Whoever eyeing on Rapoo V7 b4(yeah, the board with fake cherry yellow switch), here is something similar but possible to be interested.
http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=139035...777270230&prc=2 ![]() The whole board using fake cherry(red) except the WASD, using real Cherry Black.... Good for those ppl with vintage board which only harvest keycaps. I assume it is possible to be fully modded into Cherry board. Count the price of 2nd hand switch, the fully cherry modded board will only be costing around 350RMB, which is consider really a bargain for the PBT keycaps(and possibly hardware level programability). Even for those who are completely don't know how to mod, it is also consider a cheap price. The fake cherry switch should not be too awful to be pressed too judging from the semi success fake cherry yellow(except stem durability maybe, LOL). QUOTE(lucidlts @ Jan 6 2012, 01:44 AM) still, i rather go for KBC PBT caps which cost lesser than this. not wanting fake switches in my collection Good for those with spare switches and time left.2nd hand cherry switch is pretty cheap. Though, i suggest better take cherry black(and deep clean it) as black switch is linear and there is basicly nothing to be worn out. |

The board is indeed solid. http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:25768 The only drawback I found so far is the ghosting(when press over 6keys under USB), unknown compatibility with other OS(dono, haven try), lack-desired wire drain design and the utmost dealbreaker - KEYS OFFSET. QUOTE(CyntrixTech @ Jan 7 2012, 04:58 PM) Time to O ring mod it Because brown is the safest bet.Certain ppl don't really know whether they are wanting tactile or linear switch. Also, the blue switch is also not the taste for all ppl. Thus, brown is the safest bet, at least know that it is better than rubber dome(most ppl agree with this but IMO, brown really sucks too). I just tried RED few days ago and indeed it is really nice to type on(and like others claimed, you don't really know when to stop the switch). Though IMO, RED can really be claimed as the safest bet of at least feel better than on rubber-dome. If unsure on when to stop, simply press far enough and try practice not to bottom out(cause it will be loud and the force acting back on your finger will be great till you tire soon). QUOTE(0204 @ Jan 8 2012, 07:01 AM) so whats ur suggestion? i mean in case i really spill water on it.. does it die straightaway? can i unplug and hope for it to not short circuit? obviously should keep the water away but what if it does happens.. Of course you need to unplug in the very first moment water spilled into your keyboard. The next thing is to disassemble the keyboard(will void warranty) to see how damaged it is and doing the drying and cleaning jobs. If only pure and clean water, quickly off the any water you can see and let the affected switch to dry(desolder and disassemble them can be faster and better). If any other drinks particularly those sticky one, may need to consider whole keyboard deep cleaning, including the PCB, switches and casing. Torn them down into whatever possible part for a throughout cleaning and easier for dying. Lastly, make sure all components are completely dried b4 reassemble them together. You don't want the PCB to gone short circuit or the water stuck inside the switches rusting your spring... But the easiest step after all, clean off the spillage you can see and send them to warranty acting like the case you don't know what happened... QUOTE(lucidlts @ Jan 8 2012, 01:22 PM) that's an exception la Normal to be found on those luckily i always drink using a bottle. i saw a photo of a layer of rubber membrane that covers up to the switch itself, which were meant to protect cherry keyboards from spill. wonder how effect will it be? BTW, those membrane will make the Cherry Black too stiff to be used. IIRC, someone proved that the actuating force of Cherry Black with such membrane is over 100g... I rather use those silicon keyboard protector normally used on laptop keyboard, can dampen the sound and help prevent bottom up easily too. The brutal courier make the board ended up like that(broken keycaps and PCB). The buyer referred back to the TS and TS promise resend another new board to him(and the buyer send the broken one back to TS). In the end, the TS(quite a famous modder in that forum) chosen to mod/revive the keyboard with jumper wire and sponsor it as a gift in the forum(currently there is a keyboard promotion petition being carried on in the forum). Just found out that SS7G, Leopold, Zowie, Noppoo Choc Pro PBT, Keycool and KBC PBT spacebar are all the "nonstandard" one.
Now they no longer the loner with nonstandard spacebar, instead FILCO and Ducky become the loner(cause they are the minority(by number of brands)), LOL.... This post has been edited by Human10: Jan 8 2012, 07:01 PM |

QUOTE(lucidlts @ Jan 8 2012, 11:10 PM) not sure, but usually what i can see on the packaging are 顺丰,圆通 these two. Heard that X通(not sure if 圆通) sucks and brutal...as for the spacebar, noppoo spacebar doesnt fits on 7G or PLU or Leopold or PLUM BTW, even the noppoo choc pro also can't fit? The one I saw in china forum is noppoo choc pro pbt, seems like able to fit. Added on January 9, 2012, 12:51 am QUOTE(kaiserreich @ Jan 9 2012, 01:22 AM) New white PBT noppoo spacebar should have all the key stems in the world. My experience is quite sucks with ABX...Shipping within China As to shipping within China, since most agents are Guangzhou based, in normal situations, most courier services are alright. More common are 圆通 and 申通。I previously was sent a package from a less known courier company, posted in the morning, arrived in the afternoon. For non Guangzhou Shipments, most courier services will take 2-3 days, Sunday included. Seems they don't have rest days. For 顺丰,most of the time you can get it in 1-2days, but they cost quite a lot more than normal services. China to Malaysia As to shipping from China to Malaysia via air, there are a few courier services, but I share the experience I have. For cuckoo express/DPEX, they used to take a while, about 2 working days from Guangzhou to reach kastam, but recently it has shorten to 1 working day. In terms of shipping inside Klang Valley is concerned, both are good. But for non klang valley, ABX really did a good job recently. The item reached me the day after it was released from kastam. For Skynet, usually an extra working day is needed. The good reached on the night of 3.1.12 after 2.1.12(a holiday). I tracked the next day morning, the parcel reached PJ(I am at Serdang). I wait and wait for the whole day but nothing changed till the midnite. On the next day, I checked again in the morning. The status is out for delivery. That make me quite excited and wait at home. By the afternoon, I lost my patient and decided to email the customer service. It took me around 1-2hours(acceptable cause I email them around lunch time) to confirm that my parcel will only reach by afternoon. I then patiently wait for another 1-2 hours This post has been edited by Human10: Jan 9 2012, 12:51 AM |

Not sure if anyone here care but according to Cherry themselves, Cherry 3494(MX RED board) seems to be "trolled" by Cherry.
They put black spring in modifier keys and clear spring in spacebar, yet maintaining the RED stem. http://www.cherry.cn/products/G80-3494LYCUS-0.html(near bottom of the site) May be this is the marketing style for a famous OEM? This post has been edited by Human10: Jan 9 2012, 02:13 AM |

QUOTE(rurushu @ Jan 9 2012, 03:12 PM) Neutral I would say, not like we or they gain/loss anything. Just extra bit of surprise... QUOTE(lucidlts @ Jan 9 2012, 03:22 PM) did u ever notice that space bar on black switch is lighter than other keys on the same board? because of the stabilizer. Cause space bar is much larger and heavier than normal keys, thus using same switch(and spring) will make them feel overlight compared to others.they changed the spring to maintain the same force required to actuate the switch. just my 5 cent However, what being done so far by Cherry and Ducky especially is just swapping the switch to a stiffer one, not like what they did this time, swap the spring instead of whole switch. Added on January 9, 2012, 5:28 pm QUOTE(Squarebox @ Jan 9 2012, 03:54 PM) My G80-3494 feels uniform if it wasn't I would have commend it like Topre variables. Then it may be they are bs/cheating us or they had perfectly obtained the balance between extra weight of keycaps and stiffness in spring(kind of tough I would suggest as their spring only 45g(red/brown/blue), 55g(black) and 65g(clear).I thinking whether to buy and try a uniform 45g Topre but they are expensive just to try... QUOTE(kEazYc @ Jan 10 2012, 11:41 AM) The keycaps are PBT built, i believe its matte surface, which makes the legends looks bit blurry. Should be able to fit on Leopold. The new PBT spacebar is universal enough for most brand including SS7G, Filco, Ducky, Cherry, Noppoo(both Choc Pro and Mini), Zowie, Leopold and many more(except Razer BW).Btw, does the keycaps works on Leopold's keyboard? I scare later the spacebar doesn't fit BTW, why would you like to change the keycaps if the main selling point on new Leopold is it's own unique+thick PBT? Added on January 10, 2012, 3:42 pm QUOTE(kEazYc @ Jan 10 2012, 03:00 PM) You don't like grey? White don't really look outstanding over other white keyboards we saw. Grey on the other hand giving a sophisticated look like HHKB(though not so alike...)The KBC PBT will look better on a grey casing IMO. And the original grey keycaps will look better in both black/white casing... TROLOLOL...
