my female cat is so hardworking... always catch mouse and put it on my blanket... until my mom throw off my blanket... should i hate my mom or hate the cat?
*
Neither. If you don't know, your cat actually giving mouse to you as a "gift" because your cat loves & cares about you. Don't worry, sooner or later no more mouse for your cat to catch.

I am using plant-fibre based litter material too. I am using the Okoplus.

I have been using MANY cat litter products for my cats. Clumping sand, crystal litter, woody pellet (brand Woodypet and brand Cats Best), but so far i prefer to stick to Okoplus. I am using 40L (18kg+) for my 10 cats. It can last for 4-5 weeks. One thing i like about Okoplus is the clumping and flushable. If u like the pellet shape but want a clumping type, u can try Cats Best Nature Gold. It is the same company with Okoplus but slighly expensive and hard to find.

If i have to leave my cats for more than 3 days, i am using Crystal litter. It masks the odor, but for long term i think it is not safe bcoz it a bit dusty and the particles are harmful compared to Okoplus' dusts.
*
How much you pay for 40L? Catsgarden.com.my listed them RM147.

Thankfully, local shop able to re-stock the pine wood cat litter yesterday. This is the regular brand I use, Paw Mark Pine Wood Cat Litter 9kg. Only RM30 & lasted for 1 to 2 months with 7 cats.
Attached Image

They take roughly one month to re-stock probably not many using pine wood cat litter over here. So, not lot of demand over here I think. They only take limited stock though. I also received 5 bags 7lbs pine wood cat litter from petsmore.com two days ago. A bit expensive, RM22.90 for 7lbs (~3kg). Pellet size smaller than Paw Mark.
Attached Image

For 8 of my cats, I use clumping sand litter. RM20 for 10L which only lasted for one week. For a month, I need 4 bags. I use this litter for all of my cats (15) when I'm away for work, usually 1 to 2 weeks. Easier for my Maksu to manage.

My friend had found a domestic long-haired kitten by the stairs, he brought it home and made her a house cat. She is very affectionate, every time he say something, she will respond.

Last night, after showering her, he accidentally dropped her to the floor (tummy hit floor first), but she seemed fine. Should he be worried? I think the kitten is about 2-3 months old, can hold her with just one hand.
*
Should be fine I think.

I have one long-haired kitten, 2 months old. Out of three kitten, one long-haired. Her mother is purebreds Siamese cat.

can anybody recommend good kibbles but at reasonable price? my 3 kittens (all under 1 year) have unbelievable appetite.

Blackwood, royal canin are ok but a little expensive
*
I use Kiska brand, RM65 for 10kg. I don't know whether this brand is available there. What choices do you have at pet shop there?

I live near Parit Buntar, Perak. If you haven't heard of that brand, then likely not available there. Local pet shop here have few choices of (premium) cat foods but I don't think they're famous like Blackwood or Royal Canin.

Where you usually buy cat food from? Local pet shop or online?

Sorry for the late reply. In my place i got it for RM125 per 40L (18kg). But now the price hike up to RM138, but for me still worth to buy.

9kg wood litter can last for 1-2 months for 7 cats is consider very JIMAT! Is it clumping? Before this i used Cats Best Universal. I bought 40L at RM89. It last a month for my 10 cats, but a bit smelly compared to Okoplus bcoz it doesnt clump.
*
If they're available at pet shop here, I would buy it too.

Yeah, they're very economical. It's non-clumping though. For urine, it does cover the smell very well. I put one layer of pine wood pellets in the bottom tray & it does work well in covering the urine smell that drop down there. For excrement, it doesn't cover the smell very well like clumping litter but my litter boxes are located in well ventilated room, so it works great. I wish I can buy Okoplus at local pet shop here.

There's a cat near my house who limps around on a broken leg. It's healed badly, the bone seems to have set already. I've tried approaching it a few times, but only managed to finally do so yesterday.

Has anyone ever encountered a similar situation? I'm not going to be able to afford expensive surgery, so I'm at a lost at how to help the poor guy out.
*
If you can't afford try contact animal rescue in your area. If you live in Selangor, try contact SPCA.

I understand diff cats need diff treatment, for a starter what would you suggest?

Can cats be kept inside an air-con room? Not 24/7 of course.
*
I read many people recommend Blackwood.

I think it's ok if not 24/7 & temp is not set too low. I don't think it's good idea to leave your cat in air conditioned room (when you're not at home). I would leave fan on & window opened (only if window have grills for cat safety).

hi all. just wanna ask opinion. i have a 7 month old male kitten. he was sick as a kitten, when he recover he not be able to walk properly and cant jump. my dilemma is i wanna neuter him, but i feel sorry cuz he already lost one ability. is it fair to neuter him?
*
What is the name of the disease he got before? Before he is sick, did he able to walk properly?

Usually kitten that can't walk properly caused by imperfect brain development, will be able to learn how to walk properly when he/she become older. However, I don't know whether your cat can learn how to walk properly because your cat already 7 months old & was a result from a disease. I have a male cat, named Ryan, which can't walk properly when he was a kitten. The back legs moved like penyu. Although a bit late than normal kitten, he did learned pretty quickly how to walk properly. I don't remember exactly but if not mistaken between one to two months old. He is now one year old. He have bigger neck like body builder & muscular front legs, probably to compensate but he can jump from/to high place like normal cats now.

Bad news, my cat gave birth to two little kitten but she does not even care about it. Both of its die. So sad, any suggestion on how to teach my cat take care their kitten? Or they will learn by itself? My cat is around 1 year old
*
Does the kitten born alive or stillborn (dead when born)? You don't teach them. The mother cat instinctively know how to take care of their kitten without human intervention. I can only guessing the reason the mother cat ignore her new born kittens are because the kittens are stillborn.

Yea, lock indoor. How long does usually a cat in heat?
It "meow" a lot at night, cannot sleep.
Nah, maybe plan to breed it.  rclxms.gif
*
Female cats in heat can be loud. This is where you need a lot of patience. Some cats in heat just for a couple of days, some cats can be a week or two & some cats can be longer.

Do you have extra bedroom? If yes, lock her in there with water & litter box.

I recommend spayed your cat.

If you let her to mate because she is loud, is not good reason. If you really want kittens, up to 5 of them, & willing to take care of them, then go ahead. If you think one loud female cat is a problem, then imagine when you have another 5 loud female cats.

I'm just trying to picture you the future if you let your cat to mate. Just make sure you have plan for them & throwing them away is NOT in the plan.

Guys, recently I took a stray kitten into my house and I noticed at that time that kitten look very weak and tired. After checking found out that that kitten has a bite mark on her belly and leg and that injury was already healed. Right now the kitten is well, but somehow there's something wrong with her voice since she only able to "meow" with a lower voice tone, it as if she's having a bad sore throad. Another thing about this kitten was that her breath also very smelly. I also have several other cats and none of them having smelly breath. Should I consult vets for this kitten.
*
Definitely bring that kitten to vets. Can she eat hard food/kibbles?

She can digest food like a normal kitten. However during the first few days when she in my house, it seems like she's having diarrhea but weeks later she can recovered from it.
*
I think that is normal. One of my stray cat does have diarrhea. This is because the change of food. I just do the routine, don't give food (except water) for 12 hours or overnight & then give her boiled chicken. When diarrhea stop, I slowly resume the regular food.

If she can eat hard food, then that is good news. Smelly breath can cause by a lot of things, from serious sickness to simple hygiene issue. You may need to brush your cat's teeth (using toothpaste formulated for cat). It's good idea to bring your kitten to vets.

QUOTE(toyroth thorin @ Jan 3 2014, 06:09 PM)
hi, i'm new here and i need a feedback from other cats owner regarding issues i've been face for the past weeks.

i have this stray cat, who had give birth to 4 cute little kitten. my family and i decide to let the cat stays in the home due to apartment managements who usually throw out those cats in the street.

since we'll keeping them, at first they all are in a box inside the house, and the mother breastfeed them. however as they grown, we decide to put them in a one meter squared cage, which suits them well and not cramp at all.

the problem is, the mother keep 'meowing' very loud in the house, while the kittens are all asleep. once a while the mother will try to get the kitten out of the cage (hold them in the neck for very long time and drag them around the cage)

hopefully there are few suggestion from others who expert on this kind of issues and willingly to share their experiences and advice as well.

thank you.
*
Meowing very loud because the mother cat is in "heat". She want to mate with male cat. Don't let her out. Please be patient when she in this condition. I recommend spaying your cat. She is carrying her kitten because she is uncomfortable when she in heat. You can spaying your cat while in heat though.

Can I use food mixer to mix kibbles & canned food? Right now I mixed them myself using spoon but if I can use food mixer, it would help a lot. I don't have food mixer but I'm going to get one if it's suitable.

This food mixer:-
