Appreciate if you girls could shed a light and share with all the girls include me.

I am 26, but still having menstrual period pain every month, merely at the first day. It's decreasing my productivity at work. I could have finished more tasks or stay late at night if I don't have this problem. sweat.gif Sometimes, I really can't focus at work. (uterus cramped even I can't walk properly/sit still in the meeting/take time-off/go back early) doh.gif

1) I heard of Evening Primrose Oil, never take.
2) I take Bak Fong Pills after my period. It does not work on me. cry.gif
3) I drink a bit of DOM. It does not work. doh.gif
4) I drink cold drink only once a while and avoid during period time. Again, it does not help much. sweat.gif
5) I exercise when I am in mood/I realise I am fat. biggrin.gif
6) I don't take painkiller like Panadol pink pill as I am susceptible of the effect.

I am wondering, is it imperative? I heard from friends that it will gone either when:

1) I got married. shakehead.gif or
2) I deliver baby. sweat.gif

Thanks for your time. smile.gif

Your poll too many choices. Not easy to choose.

Basically my period cramps are on the first day, after that I can be up and running already.
I take painkillers - either the Panadol ones or Ponstan (which is a stronger type of painkiller). Then I'll have to rest in bed and sleep till I feel better. But sometimes there's no pain at all, only slight cramps which doesn't affect me.

It's only one day so give yourself a break and do your work the next day. smile.gif

Try stopping cold drinks once and for all, I know of friends who do this and say that it works for them. They also convince themselves that cold drinks are not good for health in the long run. But I don't have that determination and still love cold drinks so I can't do that. tongue.gif

Exercise you'll have to be constantly doing it. And from what I heard, it's your stomach muscles you have to exercise.

My sister is 40+ and has not given birth, she still get period cramps each time she has her period.

Added on October 31, 2011, 11:01 amOh and I've been eating evening primrose oil for the past 2 months or so, and my menses this month had no period cramps and it was pretty short.

I've tried Bak Fong Pill (which my mum's friend claims that it's so good and all) but it didn't work for me as well.

I don't know honestly. I've just started taking it a few months back and didn't get my period cramps this month. Could be coincidental or not, I'm not sure. Have to see the new few months whether still got cramps or not. Actually if I didn't come across this thread, I wouldn't remember this link as well. tongue.gif My first reason to take evening primrose was because of better skin. Lol.

Don't really know. Didn't research much on that cause I still like cold drinks.
From what my friend told me (the one who stop cold drinks and desserts completely), she say its bad for our uterus health or something.

But from experience, drinking cold drinks the day before or on the 1st day of menses will definitely make my cramps even more painful.
I have an aunty who told me to avoid curry and chilli stuff too. But I'm not a big fan of curries so I didn't really bother.

lol max, it's a myth that apparently works for a lot of women, even myself. what I've found, for myself at least, is that cold drinks causes cramps to be more severe, but my periods are shorter, probably because the more severe the cramps, the more blood gets pushed out? I don't know LOL!

yeah, avoiding spicy stuff is also recommended.

OP,
I only take panadol painkillers if I have something important that day, like an exam. otherwise, try making ginger soup. It warms the body and makes it better smile.gif Love it when mom makes me some after I complain about bad cramps ... soothes it so very well

i thought the cramps is caused by the thickening of the blood and it go stuck and could flow smoothly which causes the cramp?

usually when i tk cold drink it will results in thickening of the blood, sometime in clog/ pieces...

For myself, chocolate seems to help with the cramps. I like dark chocolate or drink hot cocoa. I find them very soothing and warm drinks warm up the belly and the cramps lessen.

Another thing is to have the bf put his warm hands on my lower tummy and just softly rub.... best remedy ever... helps with bonding as well. tongue.gif

Hot chocolate. Sounds like i could ask my gf to try it out.
I used to put warm towels on her tummy last time and i think it did help lessen the cramps too.

This works for me as well. Sometimes just giving a call to the bf and listening to his voice helps a little if he's unable to be physically there. laugh.gif

I used to use hot pad to lessen the cramps as well. But sometimes too lazy to do it.

Will try ginger soup next time!

i've tried Chinese medication and it works. those herbs are imported.first time i consumed it, my cramp is totally gone. however I stop taking it due to financial issue. its quite expensive but later when I start working I'll definitely consume it until healed.(you need to consume it until fully recover. i dunno how long, guess it depends on the patient)

Hot water bottles/ or bag eases alot of the cramp pain. Bought it from Nicci, comes with a soft fur bag that contains the bottle. Will try the ginger soup. But er...the soup is supposed to be sweet or salty?

Sweet will be like those tong yuen? Salty will be like salted vege soup?

cramping is not caused by blood clogging up the passage. cramping is caused by your uterus contracting. Think of it as mini mini labor.

i will try to avoid curry and chilli stuff cry.gif i like spicy food, but for my stomach health (i have history of gastric), i have reduced extensively the intake of spicy foods since few years ago after i start working.
