Could be due to keyboard also. For example while I can reach 110WPM on my mechanical keyboard, I can only go around 85WPM on my laptop's keyboard. My Logitech membrane keyboard also about 85-90WPM only.

But learning touch typing is definitely good to improve your WPM. It took me several weeks to get used to it, but definitely worth it.


You want faster? Got a keyboard, courtroom person use to record one, I dunno what is it called. You need special training in order to be qualified.

if she/he's on QWERTY layout, wow.

There is no normal keyboard layout, only got the qwerty or dvorak or some others, then it comes the US ASCII, EURO, JAPANESE, CHINESE and etc....
If she manages it using Qwerty, then she is pure awesome....
but the guinness world record holder (also a woman, forgot her name, can check in wiki) manages to type 150 words per minute for 50 minutes.... that is INSANE........
