I always wanted a Focus TDCI, thought new model would come with it... but SA said Ford won't bring in TDCI for new model... I has a sadding mang... sad.gif

SA said the new focus uses euro 4 diesel engine and current tdci uses euro 2.
euro 2 can tahan malaysian diesel but euro 4 cannot.
so thats why they not bringing in the new focus tdci.
then i push this question to him "why NEW ranger can get NEW TDCI?"
he stun at first then said modified fuel pump/filter.
then i asked "so that means use ranger fuel pump/filter on new focus oso can mah right?"
he stun again and just laugh and don't wanna answer.

wondering why people perception of sedan diesels like 320d and tdci so bad but i see so many 4x4 on the road hmm.gif

since our m'sia diesel lousy quality,
don't tdci owners need to change fuel filter every 10,000km?

Thought of getting a Pre owned Tdci 2.0 since Euro 5 is widely available in KL. I would like some comments on the following...
1. Is the turbo diesel engine reliable?
2. Is the powershift dual clutch a dry or wet clutch? Does it give the same problems as in the Fiesta?
3. Is the cabin well insulated from road noise and from the diesel engine noise?
4. Any common problem areas I need to be aware when choosing a Pre owned unit?
5. Since Euro 5 is available, does the engine need to be re-tuned to enjoy the full benefits of euro 5 diesel?

Thanks

I'm curious about this also.

bulletproof - riding on PSA DW10 engine platform. You can google how reliable is this engine
2. Is the powershift dual clutch a dry or wet clutch? Does it give the same problems as in the Fiesta?
No - wet clutch is far more reliable than fiesta.
3. Is the cabin well insulated from road noise and from the diesel engine noise?
Pretty good. some clatter in the morning after you warm up, its quite sedate. Not as quiet as a petrol
4. Any common  problem areas  I need to be aware when choosing a Pre owned unit?
bring a mech. usually normal wear and tear
5. Since Euro 5 is available,  does the engine need to be re-tuned to enjoy the full benefits of euro 5 diesel?
Yes - you can tune it up for more power since better and cleaner fuel
Thanks

If these were fitted with diesel particulate filter, you're best avoiding them, with old euro 2 diesel , it may be end of life already due to the soot load inside the filter , dpf are very expensive to replace. If no dpf no worries.

Take the trouble to go deep and look at te turbo, any signs of water or oil leaks , walk away , leaking seals always means a turbo rebuild

My gf sister owns the 2014 Focus titanium spec hatchback

Interior space I can say Myvi offers more legroom than the focus

The transmission not really that smooth however power is there when you rev it

Nvh and refinement not the best in class either

However a good buy if you don't have a large family and this can be served as a 2nd car if you have a mpv or suv at home

Wet, and its way more reliable than the dry
3. Is the cabin well insulated from road noise and from the diesel engine noise?
Not bad

Make sure its well taken care off and hv good service history, parts are really expensive. Check wear n tear parts like mountings and bushings are still ok. Turbo hose is the common prob but can be solved by replacing with aluminium hose.
5. Since Euro 5 is available,  does the engine need to be re-tuned to enjoy the full benefits of euro 5 diesel?
Nope

Thanks
