Is it ok if i i only feed boiled tuna (tongkol) to my cat? Currently i feed them RC and booled tuna.

[attachmentid=2878266]
*
it's ok but don't let it make up a major part of your cat's diet. It's best to use as a treat.
Too much tuna (especially canned tuna) doesn't make a balanced diet, it's high in mercury and can cause vitamin deficiency. The idea that cats love fish and can survive on milk and fish alone is just from cartoons, just like how mice are thought to love cheese (actually too much is also bad for them).

some useful articles
http://thenaturalidea.com/2011/01/why-is-tuna-bad-for-cats/
http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=450509

also, cooking it actually destroys lots of the nutrients, which is why cats cannot survive on ONLY cooked chicken, fish etc. The only way to preserve the nutrients without cooking is too feed raw meat.

See, 2 fellas are providing cats for adoption in KL. I can't find any suitable cats in Penang at Pet Finder.
*
what exactly are the criteria you're looking for? cos I see 5 pages of cats for adoption lol
or else you can just go around and pick up any stray kittens that you like. That's how I got my cats. Kittens tend to adjust to indoor life better than adults.

QUOTE(Listiani @ Jun 10 2012, 06:41 PM)
Are u saying you left your cat unattended while you were away?? Come on, that is irresponsible. Weather or not he is an outdoor cat, he should not be left unattended. My mum's cat are an outdoor cats too but she will ask my sister to look after them when she is away.
*
Calling someone irresponsible is quite rude, I must say. What you know anyway? Unless my cat was an indoor cat and we left him alone, you can call us irresponsible. He was a fierce cat, he ate everything he found outside. He's not really ours. He just come home to eat and sometimes never came home, that's all.

We usually only leave the house not more than 2 days maximum, which sometimes even the cat didn't even come home for a week, making us sure that he was an independent cat.

I do admit that I'm not really that responsible for leaving him unattended, but my problem is that my family is not that fond of cats. I know you keep your cats oh so well but you cannot compare your family and mine. It's huge difference. But AT LEAST we give stray cats outside some foods. Just think of it this way, my dad don't really like cats but I love cats a lot and because of kesian, he gave me a chance to feed the cat and play with him, nothing more than that.

I really hate it either, what I want is we keep more cats inside and make them happier, but that's just impossible because of my family. I don't have any rights to say anything since I'm the youngest one and feeding outdoor cats is considered more than enough already, for them.

C'mon, I just lost a cat. I'm not happy at all. I'm sorry but your words have offended me. I'm in TEARS when writing this. I love him a lot, even when our times together was too short. It's just too painful knowing he's gone. At least you should be more sensitive.

I do hope I can be more responsible when I get older. I realize I'm just a hopeless kid now.

Just saying. Different people different opinion. Here hoping other cat lovers here don't attack me. No need to add my sadness and guilt. shakehead.gif

that doesn't mean you don't need to spay your female cat as well.

I agree with Verulin.
It does not mean you have a female cat you dont need to spay it.
Do you know the advantages of spaying a cat?
Here are the advantages of spaying a male and female cat.
Happy Reading.

1.Your female pet will live a longer, healthier life.
Spaying helps prevent uterine infections and breast cancer, which is fatal in about 50 percent of dogs and 90 percent of cats. Spaying your pet before her first heat offers the best protection from these diseases.

2.Neutering provides major health benefits for your male.
Besides preventing unwanted litters, neutering your male companion prevents testicular cancer, if done before six months of age.

3.Your spayed female won't go into heat.
While cycles can vary, female felines usually go into heat four to five days every three weeks during breeding season. In an effort to advertise for mates, they'll yowl and urinate more frequently—sometimes all over the house!

4.Your male dog won't want to roam away from home.
An intact male will do just about anything to find a mate! That includes digging his way under the fence and making like Houdini to escape from the house. And once he's free to roam, he risks injury in traffic and fights with other males.

5.Your neutered male will be much better behaved.
Neutered cats and dogs focus their attention on their human families. On the other hand, unneutered dogs and cats may mark their territory by spraying strong-smelling urine all over the house. Many aggression problems can be avoided by early neutering.

6.Spaying or neutering will NOT make your pet fat.
Don’t use that old excuse! Lack of exercise and overfeeding will cause your pet to pack on the extra pounds—not neutering. Your pet will remain fit and trim as long as you continue to provide exercise and monitor food intake.

7.It is highly cost-effective.
The cost of your pet's spay/neuter surgery is a lot less than the cost of having and caring for a litter. It also beats the cost of treatment when your unneutered tom escapes and gets into fights with the neighborhood stray!

8.Spaying and neutering your pet is good for the community.
Stray animals pose a real problem in many parts of the country. They can prey on wildlife, cause car accidents, damage the local fauna and frighten children. Spaying and neutering packs a powerful punch in reducing the number of animals on the streets.

9.Your pet doesn't need to have a litter for your children to learn about the miracle of birth.
Letting your pet produce offspring you have no intention of keeping is not a good lesson for your children—especially when so many unwanted animals end up in shelters. There are tons of books and videos available to teach your children about birth in a more responsible way.

10.Spaying and neutering helps fight pet overpopulation.
Every year, millions of cats and dogs of all ages and breeds are euthanized or suffer as strays. These high numbers are the result of unplanned litters that could have been prevented by spaying or neutering.

I am sorry if you feel offended. I have come across this type of behaviour many times and sometimes I wonder if the person who did this will ever do the same thing to their own human kids?? Owning a pet is a lifelong responsibility & similiar like having our human kids.

Your first mistake was, not sending him for neuter. He will become less agressive, more tame & won't roaming around aimless after neuter even though he is an outdoor cat.

If you are a student, don't ever think of owning a pet. You are still depending on your parents especially when comes to money. Feeding them is ok but owning them, are totally different world.

Own him? I didn't own him. He came to my house looking hungry, I can't just leave him starve. Like other cats, he will come back for more. I can't avoid that. If I want to avoid it I must see him go away feeling disappointed. I can't see that. But I never blame him for that.

Neuter? Of course my family wouldn't bother no matter what I said.

Yeah, I HATE it either, as much as you hate it. I do understand. I don't want my parents to be like this. Of course I want that cat and all other cats in this world to have a better life.

Well, I guess I'll stop here..

I know you don't own him. I am making a statement for everybody to read especially students.

Well, once you got your already working and financially independent, you can contribute to animal welfare like most of us does here. Probably by then your parents will change their heart.

Yes, then ask the vet. He gave medicine to the cat. Looking at the medicine, seems your cat have bacteria infection or food poisioning. Apart from that, we don't know because we didn't examine the cat.

Dude, you asked a very difficult question. Nobody examine your cat beside the vet. How do we answer your question? Why didn't you ask the vet when he/she examine the cat?? Really, we don't sit in this forum to answer this kind of difficult question.

Nothing's wrong. It is just that I found that your question is funny. It should be directed to the vet who treated her. Do not opt for home remedy without knowing the real sickness of the cat. That is why I said ASK THE VET WHEN SHE WAS TREATED.

You must ask the vet. What is wrong with my cat? Food poisoning?? Bacteria infection?? How can I make her comfortable because she is sick?? Do I have to feed her special food?? As far as I know, vet will recommend pet owner to feed diarrhea cat with A/D. Before you can give an alternative remedy, find out the cause of your cat's sickness.

I am a responsible pet owner and know the right quetion to ask the vet. Just put yourself in the cat's shoes. If you are sick, don't you want to know what is wrong with you?? Instead of the cat asking the vet, you can ask on behalf of her. (animal can't talk)

Several times. But when I give the cat A/D, diarrhea stop. This was recomended by the vet. But looking at the medicine given to you for the cat, lookslike she got food poisoning but I can't confirm for sure. Need to chk with the vet.
