QUOTE(jinhan108 @ Nov 18 2011, 05:17 PM) I chose flat rate box shipping, they are normally faster than normal airmail, if that was the method that you chose. We should've combined shipping |

Hm, guys can recommend me a mechanical keyboard with an affordable price?
Also, do you guys think it is a good investment after buying it? I usually play games like dota, tf2, skyrim, bf3/codmw3 occasionally. Thanks! |

QUOTE(vincent5195 @ Nov 18 2011, 09:21 PM) I see people spending RM4xx.My budget lower than that as I'm still a student. Maybe 1xx/2xx? I just wanna test the water, and invest in a good one in a year + when I build my own PC. Or is it recommended to just invest in a good one now? Any signs of a decrease in price for mechanical keyboards? |

But for the sake of modability(keycaps, keystems), Cherry MX switch is the more popular thus better choice. |

QUOTE(markypcs @ Nov 18 2011, 09:28 PM) I see people spending RM4xx. I suggest you get 3xx+ keyboard, and then don't come back to this thread, EVERMy budget lower than that as I'm still a student. Maybe 1xx/2xx? I just wanna test the water, and invest in a good one in a year + when I build my own PC. Or is it recommended to just invest in a good one now? Any signs of a decrease in price for mechanical keyboards? But before that, check out Cyclone's Novelty Keycap group buy, buy some awesome faces. Keyboards are not graphic cards, you don't buy one now, then it halves in price in roughly a year with a the release of a new generation mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Rainbow switches. Also, they don't behave like graphics cards where the more expensive you buy, you get better frame rates/higher response time/no lagging/no stuttering. Pressing an A key 10 times on a perfectly working RM5 or a RM500 keyboard will result in 10 As showing up on your monitor all the friggin time. There is no such thing as a keyboard suited for gaming/competitive gamer/occasional gamer/hardcore gamer/casual gamer/gamer aiming to be champion/chapalang gamer/diehard gamer/SC/skyrim/bf3/bf4/bf5/bf6/bf7 etc, though, if you need a keyboard to also serve as an anti robbery system, I recommend the FILCO, or the IBM Model M if you want to feel safer This post has been edited by kaiserreich: Nov 18 2011, 10:43 PM |

Hope this wasn't a repost, a good sums up of what is a mechanical keyboard, in chiense tho. So to stalkers out there who are reading this thread for whole time and never bother replying here, watch the video and see why its so expensive, and you will find out every single cents you spend on a mechanical keyboard is well worth paid compare to overpriced "gaming" keyboard out there. |

QUOTE(Human10 @ Nov 19 2011, 02:48 AM) i'm quite butthurt in the moment when he said that.Rockwell Hardness Scale. Polybutylene Terephthalate - PBT = M88 Polyoxymethylene (Acetal) - POM = M75 But this cannot be confirm, as multiple site given info are not the same. http://www.makeitfrom.com/compare/?left=PBT&right=POM some said, POM are harder than PBT, and some said it's other way around. Taken From Another Site Regarding to Material Information : Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « PBT » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « POM » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Some explain POM are hardest, but it's weak against impact and abrasion resistance compare to PBT, So.. i take this as a win for PBT ? hence, i don't even know the materials that it used to creating these plastic. formula affects it the quality/stiffness/hardness? hmmm... QUOTE(lucidlts @ Nov 19 2011, 08:45 AM) well, he didn't mention clear switch. if you're able to understand the guy that's talking chinese in video. you'll notice that he mention about keycap printing method, and he did mention doubleshot injection, but didn't explain them, he's only explain first 3, which is pad printed(plus UV Coat pad printed), laser etch(plus Laser etch infill), Dye Sub. |

At least the video is pretty much summed up for end user before they purchase a mechanical keyboard, keycaps or what is made of it is just a bonus, which not every end user cares about.
