Fitrah, I agree with you. Raw diet ftw!

unfortunately I don't have the time to feed my cats raw everyday, but I do give them raw chicken neck, gizzards, hearts and carcasses a few times a week to replace their regular kibble diet. As long as the meat is washed properly, it's okay. My cats are worm free and they love exercising their jaws.
I don't feed them raw often enough to notice much change in their poo, but from what I've read, others report that there is less poo produced and is much less smelly.
and contrary to popular belief, RAW bones are easily tackled by cats. it's the cooked ones that are dangerous as they are softer and more likely to splinter. I sometimes get chicken carcasses very cheaply from the market and they devour everything - ribs, spines and all.

ps. I prefer the Raw Meaty Bones diet. I don't see much point in feeding minced meat to cats when they can easily chew through the whole thing.

Thanks and it's awesome to know you're feeding wholesome raw meat diet to your cats as well smile.gif

Yes, you're right, raw bones provide good exercise for the teeth and jaws plus are important for clean and healthy teeth, are good source of nutrients and are enjoyed by most cats and dogs.

While cooked bones are more brittle and harder to digest and give rise to increased risk of obstruction or penetration of the bowel.

"I would like to quickly mention that you should never feed cooked bones to your dog or cat because they can splinter. If the bone splinters, it can get stuck in the throat, stomach, intestinal tract, etc requiring emergency surgery. Fresh bones have not been exposed to oxygen for too long and thus are, relatively speaking, soft and supple. But old bones can splinter due to oxidation."

P.S. "Over the years, I have noticed that cats eating ground meat tend to eat more slowly as they have to pick small morsels of ground meat with their incisors, which is not how a cat normally eats. As a result, cats eating ground meat tend to eat smaller meals and tend to eat their meals more slowly. However, I have found that cats eating chunks of meat tend to eat their food faster. Feeding meat chunks to cats allows them to eat more naturally. The cat will grab the meat chunk and then break the meat chunk down to the size they need with their molars before swallowing. This ultimately allows the cat to eat a larger meal faster. This in turn helps to ensure the cat is more satisfied which helps to eliminate the habit of free feeding."

It's nice to know you're also feeding your cats wholesome raw meat diet smile.gif

"Cats have the ability to cut chunks of meat into a size that they can swallow. Cats will chew the meat chunks with their molars and literally cut the meat into the size they need to swallow. As a result, the size of the meat chunk you feed to a cat really doesn't matter. As long as the cat can get its mouth over the meat, the cat will begin to cut off a piece of meat. Although cats can cut their meat themselves quite well, feeding them reasonable size chunks of meat does help them eat more faster.

Don't feed your cat as if it is an human infant. A cat doesn't need you to cut the meat up into super small sizes. Doing so will just waste your time. Cats can swallow, relatively speaking, large pieces of meat."

I was wondering, should I clean or wipe my cat's anus after she pee or poo? I don't want her to lick all the dirt too much.

First time posting here. Hello! I'm a cat lover, especially siamese. Sadly, my siamese cat (who I just rescued last Monday) just died last night. T.T Vet said he's too sick. Ringworm + diarrhea + virus, etc. He had a seizure around 1AM last night and his seizure eventually until his death.

haha it's up to the individual la. see what he/she likes best.
the good thing about minced is that you can put it in a bowl. If the meat is in chunks they'll just drag it everywhere. So I have to feed them in the bathroom.

I posted about my DIY box before.

some say that you should have 1 box per cat plus one more extra. But my 2 cats share one big one with no problems, sometimes they even share with foster kittens.
If multiple cats are sharing one box you'll have to clean up more often.
