna subscribe several channel like bbc knowledge & tvN

guys, got 2 thing to ask

1. i got this software called Ares, a P2P sharing software. since i'm UNIFIed, i cannot search any video / audio / images / software file. like something blocked it. but if using torrent, it very easy to get what i want. anyone exp on this? shakehead.gif

2. my wife's friend has been UNIFIed. then there's a scenario happened to her as my wife chat with me :
when she on all UNIFI equiptment, she accidentally overheard from her neighbour next to her house. this neighbour is small family with 1 kid, mention to his wife that he can connected to Wifi, play facebook and angry bird online. she feel curious about it and she turn off all equipment. then she overheard again from his neighbour. "ala. wifi dah hilang signal".
as far as i know, every UNIFI wifi have its own password to acces. but this kind of case are strange one. i suspect that when technician install the equipement, there's no password has being setup for her wifi as that time, she does not have laptop. now her wifi is like "open wifi". anyone can use without pswd. For me, this is considered violation on her UNIFI property. I've talk to my wife to advise to her to call UNIFI guys to set up wifi pswd so that she and her family only can use her own. no one else as it will effect cap. vmad.gif
waht do u guys think? better get help from technician or she can do on its own e.g. get into wifi router setting, change pswd? fyi, she is IT blinded. unsure.gif
