Your poll too many choices. Not easy to choose.

Basically my period cramps are on the first day, after that I can be up and running already.
I take painkillers - either the Panadol ones or Ponstan (which is a stronger type of painkiller). Then I'll have to rest in bed and sleep till I feel better. But sometimes there's no pain at all, only slight cramps which doesn't affect me.

It's only one day so give yourself a break and do your work the next day. smile.gif

Try stopping cold drinks once and for all, I know of friends who do this and say that it works for them. They also convince themselves that cold drinks are not good for health in the long run. But I don't have that determination and still love cold drinks so I can't do that. tongue.gif

Exercise you'll have to be constantly doing it. And from what I heard, it's your stomach muscles you have to exercise.

My sister is 40+ and has not given birth, she still get period cramps each time she has her period.

Added on October 31, 2011, 11:01 amOh and I've been eating evening primrose oil for the past 2 months or so, and my menses this month had no period cramps and it was pretty short.

I've tried Bak Fong Pill (which my mum's friend claims that it's so good and all) but it didn't work for me as well.

wow i have the exactly same situation with you....does evening primrose reli works?
*
I don't know honestly. I've just started taking it a few months back and didn't get my period cramps this month. Could be coincidental or not, I'm not sure. Have to see the new few months whether still got cramps or not. Actually if I didn't come across this thread, I wouldn't remember this link as well. tongue.gif My first reason to take evening primrose was because of better skin. Lol.

May i know whats the logic that cold drinks bring more stomach cramps?
Isn't that a myth?
*
Don't really know. Didn't research much on that cause I still like cold drinks.
From what my friend told me (the one who stop cold drinks and desserts completely), she say its bad for our uterus health or something.

But from experience, drinking cold drinks the day before or on the 1st day of menses will definitely make my cramps even more painful.
I have an aunty who told me to avoid curry and chilli stuff too. But I'm not a big fan of curries so I didn't really bother.

For myself, chocolate seems to help with the cramps. I like dark chocolate or drink hot cocoa. I find them very soothing and warm drinks warm up the belly and the cramps lessen.

Another thing is to have the bf put his warm hands on my lower tummy and just softly rub.... best remedy ever... helps with bonding as well. tongue.gif

This works for me as well. Sometimes just giving a call to the bf and listening to his voice helps a little if he's unable to be physically there. laugh.gif

I used to use hot pad to lessen the cramps as well. But sometimes too lazy to do it.

Will try ginger soup next time!

erm sure got side effect but dont take it oftenly
if it really hurts.. then u can take it.. if the yellow pill, take 1/2.. 1 pill is too strong..
i usually take 1/2 yellow pill n the pain really gone in awhile.. then put some oil on ur lil tummy smile.gif try it..
the side effect if u depends on it too much is.. next time u r in pain ponstan wont be able to relieve the pain u nid to consult doc for another powerful medicine~  rclxub.gif

Yes, ponstan is like that. Last time I only took one yellow and blue pill, then it was 2 yellow and blue pill. Now I take one orange pill.
It's also better to take it once you feel the pain is about to come, because once the pain has strike, it'll take some time for it to work. Doctor told me this. smile.gif

i will only experience period cramp on the 1st day (thank goodness). tongue.gif.
i take painkillers i.e. pontsan, panadol menstrual pills to alleviate the pain.

p.s. i have asked a few GPs and all they told me was to take painkillers to reduce the pain.. sweat.gif
*
That's because GP way of doing things are prescribing pills and medicine.
Most of the other methods of reducing pain are more based on cultural beliefs and traditional herbs which GPs are most likely not going to recommend. smile.gif

Yup, my discharge stopped, no smell, lubrication is more controlled during coitus, no cramps, period blood does not have foul smell, more accurate timing on periods and my vagina walls tightens up. Jamu is made purely from herbs, beware though, some jamu has added stuff like steroids and stuff. So after consuming you will feel more energetic. Get Jamu that have been approved by our health ministry to be save. Like for me, I'm taking Jamu Ratu Dara (JRD). Thanx
*
I see. So it's a kind of herb. How do you take it? Is it in powder form, mix with water? Or boil or something?
Where can I get this JRD that you are taking and how often do you take it?
