I'm using Clean 'N Easy brand. RM20 per bag (10L). It's clumping litter. Very good in controlling the smell. Clump very good too.
I also use Paw Mark brand, it's pine wood litter. RM28 per bag (9kg). Use by four of my cats. Very economical. A bag can last for 2 - 3 months. It can control the smell very well too but not as good as clumping litter. Preferably put the litter box in the bathroom. Much easier/convenient to flush the poop. |

QUOTE(tomato123 @ Jul 10 2013, 11:39 AM) hi, Most clumping litters are not flushable because they will clog your toilet. There are flushable clumping litter, for example this one. However, as far as I know, it required large amount of water to dissolves. I use both clumping & pine wood litters. Clumping litter for my indoor cats & pine wood litter for my outdoor cats. When I said outdoor cats, I means the ones that clever enough to climb in into the garage through the ceiling. They like to take a nap in there, especially at night & poop/pee in there too. Using clumping litter for them will not economical, so I switched to pine wood which last four times longer than clumping litter. Can anyone recommend which type of litter is flushable, clumping, and good to cover smell? am using Catsan clumping, but the shop said sand is not flushable, also the smell cannot really cover. tried wood pellets, but the kittens don't like it as they cannot dig like how they do it with sand. so, i am mixing both now. to my convenience, looking for flushable and cats like the feel of it Thanks! Training cat to use non-sand type litter will be difficult, depends on the cat too. Mixing both sand & wood litter are not good idea because it will prevent the sand litter from clumping properly. You will need to throw the whole thing in the litter box & replace with fresh litter. Pine wood or any wood litter, required different litter box like this one. When trying to train them to use pine wood litter, in addition to the clumping litter, I put another litter box with pine wood litter in it. It takes a couple of days before one of the cat pee in the pine wood litter box. After a week, it's obvious cats will always want to use sand type litter. So, what I did is removed the clumping litter box & leave only pine wood litter box. On the next day, I see that some of the cats pee & poop in it but some of the cats still not comfortable using it, pee & poop outside the litter box. It take a while, a couple of weeks if not mistaken before they all pee & poop in the pine wood litter box. Sometime, rarely, some of the cats relapse & pee outside the box. So far they didn't poop outside the box. Currently I have three pine wood litter box for four outdoor cats. So far I have no success in training my indoor cats to use pine wood litter. Mostly because lack of time for me to monitor & train them. I have one pine wood litter box inside the house & sometime one of the cat will pee in it. Basically, it will need a lot of patience & time to train them. Initially, they will poop & pee outside the box. It's normal. This post has been edited by kizwan: Jul 10 2013, 04:26 PM |

QUOTE(llssping @ Jul 11 2013, 11:19 PM) Hi all cat lovers, If I were you, I would prepare a nice place for the kittens & their mother. Put a towel so that they can sleep on it. A box with one side cut out would be nice too. Also a bowl of drinking water. If you want the mother to always stay around with her kittens, put food too. Here at kampung, people usually give rice mixed with boiled fish to stray cats. Some cats don't like rice much, so in this case I'll mixed kibble (dry cat food) with canned food. This will also soften the dry food which will allow kittens to eat it too. For two kittens & an adult cat, 2 kilo of kibble & a canned food will last a week I think.Last week 2 kittens suddenly appear at my doorstep, with the mother occasionally dropping by to check up on them. I have never taken care of any feline creatures before, so I am really just very clueless. I tried browsing through the thread and googling but the information was just too much! I'm estimating the kittens to be about 4-5 weeks old, they are still feeding on the mother's milk. When do I start feeding the cat? Should I intervene or they can figure it out for themselves? For now i'm just feeding the mother and she will take care of the kittens. I am still contemplating on adopting the kittens, I am very unprepared and worried they might die under my care T.T (jk, of course, but u know what i mean) Sincerely, Cat Dummy. |

QUOTE(0168257061 @ Jul 21 2013, 09:29 PM) I have 1 mother cats with 2 kittens in house. Probably irritation from mosquito bites. Do you have picture of it?Since I am studying in KL, currently my father is taking care of them. Sometimes he will send some photos to me. and he is telling me that the mother cat has "red skin" on her top neck part. It seems the part is infected or what which I am not sure as well. He said after he change to another brand of food, there is slight improvement. Do I need to consult vet if it doesn't get better ? |

QUOTE(DeltaPanthera @ Jul 25 2013, 10:34 PM) Hi all, I found two kittens at a recently constructed row of shophouses near my workplace. Probably about 2 weeks old. First heard them crying loudly on Monday. I asked a nearby security guard if the mothercat was around and he said most likely yes, because he saw a cat circling the area. Was relieved a bit, since I thought the mother would be back. If you can't take the kitten back, I think you can feed the kittens at least. If you can find milk for cat, it would be good. If not a drinking water should be ok & some soft food for them. Put the milk/water & food in a tupperware. Then for a few days until now when I checked up on them, they were still there! They seemed to be weak but still alive now. I'm in a huge dillema. I can't take the kittens back home and the kittens would most likely not survive without their mother. To be honest, I'm lost. What would be the best course of action to take now? Did you actually saw their mother? I would be in dilemma too because I don't want to separate them from their mother. |

You can use FRONTLINE to kill fleas. There are other type too like fleas repellent spray & shampoo. They all do the same job, kill fleas.

QUOTE(OctoberFly @ Jul 30 2013, 02:06 PM) actually how do you know if your cat has fleas? I always check my cat to see if there's fleas and I still don't know how! They said I'll see the droppings n all but i didnt.. Good question. Fleas are the one always stick to the cat fur/skin (little black/dark colour bug) & once they dropped on the floor, when you try to catch them, they jump around, fast jump. Also when you squeeze the bug with your finger nails (against the floor), it will make pop sound. At least this what I know about fleas. This post has been edited by kizwan: Jul 30 2013, 02:27 PM |

OctoberFly, I hope your cat get better soon. My 6 months old male cat died last Wednesday (sorry I don't want to go any details). It's the saddest day of my life. So, I really hope your cat get better soon.
My other 6 months old cat (sibling to the male cat) also very sensitive with food, especially fish. She will get diarrhea the next day & sometime her anus also red. Any time I gave her boiled chicken, she will get better. So, for the moment I gave her boiled chicken, in addition to kibble. By the way, how long not to give your cat any food but glucose water? 12 - 24 hours? This is standard procedure to rest their stomach. I didn't gave my cat glucose water though & I don't know whether it's required for cat. Last time I brought my cat because diarrhea, I don't remember my vet said anything about glucose water. I'm also surprise your vet didn't do any further test to determine the causes of bloody diarrhea. So, now the vet already gave injection for possibly virus infection. If the problem still persist, go back to the same vet. If they still not able to determine the cause, then better go to different vet. This post has been edited by kizwan: Aug 3 2013, 10:29 PM |

I still feel so heart pain even after more than 5 years. i hope they're all now in a better place with no pain I'm sorry to hear that too. I'm a believer & I do believe they are in a better place now.the vet says until the diarrhea is gone 12/24 hours is standard procedure to rest their stomach. I've posted a couple of weeks back regarding stray kitties appearing at my doorstep. It has since been 5 weeks and they are doing great! First week. My bf named her Pui (means chubby in Hokkien) cause he wants her to be a chubby cat. And also it is much bigger compare to the other stray kitty. She is also always avoiding us. QUOTE(RigerZ @ Aug 20 2013, 09:21 PM) Hi cat lovers, what does it mean if a cat (regardless stray or pet) that is laying down turns away and doesnt want to look at you when you go near it? That's normal. It don't know you, so they run/go away.QUOTE(sya_dc @ Aug 20 2013, 09:57 PM) Hi all, Just make sure the kitten have access to fresh drinking water all the time. Try give boiled fish/chicken & slowly change to cat (can or dry) food. Make sure removed the bones.I took home a stray kitten yesterday Well i do have a grown cat in the house but the cat is already about 10 years and i really cant recall how to take care of a kitten! Last took kittens was about 5,6 years ago but they died when they are about 2 years old. (accident and fight) The kitten is so small, that you just put in your palm. Kitten eyes are open. I put it in a box. I know i'm not suppose to feed any commercialize milk. But I have not bought any supplement cat milk either. I have try to give water but seems refusing to drink Also I put the wet food from brand prodiet (something like whiskers) - i put more fish rather than the gel type It seems promising, kitten ate.. but seems to be the kitten is purging.. maybe food kitten eat previously at the stall? Kitten also quite dirty, seems to me it does not able to clean itself I dont want to bath the kitten as yet.. its to fragile.. Also it looks so weak.. But the kitten is really manja.. and does not "miaw" alot.. only when it get scared of heights (eg i pickup and walk around) any help wpuld be highly appriciated You can use warm water to clean the kitten. Then dry it with a towel. |

Anyone have any experience buying from www.petsmore.com? I'm planning to buy pine wood based litter because local shop unable to re-stock this kind of litter (supplier incompetent).
Also, anyone using crystal litter beads & recycled paper cat litter? How long a big bag last for 5 cats? |

I decided to go Green. Anyone have any experience with this litter? Or any brands (recycled paper based litter)? Just bought it from petsmore.com.
I'm going to try this litter & see how it fares compared to clay-based litter I regularly use. If it's economical, meaning last longer than the clay-based litter, I may continue using it. Currently, 10L clay-based litter with 8 cats last for 1 week. If this 24L recycled paper based litter lasted for 3 or 4 weeks at least, I will continue using it. My other 4 cats using pine wood litter. Just ordered 5 bags from petsmore.com since my local shop unable to re-stock even after a month. Buying litter online is my last resort after unsuccessfully to get them through local pet shop. This post has been edited by kizwan: Sep 9 2013, 02:11 PM |

QUOTE(braindeath @ Sep 11 2013, 10:44 AM) Have you deal with chubbypetsgarden before? Try look at PetWhizz.com. It seems RC on sale there. I bought 3 items (2 x Smartsift Litter Box & cat carrier) last month from them, first time too. One of the litter box was shipped out the next day (19/8) after payment is approved (18/8) while the other two items was shipped out on 20/8. Their default courier is Post Malaysia Parcel. You can try contact the owner/admin if you want expedite shipping.Their pricing is good, a bit less than petsmore iinm, but i'm kinda frustrated with their postage service Very2 slow, i dunno why they need 3 to 5days to do one postage, i deal twice with them n both are like that My cats food now finished and still no yet received my parcel Any recommendation on online shop for rc ? I think 3 - 5 days to ship out is standard SOP with most online store. My first order from petsmore.com, they shipped out two days after payment. The second one was ordered 8/9 (Sunday) still processing. I suggest order earlier or buy extra. I would buy two & when one bag finished, I will order them right away. BTW, the Green Kat cat litter so far so good. It's non-clumping litter but they are very good in absorbing urine & so far cover the smell very good. The pellets doesn't dissolved when in contact with liquid but absorb it & the pellets dry very fast. I just need to removed excrement daily or whenever I see them, basically similar SOP with pine wood. I don't know whether this litter is flushable (going to email the manufacturer) but there is small number of pellets attached to the excrement, so I just flushed them anyway. I also put some in the bottom tray of the pine wood litter box. It will helps in absorbing the urine dropped down there & hopefully helps control the odour from the urine. I think I want to try Cat's Best Oko Plus Cat Litter next. I'm planning to buy it from catsgarden.com.my. |
