hurhur one of my cats previously used the litter box really well but I don't know why suddenly she decided pooping in a litter box was too troublesome for her, and she keeps pooping and peeing just outside the litterbox. T.T now i also kurung her in the toilet as well and when she poops in the litterbox, i let her out, and the next day ... poop outside again. haih! i think she will forever be kurung in the toilet d.

What kind of litter did you use? Can't go wrong with clumping sand litter. I found some cats are very picky when using non-clumping litter, especially when the litter is over a week old. This maybe because my house don't get good air circulation.

do you all feed your cats food that contains fish?

Because I'm seeing a lot of information online saying that fish should not be the main diet for your cats due to mercury levels, particularly in salmon and tuna. I personally avoid giving my girls any sort of fish, though I don't mind giving them fish flavored treats.
*
The canned food I'm giving them contains sardine & small amount of tuna. I feed them with it everyday but only once a day (some of my cats like to eat it mixed with rice & others like it mixed with dry food). Basically their main diet is dry food which also contain fish meal. I don't see any adverse effect on them though. I don't give fish/wet food to all of my cats because few of them prone to get diarrhea after eating fish.

QUOTE(GameFr3ak @ Nov 27 2014, 08:29 PM)
I have an indoor cat and recently he contracted ringworm. I brought him to the vet and got him boarded (I need to be overseas for 10 days). When I got back to Malaysia, his condition worsen. The vet told me that the new environment is not doing him any good, the stress has weakened his antibody.

So I got him home and after a week of applying the anti fungal solution that the vet gave me but its still kinda same.

Anyone have better methods to deal with this stubborn pathogen?

my kittens are with ringworm too, required to shower them once every 5days with the gel given by Vet. currently in week 3 fighting with the fungus, slow improvement   sad.gif

I hope your cat/kittens get well soon, GameFr3ak & jessteong.

hello guys.

I prefer flea & tick drops than spray. I've used two brands of spray & they doesn't kill all fleas. The flea & tick drops I'm using can kill all fleas in 24 hours & if any fleas from carpet trying to jump back to cat, they won't survive. It can protect the cat for months.

Regarding fish, at "kampung" regular food people like to feed their cats & stray cats is rice mixed with boiled fish. I honestly can't recall any cats getting sick from eating fish. Even my grandmother's cat live healthy with us for years. Almost 10 years I think, probably more. For stray cats, better fish than nothing, better whiskas than nothing.

QUOTE(nujikabane @ Dec 24 2014, 11:46 PM)
Hi all!

Alright I'm a total no0b when it comes to cat.

Here's the thing. I adopted a kitten from a friend, and she is 3+ months old.

She used to be v calm and passive. She slept on my lap right after I cuddled her. How bout dat!

So we brought her home. She is playful, yet calm (as opposed to being aggressive).

However, things started to change after a few days. She is always meowing whenever we put her in her cage! And when we let her roam the living area, she gets very playful, which borders to aggresiveness. She claws on anything she could find, she runs around d living area like Mo Farah, and she starts to claw and bite our legs!

And funnily enough, for a cat that playful, she doesnt seem tired at all! We have never seen her sleep! At times, we came downstaira to check on her, and she coyly turn to us and started chasing us!

Is it for kittens to behave like this? And will she grow out of it, and be more 'mature'? lol.

Truth be told, I was always scared of cats; I usually whisk them off when ever they come close (or I oeave the area, lol). So having noted her change of attitude kinda worries me.

Any advise?
*
I'm going to answer the last questions. Yes, kittens this aggressive will calm down when they grow up. I like this kind of cats though. When they get older, they remain cheerful & not boring.

What she need is a friend to play with. Since she is the only cat in the house, you're her playmate. No pun intended. Probably get her a toy, small ball like the one you buy for kids. My kitten like to chase a small ball that I bought for her around the living room. Burnt her energy pretty quick.

BTW, this kind of kittens will find something new to amuse herself. So, if your house is not 100% cat-proof, it's good idea to restrict her movement in the small portion of the house like living room or just cage her, especially when nobody around that can look after her like at night when you go to sleep or when you go to work.

^ Many thanks for the answer, @kizwan!

Phew I am glad to note that this behavior is normal. I like her this way, really. But I am just a little taken aback by the change in behvlavior. I thought that he's dirasuk jin! lol.

We tried to play with her whenever we could. But she doeant seem to be tired at all! Any way to make her more calm / make her tired? We gave her scratching pads, big area to play, and toys.

I'm thinking out loud; would caging her make her grow tired easier or set her free to roam the area?
*
Let her roam free in the house of course. It's good idea for her to have a lot of play time.

Did you spayed her yet? Spaying will make her calmer.

^ I think so too! And since she knows where to poop and pee, I dun mind her to roam free. After all, my living area is bare, and hardly used! It is when we adopt her that we spend more time downstairs.

I plan to spay her a few months later,
as she is only 3-month old now.

On a separate question, I am now only feeding her dry food. No wet food (only on 1 occasion, when it is who are curious to know the diff, lol). Is it okay? Or do I need to feed her wet food too for a balance diet?
*
If it's good quality dry food, it should be ok to feed her dry food. Make sure she have access to clean drinking water all the time. I have cats that I feeds only dry food & also cats that I feeds both dry & wet food. Maybe you can try feed her wet food from time to time.

I am feeding my cat Blackwood kitten. Is it considered as good quality dry food?

Yes, my cat has access to clean drinking water at all times. However, most of the time, I would need to coax her to drink, else she will not drink  sweat.gif
On a separate question, is it okay to put catnip into the water bowl?
*
Yeah, Blackwood is good.

I never have problem with cat refuse to drink though. Some of my cats that more active will drinking more than the ones less active. I use filtered water.

Today my cat vomitted 2 times after I feed him Whiskas Mackerel (dry and wet) both.. He vomit all out.. Is it serious? Need to visit vet? Is it recommended to feed again? Scared he hungry..
*
I'm not an expert on this but try change food first. If your cat still vomiting after changing the food, bring your cat to vet. If there is blood in vomit, bring your cat to vet asap.

You can read this article, might be useful.

do you all have to clear the eye gunk from yr cats like every 2 days ?
*
No because my cat eyes don't have gunk. The only time I ever need to clean their eyes when my cats got Cat Flu. How bad the "gunk" is? How old is your cat? Basically if it looked out of the ordinary, it always good idea to consult the vet.

Came across this & suddenly I asked myself : omg why did i feed my baby with theseeee  shakehead.gif

Just bought a packet of Blackwood and I hope my baby likes it
*
That not necessarily means they're bad though. Take an example of chicken by-product; chicken feet is mostly bones. It contain important nutrients, calcium and phosphorus. Chicken eggs and organs all contain great nutrients.

EDIT: BTW, I just googled about Intestines. In order for it to be included in Chicken by-product, they need to be cleaned properly. That's the procedure. I also read avoid buying food that contain anonymous by-product because we don't know the source.

btw guys, ytd i came across 2 girls dumping 3 kittens around 3-4 weeks old.. sigh that time i was rushing, didnt know what to do  vmad.gif
i went to find the kittens later on, they're gone  cry.gif  hope they're alright, smore that area many stray dogs

anyway wanna ask advice, if nx time i encounter such incident again, what should i do ah? i cant keep them also, my room limited space
*
No point bring them home if you can't take care of them. Then again, the kittens only 3-4 weeks. It's very hard to survive that young. I know what I would do but I can't tell you what you should do. If you want to help, if your room have limited space, a small cat cage will be useful. If you can't keep them long, you can actively advertise kittens for adoption in several local forum.

BTW, the kittens might be hiding because they're in new surrounding. Did you checked in "longkang" or any place they can hide in the area? Hopefully someone saw them & rescue them already.

Sorry no..  sad.gif

I took her to the Animal Medical Centre but they quoted me around rm3500.. since i cant afford that much.. i had no other choice but to brought her back to my house and sent her to Rain the next day.. deposited rm400 after Rain advised that there's a high probability that the cat wont make it since her head is badly injured.. and its true after all.. the cat died the next day.. balance of rm60 were used for burial services..
